A THOUGHT FOR SUNDAY?

Hear my prayers, oh lord please?

By Fiona Cummings

Hear my prayers, oh lord please?

Open the windows and let in the light

Remove the darkness and gift me with sight

Please focus on those who live in silence

Protect others who suffer violence

Lift up that child who falls at your knees

Hear my prayers, oh lord please?

Love those who can not be near

And give brave thoughts to all in fear

Find us when we have lost our way

Save the dying so they can live another day

And those who have gone to you in a place we’ve yet to discover

Give faith to those left behind so they don’t suffer

Hear my prayers, oh lord please?

For those who are alone with nothing but their voice

Let them find a friend perhaps a few so they have choice

Guide us when we are not sure in which direction to go

Show us the map of life so we will know

When we are in pain, please hold our hand

When we feel like there is no one who can understand

Hear my prayers, oh lord please?

Allow us to be good to others

Treat people like our sisters and brothers

Give away something, to us, which is free

And that is our time a minute or three

Every day when we pass by a house with a closed window

Ponder upon when we last saw them and wonder if they may need us

Just knock on the door and say hello, no need to make a fuss

Hear my prayers, oh lord please?

Smile at someone as you pass by

If someone looks sad, ask yourself why?

Open your arms to family and friends

Try to help strangers to the very end

This is what we can do for the Lord

It costs nothing, time we can afford

To our maker and ourselves, we can applaud

Hear my prayers; oh lord as we hear yours
