MOTHER NATURE
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Whilst the night is so still
But in the air is a chill
The silver moon bows
To the stars in the clouds
The cobalt sky
Holds mystery so high
A blanket on earth
To give sun to the turf
And rain to the flowers
Be thankful for gentle showers
And in winter the ice we reject
Is important to kill the unwanted insect
To the midnight sky
I ask why?
Do you have to be dark at night
And in the morning daylight
Who made the sun the moon and the stars?
Who told the moon to talk to the tide?
Whatever whoever it is
Why do they hide?
Why do we need to sleep?
When late we must creep
Not to wake others
Whisper when we speak
To think of the night sky
My body shivers
Though I’m warm indoors
But when I think of the sun
I want to have fun
What a world we live in
If only we could be at peace within
And love one an other
Do we see the stars fighting
The wars in the sky is it lightning?
If it were up to nature
What a better land we would nurture
We were given a beautiful world
But we were greedy wanting gold
Needing to steel
To see what can be sold
This is just how I feel
A story to be told
It’s a huge sky out there
For us all to share
We can save the earth
Let nature give birth
And let us all take
care
Of what we have been given
Because for all we know
This might be heaven
As good as it gets
Glorious sunsets
And butterfly dreams
Crystal streams
And rocky oceans
Someone, something, has magical potions
But we destroy, with killing explosions
You can shange the future
Be a teacher
Of what is good and bad
Allowing our children to see the sky
And not be sad
Under a manmade shelter
Where we plug in fresh air
They will look up to what was once stars
But there will be nothing there
Show your children, that you care
