Outrage,
is one word I’m feeling, why? Well, a family on our news said it all. As the
Grandmother spoke words so true.
See
when the Grandmother left school, she took any job going just to earn money and
she saved to buy her first house. She has had the same job all of her life. her
daughter who seemed to be in her forties, also left school and took a job where
she has been for 23 years. The 21-year-old Granddaughter/daughter, left
University, lives at home with the lady in her forties, her Mother. She says,
the youngest, she has a university grant to pay for. yeah, and it was your
choice to go to university, and your choice to drink on nights out when you
were there and your choice in your Grandmothers words, to have a car, your
Grandmother didn’t ever have that luxury. Go on holidays with friends, again
that is a luxury. So, in other words, kids want their cake and want to eat it
too… if she had left University, not moaned as if it was her right to get into
debt and get others to pay for it, and not had a car but saved for a house
instead, then fine. Now if she chooses to go on holidays, drive her car, and
not complain about not being able to get a house, then fine.
Our
young people want everything now. my Son works hard, drives his car and goes on
holiday. But you won’t hear him complaining about not being able to afford a
house. First time he does, I will tell him to remember the thousands he has
spent on his cars and holidays. Money that would have paid for his house. Well,
a good start anyway.
House
prices are ridiculous, but when our house price goes up, we, house owners, are
happy.
Don’t
get me wrong, I know of people who are hard workers, don’t have holidays or
cars and can’t get on the housing ladder, but I honestly think the majority of
people trying to get a mortgage, also enjoy their holidays and new cars.
Something else which caught my
eye, or ear today, that I was reading.
93% of the blockages in our sewers
in the UK, are related to wet wipes.
Really?
You know the wet wipes you can
get for the toilet/toilet paper? It’s said they are flushable. Well it has been
found out that they are not flushable. They don’t disintegrate in the sewerage system
and cause major blockages.
In Australia, 75% of blockages
are caused by wet wipes. The adverts say the wipes dissolve like toilet paper. Wrong.
Wipes are made from a material called air-laid paper and are impregnated in
cleansing chemicals, disinfectants, and cosmetic scents.
We personally pay £30 per month
for our water in England, that’s just our bill, other households may pay more,
but for £30, we have the best water in the world for drinking. We even have
clean water in our toilets an yet we treat our toilets like out of sight out of
mind. In London, the river Thames, took three weeks to unblock a mass of junk
people put down their toilets, not only wipes, but baby’s nappies, condoms and women’s
sanitary items. It’s disgusting.
So, on
that note I shall go for now and my next blog will be one of cheer… but just a
thought, next time you buy your wipes, please put them in the bin, if they are
cleaning wipes that is… not if you are using them as toilet rolls.
