SEASONS SO TRUE
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
The yellow skies are fading now
The colourful blooms are leaving wow
Replacing them are gold’s and reds
Whilst dead foliage carpet the flower beds
Bowing branches to their knees
Saddened as they want to please
But among the crispy paths of leaves
We remember summer like in our dreams
An once again we enter autumn
Fires a lit and closed curtains
Turn on lamps to add some glow
As we await for winters snow
Where would we be without our seasons
I for one count my blessings
For a change of scenery is a change of heart
As weather comes and then does part
A new view from my window
A different smell as I open my door
A new garden chore
The robins visit for the Christmas cards
Red berry’s gone now so feeding is hard
Chimneys smoke and fires cracking
Hedgehogs gather all the bracken
Warm gloves on, seams that’s fitting
As Jack Frost keeps nipping
The autumnal nights of inky blue
Our gardens change from old to new
