MY PRAYER
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Remove all hatred from this world
Pave our paths in shining gold
Let us into a secret never told
Show us the way to go
To find our way home
Where rivers flow
And valleys shelter
Where money doesn’t pay
For those who feel wealthier
A kind heart reaches out to us
Without making any fuss
We will always have a hand for others
Everyone are like sisters and brothers
No matter what colour our skin is
Can we have the answers to this life skills quiz?
May those who walk in darkness see the light?
And our skies shine silver stars by night
For those who can’t walk up stairs
Let a miracle take place please?
For the heartless allow them to care
And the deaf to hear birds in the trees?
Those who hurt deep with in
Show them ways to smile
And if others are a little cautious
Perhaps feeling forever anxious
Free them from their troubles
And give them a peaceful mind?
For those who get into scuffles
Whisper words so kind
So they too will learn
That life is for living
To take after giving
Let fires keep us warm
But never ever burn
In ice I hope we will never slip
And allow us to walk with a good grip
Birds and bees
All creatures please
Give them the rights too
To be free from chains and the zoo
For we don’t need to eat their flesh
Or torture them by whipping and killing
This prayer I so badly wish
Would come true
But how?
Only by giving us a clew
Do we look to the sky?
Do we pray to the same God?
Perhaps that is the
answer
This isn’t too hard
Do we really need to hang an antler?
Or wear a tusk?
Is this a must?
I don’t think so
Where from here do we go?
Well we would have to all agree
We are all part of
the same family tree
Be there for your neighbour
Do a good day of labour
Look to do a favour
Be grateful
Respectful
And see what a change you can make
Be honest
Not a fake
It sounds easy doesn’t it?
Do you belong?
Do your shoes fit?
Your hand in my glove
And ready to feel love
Why not give it a go
What have you got to lose?
It’s up to you
You choose
It could be fabulous
End killings treacherous
Lets make a new start
Please hear these words
Direct from my heart
