Oh another day where we tried with access to work. Ending
with us writing to our local MP.
We received not a call, but an email saying that my Husband
would receive a call on the 29th of this month. Five weeks after we
first asked for a phone call about receiving help with getting Hub to work. If
you remember it’s going to cost £500 per week to go by taxi. There is no public
transport but if he could see, it would be about a hundred pounds to get there
and back in a week. Everything if you can’t see, costs so much more money. Like
the software I’m using for my lap top. Costs £800. Just to make it talk. I can’t
use it without this software, though from this year, there is free software
called windoweyes. So now we are not held captive to what we lovingly know as
Jaws. The software I’m using now. There are other cheaper things on the market,
but personally I don’t like them. I have window eyes to try. But whilst my
software works, I will stick to what I know, as there will be other keys to
learn.
And unless we need to go to the same old boring places, we
have to taxi. Living here, taxis are a fortune. How much I want teen to learn
to drive just to feel the freedom I never have had. Even with my x, I had to wait
until he came in from work to go anywhere and most times, the places I needed
to go were closed as my x was and I bet still is, a work a holic.
One thing my boy isn’t. All of his friends now have part
time jobs. When they didn’t he worked. So now his days are long and I’m sure
for him boring.
He does have a couple of dates this week though with
friends, so this is great, I just hope they happen as to get kids these days to
do anything, is like pulling back teeth.
So tomorrow, we again wait for a call to see if they will at
least put Hub on the list for a call back quicker than the end of this month as
he is due to start work in two weeks.
I have written a lot of emails today to our MP and others as
not just for my Husband, younger people just starting out in the job world if
they have this brick wall every time they apply to access to work, it is enough
to put them off working for life. And then where do they end up? At home, out
of work, depressed looking if they are lucky enough at four walls every day.
Even if Hub could get to work, then he needs a couple of
things to make working in the sighted world possible. Now we are very lucky
here in the UK to have such a service to help us back to work. Great if it
works and this hasn’t so far. I mean, how many employers are going to be so relaxed
and prepared to be so patient?
I watched a disturbing video last night online about over
thirty years ago. A lady got together after so much research six specialists
within the field of stem cell treatment. A lady with a blinding disease got the
operation to restore her sight. Afterwards, she was delighted to see, but her
glory didn’t last. Her neighbours and family called her Frankenstein and
abortion eyes. They made her life hell and within weeks, the lab that was built
for this kind of treatment was closed and no one heard any more about the revolutionary
treatment. If not for ignorant people, me, and the eighty year old lady up the
road who never gets out or has any visitors and the fifteen year old girl who
can’t go to her dancing classes because she can’t see well enough to follow the
rest of the class and the young student who is finding it all too much to study
his desired subject because of his failing in sight, would all be happier
people right now. What have those evil people done? If only they would look up stem
cell before criticising? It is those people who don’t see past their noses who
are responsible for suicides and severe depression.
They are not using aborted babies, oh no, we just flush
those away.
OK, rant over, I just hope one person who is against this
kind of help we may get in the future, just does one thing? Their homework.
I just watered my
poor neglected plants. Oh bless them. I’m not a good plant Mummy for sure. I
just bought a huge pot for one of my plants last week with my friend and when
Hub looked, haha. Silly me, it has a huge hole in the bottom for drainage. That’s
fine if it is outside, but mine is in my conservatory.
Well, it’s tea time I really don’t want to eat, but my boy
is in the kitchen so must cut this short as God knows what will get done in
there?
Later with love.
