Lock away secret
By
Fiona Cummings
Keep it to yourself
Hide it high on a shelf
Lock it away in a drawer
Burry it under the floor
Put it in your pocket
Or in your gold locket
Turn the key
Don’t let it free
Make sure you button and zip it
Try to cover don’t even show a bit
You will
be tempted
And driven demented
You will be tricked
But be strict
Don’t let anyone in
Lock away your life
People will stab at you with a rusty knife
Don’t allow them to
draw blood
Look into their souls
They are covered by an invisible hood
Try to recognize their faces
You will see a mask
They thrive on gossip
Their empathetic ears don’t last
Twisting and turning
Like metal burning
Naive am I but I am
learning
A secret wouldn’t be a secret
If that secret was spoken about
A whisper would not be a whisper
If one felt the need
to shout
Trust is a must
But who do we trust
I shall tell you who
Only you
No matter who tells you they are there
Treat with such care
All they want to share
Is your lifetime of
living
They disguise their giving
With a cloak of wisdom
Which turns into
freedom
Of a shared few words
Then before you know it
Life is flying like
angry birds
Your heart is twisted
Your trust is blistered
But your wounds will heal
And life will again become real
Just with more knowledge of the cards you deal
And more aware of the love you feel
