HOLIDAY IN ENGLAND

With its rich ancient History, romantic ambience and fun activities, York is one of the best places to visit in the UK. For couples families groups and if you are traveling on your own, there is a load to do in the city of York.

All in the compact walled city, you will find a horse and cart trotting with tourists, enjoying the cobbled streets. There are bars and night clubs in the very small proximity.

You can buy a York pass. This will save you money at the top thirty attractions. I do say though that you need sight to do this. Most of the streets are without kerbs/steps so for wheelchairs or pushchairs, it’s OK. Though busy. Narrow paths too, so not sure if for all, but if you are looking for a weekend or more and you don’t want to use a car, then York is the place to come.

There are street entertainers, Museums historic buildings, art galleries chocolate shops and see how it’s made, theatre and quaint shops as well as modern places to spend your money.

And some great markets where by you can purchase and taste foods from all around the world. You can sit next to the river and sip on a chilled drink or take a river tour but, if the water isn’t your thing, how about an open top bus? There are ghost hunts you can go on too where you may see more than you ever thought you would. Just make sure your heart is in good stead.

For us, it is an issue to get around, but we do manage. Like any city, there is a lot of noise , traffic and so on.

The people in York in general, are really lovely in most cities you do get the one or two strange  people, but I must say in all of my travels in the UK, York have the best people for compassion friendliness and acceptance. As a blind person, it’s a huge challenge and sadly we don’t do the tourists things, as what we do and where we go is for essentials only. But if you are abled body, Then York is great for you.

My friends who can see say it’s so beautiful and the choice in eateries is amazing.

I have touched on the beaches of beautiful Northumberland before. They are the best in the UK. Northumberland is to me the most peaceful paradise possibly to pay a visit to.

The Northumberland coastal paths are unbeatable. The wild life is breath-taking. Fish & Chips are the best. Local hospitality is unique. History is of plenty. Traditions with local fairs in summer are as though stepping back in time and the best place to visit in the northeast is Beamish. Oh you will not want to come away from there. It is the most realistic living museum ever. You can try out old traditions be taught at a school where the teacher will rein act what it was like at school in the olden days and there are old fashioned sports to watch and even try out. There is a farm there and a real sweet shop with the old jars of candy that you’re Great Granny will remember.  Other places have tried to copy but nothing comes close to Beamish. It’s huge too and most people can’t do it all in a day.

London of course is London. I don’t know what to say about our capital other than there is nothing you won’t be able to do there. No experiences are missed in London the only thing you may not see is the sun. Though when it is hot there it’s very hot. I guess England is full of history and the architect is stunning. If you are holidaying in the UK this summer, enjoy.
