DIARY OF THE BEACH BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Good day Bloggets. It’s so windy outside. Our windchimes are going crazy. It really doesn’t feel like summer though I know in the South of England, they are having lovely weather. Yesterday we had a really strange weather day.

We went out with my girl Friday to a beach just over an hour away. It was a part of the beach that hardly anyone goes on. Because it’s out of the way and there are no facilities, it’s just one with nature. It was brilliant. It rained off an on though on the way there. There were also loads of crazy drivers on the road. Our poor GF had her work driving cut out. But she did really well. Bless her she is really young but handles the big beauty of a beasty car brilliantly.

Well we got there as we were parking it rained so very hard and was so windy. We got out of the car but back in quickly. We waited I really was determined that we were going to the beach that day though it was forecast for rain. if we wait for our summer, we could be waiting until winter knowing how climate change is really messed up now days.

It stopped, we got out of the car as fast as we got back in earlier.

Our dogs worked so very well. This was the first time they have ever been on the sand. I’ not sure what they made of it at first. Once we got down loads of horrid crooked twisty steps, we let them off. It’s great we can relax as obviously our girl Friday has great vision. So good that she described something that I could see in my minds eye. She said with the wind, you could see the dry sand blowing over and onto the wet sand. As the wet is dark the dry was lighter. She also watches out for our dogs. I put Waggatail back on her leed for a while and she guided me though she didn’t have her harness on. She was amazing. Well apart from a couple of times when I was gently dragged into the sea, but only just past my ankles and it was lovely to feel the water. But we walked so well I felt so free I was that Pegasus running along the beach. It was a dream. I was so happy. Then we let the dogs off again.

It was lovely to be able to walk at speed without fearing of bumping into anything or anyone. Sadly, there was one huge bit of plastic that some idiot had dumped on the beach. It was massive and why would anyone want to do such a cruel foolish irresponsible thing? Some people just have no respect or intelligence. Or both.

But the air was clean and the combination of the wind and sun really felt good against my face. The salt in the air was so good. So, refreshing. The sounds of the crashing water against the rocks was beautiful. The fact our dogs were so happy was even better and I hope GF enjoyed it too. Bless her. Thank God for her. As to do such a fun thing would be impossible without her.

We walked just over 4 miles and just under 10,000 steps.

Climbing back up the steps to where our car was parked was a challenge. By this point I had no energy left. As the walk was more challenging on the way back the sand had become soft so it’s harder to walk.

Just as we were approaching the car, it started to rain. hard.

We gave the dogs a much-needed drink and dried them off with a towel both things we keep in the car for them the water we refill every trip.

Got in the car quickly and we drove a mile or so to a Fish & Chip shop. We sat in the car and ate them. They were delicious. Then we started the longish journey towards home. Went to our favourite restaurant where they have a pub garden. I had my lime and lemon and Hub and Girl Friday had beer for Hub and Shandi for GF.

Just as we left there the rain started again. We got home, de sanded everything washed the car out and made a cup of tea. Sat in our lounge and reflected on a brilliant day.

Our dogs were exhausted. We fed them let them out and then they went to bed and slept all night until we too took an early night. I had a lovely relaxing bath. Our Son left the house smelling of really good food. His meals he cooked last night really did smell delicious. Bless him, he’s so loving his cooking. And he is improving on how he leaves the kitchen too. Thankfully.

Yesterday I even managed to get with GF’s help, some lovely bright blue shells. Not full ones, I didn’t take any of the creature’s houses. Just their ruins. Smile…

Well its Monday another week. Let’s see what this week brings? President Trump has his first day in the UK today. Welcome Sir to England. Happy birthday to Lee and David. If it’s your birthday today congratulations.

With love.

Fiona,

Hi! It was nice to read your account of your recent beach trip. You and hubby each have dogs?
It sounded like they were manageable at the beach. Do they play well together, and similar in age?

Best,
David
