HUMANITY BY FIONA CUMMINGS

HUMANITY

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Dancing with an angel

Singing with a devil

Music in all the people

Lessons I learn

Such a good pupil

Just years of listening

Time spent talking

Miles just walking

Life just passing by

Asking always why

How and who

Wanting to wear the other shoe

Finding out what it is like for you

Trying to understand

When you need me I hold your hand

I hide behind a wall when you push me away

Not wanting to be hurt

Telling myself it’s just another day

Look at the lovers

Babies with proud Mothers

Grandparents looking so tired

All their grandchildren they have acquired

A messy garden with a crooked gate

A starved child with his empty plate

A bloated belly with his greedy mate

A handsome man with a beauty on his arm

Knowing he has so much charm

A lonely gent from world war one

Years ago he had an army

Now all on his own

One day it is barmy

The next snowy

Floods remove life

Fires heat the wood

Taking away all what seems good

A policeman is on his radio

A teen lip sinks to the stereo

A young girl looks so pretty

Had her hair done in the city

A business man walks fast

His heart won’t last

Stressed to bits

Like passing ships

His wife goes in and he out

Some youths on the nearby street shout

A man waters his vegetables on his patch

It’s so interesting to people watch
