WINTER BIRD
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
A little red robin
Came to see what was for tea
He sat on the fence
And said please feed me
I gave him some bread
Watching
him anxiously
listening for any
sound
From the fence to the tree
And then to the ground
So timid he was
Just bopping around
Little red birdie
Don’t be afraid of me
Let me fill your dish
I will grant you your wish
There is plenty here for you
Berries of reds, black and blue
Here are some seeds
I have food for all
your needs
Come little winter robin
Come to my garden
If I scare you
I beg your pardon
I don’t want to hurt you
Pretty little thing
All I ask in return
Is for me to hear you sing
