The dog who guided me
By

I have acquired three dogs. One is my Husbands guide dog,
named Long Chops, one is my darling retired guide dog called Black Beauty and
the new one is my second guide dog, Waggatail. They are all so very different,
not only to look at, but in personality. Old BB, is a stout black Labrador,
with beautiful amber eyes. The prettiest face, and such a lady, when she walks
it is as though she is walking on ice. So nimble she is, when she lies down,
she crosses her paws/legs. She is gentle and so very loving.
LC, is a tall willowy cross between a German Shepard, and a Retriever.
Her face goes on forever, but people say, she is the most striking dog they
have ever seen. She is slim and so adorable. Always smiling, always full of
personality and always so very loyal to my Husband and myself. She is the best
guide dog I have ever seen work, an yet, so very naughty off the lead/harness.
She talks all the way, going on a free run. She loves to swim, but is a softy
and can’t stand the cold so shivers through her cry, but will not come out of
the water. She couldn’t swim, until BB taught her some years ago and I must
admit, watching it with our three children, was hilarious.
We were on holiday and there was a huge lake. We threw a toy
in the summer water and BB, dived like a professional, training for the
Olympics. Streight to the toy to retrieve it. Well, this infuriated LC, as she
wanted the toy, but didn’t know how to
go about it?
She paddled back and forward in the shallow part of the
lake, crying like a spoilt child.
It was as though BB, knew she could not get to her and my
seal like lab, kind of floated about just out of reach of LC. Our kids said,
she had a look upon her face as though to say,
“About time I had one over you LC?”
Well, BB brought it back in her own time, to be thrown again
for her, only to be rugby tackled by LC.
Yep, our LC, is anything
but lady like!
Well, BB soon got used to the fact that she was going to be
had, as soon as she returned to shore, so she stayed out there. So LC, had no
choice, but to join her, you know the old saying?
“If you can’t beat them, join them?
Well, she was sick of beating BB, so she joined her.
Oh really, it was so funny, we laughed, until our tummy’s
could not breathe.
There was dainty BB, mygesticly gliding through the turquois
water, and lanky Long Chops, like a steam boat. By the time she learned how to
swim, there was more out of the water than in!
Oh we did enjoy that
day?
And the song that LC sang all the way back to our grand place
of residence, was rib ticklingly funny. She shivered and it was a red hot day?
But she is a softy.
My new guide dog Waggatail, is a black lab, small, very
slim, with puffed out cheeks, like a puppy. She too has amber eyes, but not
large like BB’s. Her face is so very like a teddy’s. When you feel it, it is as
though there is some missing. Ha. So
cute, she has stout chubby legs, with round paws, again, like a teddy bear. She
is driving me crazy right now, as she will not do as you tell her. It is as
though she does not know her name? So naughty, as a guide dog? Hmm. Reserving
my opinion on that one. It depends on whatever takes her fancy on that particular
day? If there is anyone to look at across the road, or children playing, or
another dog, or a cat, oh don’t talk about cats to me? Or her? There is so much
to tell you about all of our dogs and what they get up to!
I would like to tell you all of the tails about our dogs in
this diary of our dogs, and I hope you will enjoy them?
