THE POTATO DIARY BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Firstly, happy birthday to Steve, Paul, Richard and Simone!

Well I have tried again and put on the Lotto. Every week I put at least one ticket on today two.

Do I ever win? Nope! Will I ever win? I hope so. I know exactly what I would do with it. I have it all spent in my head.

Today has been a busy day just doing housework. For dinner I have made a lentil and veg stew with dumplings and for Hub I added tandoori chicken chunks to his plate.

Our Son isn’t due in until late tonight, sadly he is working again on a Saturday night. His boss hasn’t worked for six weeks at weekends leaving him to do all the shifts. And tonight, there is a huge gathering so full of awful drunks.

Hub is doing something with wires right now, scary considering he’s blind. This day and age, why do we have to have wires? You should plug something in the wall like those plug in air fresheners and everything should work on blue tooth.

It’s really cold today. Hence why I made stew. It’s still only August so it should not be as cold as it is now. we are down to 8 degrees at nights, that’s more like November weather.

Soon it will be mash potatoes and baked potatoes. Where as the summer brings us baby new. I halve, baking potatoes after washing them leaving their skins on. Put into a baking dish butter and parmesan cheese. Then put the potatoes with cut side facing down into the butter and cheese.  Add a little salt. Cover with foil. And cook for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and cook for a further 15 minutes.

Good comfort food.

We were going out tomorrow, but it’s forecast to rain all day. So, I’m thinking a day in. I’m hoping we go out on Monday may be with our Son somewhere.

Did you hear the sad news about the poor couple in Egypt who have died and the holiday makers have all been removed from that hotel? Officials in Egypt are saying that they died of natural causes. How ridiculous. Both of them on the same day? And how can they tell all ready as there has been no autopsy. Also, people from that hotel have been complaining of stomach pains and a lady who visited the same hotel, but has been back in the UK for three weeks and has been put on antibiotics as she is in real pain too! It’s so very sad as the poor couple had their daughter with her children staying at the same hotel. Gosh, I feel so sorry for that lady. I know what it was like to lose my parents within five and a half months of each other, but to lose both on the same day? Wow, life can be so cruel.

So,  some headlines

New law to say abortion pill will be allowed to be taken at home now in England.

Well don’t get me started on that subject.

Awful news too from holiday makers in Bulgaria. A tourist buss plunged 60 feet killing 15 people.

Plastic bags we now pay 5 pence for at our grocery shops are going to rise to 10 p.

Ghost black hole from a previous universe, is found by astrophysics

Well remind me I want to talk with you about something I was reading the other night, or morning as it was about 3 am. I hope to write about that tomorrow.

A cure for PTSD? Well that was the headline. In short it can be controlled but never cured, not yet anyway.

And that was the headlines for today.

South Africa, I’m missing you from the stats list. France is just a few behind you now. there’s something very odd happening with the stats and SA. For some reason, the SA stats are going down, not staying the same or rising… Very odd.

Now, before I go to sleep, some words

Never be afraid to fall apart, because you will be given the chance to rebuild your life to how you have always wanted to be. Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Until the next time we get together Bloggets.
