SOMEWHERE OUT THERE
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Somewhere out there
There is a land of hope
A place to live
With so much scope
Somewhere out there
There is life to share
Though the aliens won’t look like us
They won’t make a fuss
Will they have hair?
Or eyes of blue
Green or brown
Will they need shoes?
Show feelings through a smile or a frown
I bet they will welcome us humans
From the ground
In this vast globe of ours so round
Though they will know
We have come from a land of floods droughts and snow
Sunshine too
A world that once belonged to me and you
But now is the spoilt world because of man
So if we go to the other land
Will we as humans have learned our lesson?
Will we count our blessing?
To be welcomed and given another chance?
A place where smiles are shown in a dance
There is no such thing as romance
No pain in grief
No religion
No such word as
belief
No abortion
Just life and peace
No blankets of fleece
Where it’s warm all the time
There is sun but has a funny shine
A kind of golden rey
Where children can play
Without getting burnt
Where they are safe
As there is no evil
Everyone can walk
See hear and talk
No one will be in pain
Life as we know it won’t be the same
There will be no depression
No angry expressions
Schools for only good lessons
And jobs for fun
Working happily under the golden sun
Rain will still fall
But not like we, know it
Silver drops, for the food we can still grow it
Only nature’s foods
Nothing will be killed
There will be no money
Nothing shall be billed
Rivers will flow
Winter shall see snow
But we won’t slip
As our new feet will grip
Nothing will be broken
Nothing can rip
Bad words won’t be spoken
Just motionless really
But not in a bad way
What a world I have gone to
I wish I could stay?
