For my dear Mother in law. I didn’t know you for long, but the
short time I knew you, I learned a lot, felt a lot and loved you a lot
Thank you for all you did. Mainly, giving me you’re Son.
Your memory shall live on. Xxx
Mother’s roses
By Fiona Cummings
A rose you planted for us
You came
You dug without a fuss
To us they all look the same
Blinded by the devils cane
You told of how you chose the fragrance
And planted right by the fence
They grew so well
And oh, the smell
So sweet and full of innocence
A tiny bud is born
Right next to the horrid thorn
The bud opens into a full bloom
They can be picked to perfume a room
Decorate a table
They were not justified by the label
As words will never say
Just how much those roses meant
When you placed them for us that day
Full of sentiment
Then you left this world
On an angels wing
With a crown of gold
The church bells did ring
And I’m sure you will fit in
As the garden of paradise will welcome you
A silver spade
And a golden rake
As sun will shine from skies of blue
You shall blossom, I’m sure that’s true
You are so missed
An yet your memory lives on
As your roses kissed
And grow they do
Under your heavenly watch
As you send the sun to us
From your sky so blue
Keeping your eye on our flower patch
Each season the roses say
I love you
And in these words to you
I want to say we love you too
For you live on through the earth
And Dearest Mum you give birth
To life after you have gone away
I do pray
That your garden will be
Full of summer colours
And, an autumn memory
You will teach others
To plant flowers
To remove weeds
And grow therapeutic plants
So hearts can’t bleed
When you move on
To another garden
In another heaven
Thank you dear Mum
For all the fun
For all the kindness
Filling our world with total gladness
For explaining why you bought the roses
So we could see through our noses
And from us they will never leave
For they are you
And we never need to completely grieve
As through the stems you live
And from the buds you give
All your love
May the sun shine on your soil
From above
And may nothing ever spoil
Sent with love
