I have spoken today with Laura Boswell from Channel4's 4Talent division, who is offering a very exciting opportunity for people with sight loss, which we can all help promote!
They are offering 24 Rio Production Training Scheme places to disabled applicants. The aim is to train up disabled production staff to work on the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016, and beyond that build a career in sport production.
They are looking for entry level and junior talent. No particular qualifications are required, just ambition and passion for sport, as well as dedicated and hard-working and who can bring new ideas to the table to shape the next generation of programming.
Full information on this amazing opportunity can be found at http://4talent.channel4.com/
Having spoken with Laura, while they are fully set up to work with people who are blind or partially sighted, they have not found a good method of promoting the opportunity within the sight loss sector.
Promoting this via our networks, social media etc would be an excellent way of encouraging further participation from our service users and encouraging more people with sight loss to take up this opportunity.
THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 21ST SEPTEMBER, SO PLEASE CAN YOU GET THIS OUT THERE SOONEST!
While the advert is publicised by disabilityjobs.co.uk, which does make some accessible versions, Laura would welcome any potential applicants to contact her directly if they feel they cannot work with the existing formats. They can also create a YouTube video as their application.
Laura can be contacted by applicants via email lboswell@channel4.co.uk or call 0207 306 5567
Many thanks
