AMAZING GRACE BY FIONA CUMMINGS

AMAZING GRACE
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
she saw the ambers
she tried to clamber
but she ate the fog before her
she left her hell
her body a shell
as her soul was lifted from her
all she could do was watch from a high
like a dove in the sky
sitting on a cloud
Couldn’t believe what was below her
Lost in the crowd
She tried to shout out loud
No one could hear her
Her voice was silenced by an invisible hand
It was time to enter her new land
But what was she leaving behind her
A tiny shoe
A blanket blue
A cradle no longer rocking
As her home, her world was smoking
Smothered in flames
She was helpless
Her singed dress
Was replaced by feathers
Chaos
So much loss
What a mess
Caused by human errors
As she held out her hand
There was nothing there
She was scared
What to do
Fly to help those trapped?
But she had no wings yet
A circle of love surrounded her
Like a scarf made from fur
But this scarf was like no other
It was magical
A miracle
Because she knew she had been saved
Just not to stay
On this land called earth
But to be given another chance
Where angels would dance
And flowers would forever grow
Where the pure white snow
Would fall each winter
And butterflies would hover
In summer
Gardens would bloom
There would always be room
For those who are good like her
As a tear froze down her cheek
She had no words to speak
In the arms of a hero her baby lay
As the nation, along with her, did pray
And thank God, her child had been saved
She had to be brave
And continue on her journey
Knowing that one day when time was right
Her baby would once again be with her
And she could hold him tight
Read his bedtime story at night
She would laugh with him
Just it was her turn to travel
To a perfect place
And she would be called
Amazing Grace
