POEM THE FLICKERING FLAME BY FIONA CUMMINGS

THE FLICKERING FLAME

By Fiona Cummings

As the rain pounds against my window pain and the candle burns a gentle fragrance on my mantelpiece

I sit here pondering what to do with my life thinking thoughts so

Sweet

Sipping on a glass of claret and my dogs lay fast asleep, as close as they can to the

Hearth

Somewhere in the world a couple are falling in love and thousands of women are giving

Birth

Pride is in a masterpiece, in kitchens worldwide with delicious melting chocolate

Cakes

Someone is admiring the stunning views, across icy covered

Lakes

A little girl is showing her love, to her very first pure white

Kitten

Young boys are trying to act so cool, whereas the truth is they are

Smitten

Graduates are getting their results for their

Future

Tourists are taking in all of the holiday

Culture

All around the world there are happy

People

And why? Because of the arrow pointing called a

Steeple

Telling us all of the news to be

 Grateful

To whom? You may ask? Well that choice is

Yours

Just let in the light and open your

Doors

Don’t leave it too late to say thank you?
