A CHRISTMAS CARD
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
It’s that time of
year
Christmas cheer
Children write their list
Whilst Dad gets rather drunk
Mum looks for her sexy stockings
To steal a kiss from the
office hunk
A busy time shopping
Relatives just drop in
Aunt, Maud with the hairy top lip
Cousin Dave who is such a drip
Sister in law Sally
Who is going slightly doo lallie
Uncle Tom getting rather frisky
Drinking Grandpa’s last years whisky
Nanny Clair
Sports her new hair
OK it’s lop sided
People do stare
Little bro ted
Is so excited
Waiting for the man in red
Dads in the loft
Bringing down the decorations
Mums cooking for the celebrations
I am blowing up the balloons
Hanging them around the room
Such fun to come
And time for caring
Giving gifts
And enjoy the sharing
Put on warm mits
And a bobble hat
Lots of wrapping
Panto clapping
An old movie
Old Nelly from next door
Getting groovy
On the dance floor
It’s that time of year again
When we light the candle
Of the lost soldiers flame
Hang stockings from the mantle
And sing the odd carol
From me to you
I send this card
With free love
In times so hard
We may not have as much as last Christmas
But can raise a glass
To a brighter future for us all
Come on throw that snow ball
As the white flakes fall
Hear those bells from the church and town hall
This time of year is mighty fine
Its Christmas time
With love from Fiona
