HEARTS FROM THE PAST
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Spending time with friends today
Made us sad seeing them go away
Many years ago there were four of us
Each other we shared a trust
We don’t see much of each other
But so at ease when together
To think we have
known each other since childhood
Seen so much bad and good
Shared a lot of life when young
There to love and share such fun
As kids we went to boarding school
Learned the cruelty and strict rules
Had no family around us
But cared for our friends without making a fuss
Many years passed us by
Personal lives hearts did cry
Then reunited once again
All recovering from life’s pain
Now so happy
The four of us married
A different world
We don’t have gold
But something more wealthy
A common bond ever so healthy
If only we knew way back then
Years later we would be more than friends
Life is so real we don’t pretend
We share our hearts till the very end
How special are our friends
