EASTER CHEER BY FIONA CUMMINGS

EASTER CHEER

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

The Easter bunny is working hard

Sticking on beads on a greetings card

Making chocolate eggs

And chicks with two little legs

Easter cakes

With nests from flakes

Colourful shell like eggs

And Easter baskets

Full of joy

For every happy girl and boy

We have painted boiled eggs to hide

Around the house and outside

The smell of chocolate is in the air

Time to share

Shiny paper around the mould

Blues reds and gold

Yellow carpets of daffodils

Climb up the green hills

The sun kisses the new blooms

It’s a wonderful time of the year

And folk gather from far and near

Church bells ring

Smells and sounds of spring

April rain

Silver droplets

 They do pitter

Warmer days though it’s Easter

Everything chocolate

From dusk to dawn

On our ponds the frog spawn

Shows a new start

A chocolate melting heart

Baby birds

Lambs with their herds

Bounce in our fields

Bonnets are being, created

Little voices are, elated

A new start for the year

Filled with Easter promise and cheer
