POEM 2013 BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Another year has gone

It’s like a old tune or a song

You can whistle the notes

But the lyrics you forget

It’s like viewing beautiful rowing boats

Or you can have a sinking ship

Memories can be of wonder

Perhaps a sunny summer trip

Or reflect on a blunder

Sunshine and thunder

Rain and snow

A gentle breeze does  blow

On a baking hot day

Sad memories I hope will fade

Or even go away

But happiness

Gladness

Can be easily followed by madness

And love and romance

Can fill you with butterflies

Reaching those highs

From wanting to dance

Taking a chance

And from time to time, crashing to the ground

Looking around

And picking yourself back up

Brushing yourself down

And wiping away your frown

Along came some luck

And a bright new day for you

Colours of the rainbow

Not only blue

Orange and yellow

Feelings so mellow

That is reflections of last year

Time for 2013 cheer

A world without fear

Goodbye to that sad tear

And love those who are near

A new start

A glow in our heart

A new life

In our past is the darkness

But now a glance of light

Seal the lid on  a box of anxiousness

And don’t give up the fight

Be ever so courageous

Wake up each day with a smile

And be proud each and every night

A very happy New Year to you all out there

And know that I really care
