RIBBONS OF LIFE BY FIONA CUMMINGS

RIBBONS OF LIFE

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Ribbons of life, floating in the sky

Colours all mixing, flying high

Swirls and stretches of fabric

Patterns so pretty it’s magic

Like a rainbow without the pot of gold

Where have they come from

A picture so bold

Yellows, orange and apple green

It’s the most beautiful thing I have ever seen

Now I see the end of the ribbons

They are tied to balloons

Whistling through the air making tunes

Sounds of life

Millions of smiles

Can be seen for miles

Everyone looks to the sky

Wondering why

Looking for what reasons

Counting the mass of ribbons

 Children are filled with glee

Not believing what they see

Jumping to try and catch

Just one balloon or ribbon from the batch

Colours all mixing and flying along

In a sky where they obviously belong

But there will be a time when they have to come down

I just hope smiles can be remembered

And we don’t wear a frown
