THE CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
It’s that time of year again
Fragrance of Satsuma’s and cinnamon
Fairy lights twinkle
On the Christmas tree
Waiting for Santa to come to me
With his belt with a buckle
And coat of red
He visits us all when we’re tucked up in bed
With a long white beard
And rosy cheeks
Big black boots
To keep toasty his feet
He parks his sleigh
Out of the way
Of girls and boys
As it’s a secret
All their toys
He visits during the
night
It amazes me
How he gets it right
How does he see?
It’s so dark outside
And he even manages to hide
Rudolf and co
Covered in North Poll snow
As he comes down the chimney
Whispering “Ho Ho Ho!
Or takes from his pocket his magic key
Has his milk and biscuit
And for the reindeers a carrot
Sack back on his back
Out into the black
Nipping Jack Frost at his fingers
Fairy dust lingers
Painful like splinters
But Santa is happy
On with his journey
Over houses full of anticipation
We have to love his dedication
Every year
With festive cheer
He makes a visit
Of gifts so exquisite
But most of all
The Christmas bells, call
For everyone to learn
Whilst candles burn
And choirs sing
This is the most important thing
To give what’s free
To you and me
And that is time to care
For our love is ours to share
And will mean more than any parcel
Wrap your hands coupled with a
loved one
And seal them with a sparkle
Make others feel as though they belong
Then you can’t go wrong
Wishing you a merry Christmas
May all your dreams come true
With hope and love
From me to you
