HIVE

Nothing is easy, right? OK, a great start to my day. I went with a friend for a coffee chat and a collection.

A collection for Hubs suit from the dry cleaners. Sadly we had to hurry our drink, well, OK, not quite, it took an hour, but that time is short for my friend and myself as we can talk for not just England, but Europe. I had to be home as the man came to fit a system called HIVE. It is a great idea in theory. I must say I am rather excited for it, how sad is that?

What is HIVE?

Hive Active Heating™ offers you a state of the art kit with everything you need to control your heating and hot water remotely - wherever you are and whenever you want. The thermostat with its sleek, modern design is easy to use, enabling you to turn the temperature up or down and set schedules when you're at home. The Hive thermostat even includes automatic frost protection to help avoid frozen pipes. As this is a wireless thermostat you can fix it in any appropriate place in your home. This clever little box simply plugs into your broadband router so that your thermostat can connect to the internet and be controlled remotely. Your qualified engineer will plug this into your router as part of the installation process.

Small, neat and unobtrusive you'll barely notice the receiver which your qualified engineer will install close to your boiler. Your receiver enables your thermostat and boiler to communicate with each other. With our easy to use Hive Active Heating™ app, which is available to download free for both Android and iPhones, you can control your heating and hot water from your phone - wherever you are.

You'll be able to see if the temperature at home has dropped or risen, inside or out. And because you'll be controlling everything from your phone you can change your settings instantly.

So when you leave the house and if you leave your heating on by mistake, it wills text you to ask did you mean to put you’re heating on. When you are almost home, it will ask you if you want you’re heating on for coming home? Amazing, right? It costs £199 but we got it cheaper. Why am I excited? Because for the first time in our lives, we will be able to wake up in the morning to a warm house. The heating thermostat we have and the ones we have always had have never worked for people without sight. They say you save money too. I am sure we will as teen comes downstairs in the morning and he just puts the heating on full blast. So if we can control it, we can put it on half way when we want. So no more cold mornings in the Fifi Blogget house.

Only problem is I can’t find the email with the code on to activate an online account…… The man who came out was a little shy with his information and patients too as is teen so wish us luck? Haha. It may be the best thing, or we may need to start knitting for the winter. X
