The meat industry harms the environment such as killing our
forests. I doubt there will be much rain forest left in some years to come.
3.5 million people in
the UK that is about 7 per cent are vegan. More are vegetarians. Whilst most
people who chose not to eat meat do it for ethical reasons, there are a lot of
people who don’t eat meat for health reasons. 2000 people in the UK decide to
become vegetarians. People stop eating
meat because of the health issues for example BSE, or mad cow’s disease. It’s
written that meat can cause certain kinds of cancers, high blood pressure and
heart problems those who eat meat too are prone to be more overweight. Gosh I am
now wondering, if I ate meat, how big would I be? Smile.
Another rising trend in the UK’s food culture, is to reject
genetically modified food. They also want their food to be organically farmed. This
is where
organic food is produced in a more natural way. Organic farmers use no, or very
few chemicals, pesticides or fertilisers.
3 out of 4 people in the UK buy some kind of organic food
each week. It’s so expensive though, I always buy organic carrots because they
taste so much nicer. Some organic veg don’t taste any different in my opinion,
but carrots are so tasty. Organic food is so much better for us. It’s easy to buy meat and a couple of
vegetables, it’s more difficult to make a tasty vegetarian meal as quick and
that is what we are all about now days, fast food. But some people make for
example a large vegetarian lasagne and have it over a couple of days. Or a
curry, stew or casserole and again, you only need to cook something like that
every couple of days so one day of cooking two days of eating. With regards
price, it’s so much cheaper to eat vegetarian food if it’s all homemade than
what it is to cook meat.
Facts. An elastic band is put on a lamb’s testicles and
tail. They jump around in pain making awful sounds. As a man would.
Imagine as soon as a young boy heads to puberty, sending him
to get a band put onto his bits then put him in a field to jump around. What’s
wrong with that? If it’s good enough for lambs, it should be good enough for
humans, right? What makes us better than them?
A cow is kept pregnant so she always has milk. So, take a
group of women rape them, put them in a cage until they give birth, wait a
while, rape them again and put them back in the cage. What’s wrong with that? We
do it to cows. Who gives us the right to think we have more rights than animals?
If a mail cow/bull is born he will be shot in the head. Only
females will be allowed to live. Keeping the odd mail to help to produce. I say
help as farmers don’t always use a bull to impregnate a cow.
Mail chicks are disposed of at birth.
Mail chicks are killed for three reasons. One, they can not
lay eggs, two they are not suitable for chicken meat production and three
humans have the power to murder.
So, we are outraged when some countries learn of the birth
of a daughter, an yet in the animal world, it’s OK to have certain sex DISPOSED
of?
I was inspired to write this because my friend posted a page
to sign against people in a certain country to stop killing dogs for food. But what
is the difference between killing a dog for food, and a goat, calf, pig chicken
etc?
