The fairground
By Fiona Cummings
Life is a roller coaster
My heart beating faster
Too many ups and downs
In fear of crashing to the ground
Looking all around
Listening for every sound
Picking up peace’s
Smoothing out creases
The excitement of a high
Heading fast to the sky
Then dropping as though to fly
But life won’t let me glide
This is a bumpy ride
Then on the slide
Coming fast to the end
I don’t like it
I can’t pretend
I want to go on a gentle merry go round
Holding hands with my love
And hearing the noise of the fairground
Buzzing all around
A calm ride at my leisure
Let life be a pleasure?
