SLEEPY HEAD BY FIONA CUMMINGS

SLEEPYHEAD

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Goodnight my darling

See you in the morning

You are fighting it but you’re yawning

So just close your eyes now

I will place a kiss  upon your brow

Think of a wonderful place

A moon made from cheese

A cool breeze

On a hot beach

A giant juicy peach

Looking out to sea

A shell framed picture of bluey green

Then imagine the most beautiful scene

A mermaid wresting on a rock

Flipper feet and golden locks

A smiling whale

And a playful dolphin

Flapping his tail

You are laughing

He is showing off to you

Skies are so  blue

And the sun is a bright yellow melon

Dream my little one I think you are falling

I shall quietly leave your room

With your teddy tucked under your covers

Tiptoeing away like  all Mothers

Trying not to wake their babies

So they can spend one  hour on their hobbies

Hmm. In their, dreams?

As sitting on a beach

Eating ice creams

Is also only for their head

When it is time for us to relax

And go to bed

All I ask for my darling child

Is for you to know how much you are loved

Without pain or fright

All day and every single night

Sleep my little angel

Keep far from any trouble

Walk on velvet carpets

Not rubble

I love you

And will forever

As long as we are together

On this land

I will hold your hand

Try to understand

And give you advice

Whether you take it is your choice

Just know I am here

If you ever feel fear

It is my job

And it’s sometimes hard

But I brought you into this world

To give you my heart of gold

To buy all the love that is sold

To share

To care

And always be there

Goodnight

God bless

Now wrest
