MIXING BOWL OF LIFE BY FIONA CUMMINGS

MIXING BOWL OF LIFE

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

One step forward

 And two steps backwards

Find peace

Then bloody conflicts

 On my knees

Begging please

Or giving thanks

Together I fold my hands

  And close my eyes

Searching for words so wise

Looking for signs I recognise

Reach the stars

Miss all that’s far

Feeling close

To those far from me

A perfect view

I can see

Then blinded by reality

Swapping rags for quality

Then finding holes among the cloths

Clearing the paths

Getting rid of all the moss

Echoes of laughs

Drowning in tears

The road is blocked

The jaws are fierce

Razor words being regurgitated

Cut glass verbal’s

Yet more hurdles

Once again kindness is reciprocated

Life is complicated

Then perfect

A reject

Then very much in need

Hands which bleed

Skin like silk

Scars that weep

Nights to sleep

Midnight prowling

Wolves at the door howling

Sunny days

In a haze

Chilled by ice blades

Though orange is the sunrays

Shivering in June

The cobalt sky without a moon

The summer garden hasn’t seen a bloom

But butterflies and bees

Flutter and store honey in their knees

And birds sing their beautiful tune

So ups and down

Sky to the ground

Look all around

To see the full picture

Your past and future

Put the pieces together

Like a jigsaw puzzle

If there are bits missing, however

 It’s really not a hassle

Build your castle

Look from the tower

Feel the power

You are king or queen

Sit by the stream

Picnic in the park

Be positive at night

 In the dark

There will always be a light

During the day

Find your way

Parts of your life that makes no sense

Sit on the fence

And wait

Eventually the lost will come to your gate

Then all will be complete

 Peasants at your feet

You will lift them up

Teach them not to except defeat
