TRAIN SPOTTING

The total internal journeys made in Britain, 1.5% are by air, 8% by rail and the rest by road.

Network Rail, spend two and a half million pounds per year, cleaning the tracks up in the UK?

Merseyside railways have a zero tolerance towards fair dodging. Last year they issued 15,000 penalties, at £20 a go?

Last year 6 hundred million journeys went  through 357 stations in London area

There are 28 million trespassing incidents per year in the UK

In the last  ten years, there have been 200 vehicle incidents and 80 deaths on the crossings.

There are 21,000 track miles in the UK

There are2,516 stations in the UK

Train drivers can earn up to £40,000 per year and have about 35/40 days holiday per year. Per week, drivers work 35 hours.

If you read about the job, you will learn, that the requirements to be a train driver, are quite detailed. Should they earn as much? Yes, I think they should earn the same as pilots.

They are responsible for thousands of lives per week.

God bless the cleaners of the trains. I have just watched a program about the UK trains. Some of the states dirty filthy people leave them in, is just so awful.

I love rail travel so much. It is romantic, comfortable and stress free.
