DIARY OF A ROYAL WEDDING BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Firstly, wishing a very happy birthday to John.

After a lovely morning with friends having elevenses, that’s something you have around about eleven, normally a cup of tea or, coffee, cake, or, and, a biscuit. Biscuits in the UK, are cookies. I know when I went to America, a biscuit is different there.

We all had a lovely chat. Mainly about the Royal wedding tomorrow, more on that in a moment. We also discussed fennel. Smile. How it’s meant to bring down inflammation. Just to eat some seeds after a meal. Chewing on them. Not sure what they taste like but may get some to try them.  We spoke of fashion and Indian weddings. Princess Di and Meghan. Prince Williams wife Kate and more. Basically, it’s mainly those of us who either work part time or don’t work who get together.

I came home to see Hub as he has a day off work. We turned on our heels and went to our local restaurant. The weather is beautiful today. Passing the monkeys in the zoo our dogs worked as always around here, really well. A warm welcome from Lewis and Maggie who runs the restaurant and a chilled-out lunch only I had, and have, a dreadful eye pain only in one eye for two days now.

Back home, Hub is on the lounger outside I think he may have fallen asleep. He was tired. He’s worked hard this week.

I was out for a while but came in to leave him in peace. My Son stayed at his girlfriend’s again so I haven’t seen him since yesterday morning. As he left for work and when he came home, I was out, then he went straight there after work. He did ask his Dad by text though if he would order him something from Amazon. Of course, Hub did that for him.

Last night we went to the pub quiz. I have said before how it’s a lovely friendly little traditional pub. You get such a lovely welcome. We did the picture quiz, then we are all asked last night it was about 40 questions, but it’s out of 80 points. We were 18 behind the winner. Bad really, I think we came third in total from about 35 people. The 80 points make up for the picture quiz and special bonus numbers you pick beforehand. Hub got the anagram last night. It was something like M. A. G. P. I. E. S. I. T. T. I. N. G.

We were told it was a TV series. English? American? We didn’t know. Well the answer, it’s English and it hasn’t been on our TV for some years.  Magpie Sitting. Have you guessed the answer?

Spitting Image.

We had Pizza for supper at the pub and after refreshments caught up again with the quiz. The pub land lord, is funny, very dry. Someone asked where they should write the answer of the anagram? He replied.

“just under where it is written anagram.”

But it’s the way he delivers his answers, he can come across as a little harsh, but it’s just his style. We just laugh at him and he takes it all in good spirit, pardon the pun, being a pub landlord.

So, tomorrow we are having a street wedding party. Our Prince Harry is to marry Meghan. Her father can’t come to the wedding so, all week it’s been who’s going to give her away? Today, it was revealed it will be Prince Charles, wow, what an honour. and what a way for him to welcome her into our Royal family. I think that is the nicest thing he has ever done. Imagine, you are an actress and next thing, you are being walked to your future husband, a Prince, by the future King of England?

Meghans Mother met with the Queen this week for the first time. She took tea with our Queen. I would have liked to be a fly on the wall as our queen is so proper and from what I have heard about Meghan’s Mum, she’s direct. But they are really welcoming Meghan with open arms. It must be hard not having your Dad walk you down the aisle. Hub obviously won’t have a daughter to walk down the isle but if our future daughter in law didn’t have a Dad, then of course Hub would do the honour. if she wanted him to, but, as lovely and amazing as my Hub is, he’s still not the future King. Haha.

Meghan didn’t pick a maid of honour because she said she didn’t want to pick between her closest friends. So, she is having ten bridesmaids and page boys. All under the age of eight. Oh, they will look so cute.

People have been camping out on our streets to see the happy couple tomorrow. Shops and hotels have been took over by the media. I heard that even shop windows had been removed to get better angles. It’s forecast to be a lovely day tomorrow. They are to marry at mid-day. I thought they would have made it a little later so that people in America could get up at early breakfast time rather than coming back from a night club time. Haha. But no, it’s noon here.

Meghan will stay in a luxury hotel with her Mother tonight and Prince Harry will stay overnight at another luxurious hotel with his brother The Duke of Cambridge.

100,000 people are expected to line the route to the castle.

Oh, the cake sounds absolutely exquisite.

Well we will watch the wedding on TV and possible listen to the radio too as there is some radio station for blind people I will have to try to remember what it’s called. I will listen to that as it will describe her dress and so on, otherwise we will be expected to know all by looking, a little difficult for us two.

Then we will go to the street party. Everyone is taking food and some people are putting up red white and blue flags balloons and so on.

I hope they will have a perfect day and better life. if you are getting married tomorrow, have love laughter and loads of fun.
