Day 7
Will I, do it? Well firstly I can’t believe I have got to this day. I have lost a huge, hmm, not, 1 and a quarter lb. So, nothing really, but, I have not gained a single bit of weight. I haven’t exorcized and I feel better in myself, something that I have been able to do and stick to it. Okay, it’s only a week, in days, but heading in the right direction. The tortoise will get there in the end but the impatient butterfly won’t because they are too busy flittering from flower to flower. Thank you for all of your support and I really hope you can try with me I’m still going to do this let’s see how this weekend goes, I’m waiting for my friend and food will be involved so let’s see how I cope? I feel so pleased though and each night rather than feel a failure in life, I felt proud and that is worth the pain and it has been painful I’m not going to lie.
I will let you know more when my friend leaves for London. Some quotes before I go and if you have got over day one, wow, well done.

DIARY OF SHAME BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Gosh where to begin with this blog? Well, if you have been reading my fat files, you will know I’m trying to cut down on certain foods. If you haven’t been reading them, you will find them on my blog page if you are interested. I’m telling you this because there is a connection with my shocking evening I had with the family last night.
So, I was doing so well, no supper again and Hub and I were watching the TV. All kids were upstairs and our dogs were sleeping in their beds. It was after ten in the evening. Our doorbell rang, Could it be the Police? no thank goodness all were in the house, so I knew they were all OK and it couldn’t be them, right? Or could it? I was scared. I don’t like answering the door in the evenings. Hub got up to answer I told him I would get it, as to be honest, I think I’m more capable to fight off baddies than my Hub, having said that, I still have moments when I think I’m that black belt in karate. Climbing up the stairs only reminds me I’m not.
We still don’t have the electrics sorted out in our hall way it’s a big and expensive job and to be honest, lights don’t really bother us. Haha. As for the sighted ones, well they have to just get on with it…
I opened the door with my right foot ready in case the door was going to be pushed open, you know, the right foot which has attached, just, my right leg which had kind of got attached my dodgy knee? The knee that hurts, but is miles better thanks to the oil I’m using. Until one of our dogs knock into me then the man on the moon will hear me.
There was no sound, just some kind of rustling. I smiled, looking gormless I’m sure. I waited for him to talk, no, it wasn’t happening. I said hello? He made some kind of communication. Okay, was this the time, the time when the Martians had arrived? Was it time to talk in strange high pitched signals?
I asked him what did he want? How did I know it was a he? Because the strange sounds he was making was a man’s voice, a scary old man’s sounds.
I don’t know why, but I presumed that he didn’t speak English, so I rightly or wrongly presumed that he was from a take away? Indian restaurant? As the Pizza guys are normally Polish and they can say hello at least? I asked him if he was a take away, he grunted something that lead me to believe he was? I put my hands out to take the parcel my Son had obviously ordered from Hotel Blogget in his room, obviously, I was his maid a would carry it to him?
Then the man made more sounds and I had to tell him because he wasn’t given me any more signs to where the food was, that I was blind, pointing to my eyes. He then started to tap towards my left. My lovely wooden cabinet that my fantastic joiner had made us, was playing host to a bag of food for Boy Wonder. I was frantically shouting on my boy to come and pay the man. The man said in broken English, paid for. So, I locked the door. I picked the bag from the cabinet and brought it through.
Shamrock came in the kitchen and told us that they had not ordered any food? I went red. I was mortified. In fact, my morti has never been so fied.
Well, I exclaimed. We are going to have to try to trace the company and tell them they have made a mistake? Hub went to the front door but the man had gone.
The bag of food was huge, Boy Wonder came running down the stairs and said he wasn’t hungry. Em, hello, I’m on a diet, and it would be meat any way, but firstly we will try to find who it should belong to because it could just be next door then we can take it to them. My Son who has been brought up to be an honest person, who has been known in the past to hand in IPhones, and money to the police or staff, if found in a shop, my honest son started to take out a glass from the cupboard as Hub presented him with what else was in our hall. A full huge bottle of Pepsi.
I told BW off. “Do not open that bottle, it’s not ours” Shamrock also shouted at BW BW’s answer was. “Hmmm. Stolen coke tastes much nicer.””
Shamrock. “Do not drink that or pay for it?”” She continued whilst hitting him, Haha, remember she is minuscule. I found a bit of paper. It was the receipt saying the order was £25 and had all the contact details on and a mobile number on it. I said to Shamrock we should call the number and let them know they can call the take away and send the driver back. She did, by this point I found the Poppadoms and all morels went with Boy Wonder as I took some plates out of the cupboard. Sham spoke to a man and I said to tell him to phone the place and get a new order out when I heard that his address was miles away, we shared the same door number and our street started with the same letter, but seriously, that was the only similarity.
I said as Shamrock closed her phone, that they shouldn’t collect from us and give to the people any way, as it’s not hygienic. BW was enjoying his coke, Shamrock was still shouting at him, she sounds so funny as she screams her Irish charm. Hahaha. She is like a little fire ball. Hub in his dressing gown as he had a bath when he came in as he had a fifteen hour day and was shattered. He said he was going to bed. I told him we had our show to finish watching. He said, no way, the man was on his way back. I picked up the coke and bag to take to the door Hub was ashamed. Why? Because of the coke, I guess? Anyway, no one was there, so I said to Shamrock as Hub was upstairs as was our Son. What is in the bag? She said she couldn’t understand the writing, hahaha. I didn’t care by this point my poppadoms were going on my plate, well as I took them from the bag, they crushed…. What a mess? Oh well, never mind, easier to eat. Though it would have been a real sin…
She said there were some boxes of food. I put my hand in the goody bag as we were like children at a party with a lucky bag.
“Oo, here are the sauces more of them, so many poppadoms, come on Shamrock, help yourself.” So, we were the most moral at the start and then things had changed. Well we found chips, I tried one, just one, not too good thankfully for my cutting down. She opened a tray of food said it was chicken. Well Hub had not long had his dinner so he didn’t want it. She was full, as was boy wonder. No one else was in the house apart from our dogs and that wouldn’t be a good idea, then, the doorbell went again. Oh, my God… He’s back? What to do? There was food all over the kitchen. Half a bottle of coke. Surely, he wasn’t going to take the food half an hour’s drive away and food that had been delivered to someone else’s house?
I shouted to Shamrock as her and Hub were looking out of the bedroom window laughing whispering he’s at the door, he’s at the door. I almost died. Come and help me you lot, help me to find the food? Hahaha. Well it was everywhere, I found a tub but where were the rest of the sauces? Oh, one flew on the floor. I picked it up, by this time, our Little Fella was barking the house down whilst climbing on the windowsill. He rang and rang. Shamrock, come and help me I can’t find the chips? No, she shouted, I’m not facing him…
Hub, come and help, nope. He kindly replied, this is your baby.
Heck, shoving the poppadoms back in the bag, hahaha, they were in a right state. Where was the bread that came? Sham, come and find the food. By now getting a little tense as the man was ringing again and now tapping rather loudly on the lounge window that looks right into our kitchen. All the lights were on giving a good show of me running around the kitchen, picking the tub of sauce off the floor.
Well, in my hurry, the bag torn. I took the food to the door. He took it from me. Then as he walked away, he returned on his heels. Oh no, die with shame but a huge smile upon my face.
Suddenly the man’s blooming English improved… “All, it, here?””
Oh, yes, I replied, I think so. hahaha.
Door closed, well, no, can you imagine this, the front door wouldn’t close, heck, what was stopping it? The man? It wouldn’t be the first time I have jammed a man in my front door… Some old Bloggets will recall the story about when we were selling our house and I jammed a Jamaican man in my door.
No, it was the door mat…
Oh, he was gone, they all came down stairs then, didn’t they, well Shamrock started to really chuckle, she has the best laugh. She said you have left the chips out? Oh no, I died, then she found two out of four of the tubs of sauces. Well, her and I laughed so much our stomachs were killing. But seriously, I have kept the menu and I shall learn to remember the name of the place, never will I order from them, apart from they will do something to our food, or deliver it to another address and re-collect it, but they will charge us double as there is no way that poor man would be happy with his order, if you could have seen the bag? As for the smashed up poppadoms? The missing sauces and the chips that were on our kitchen work top? They went in the bin, the kids didn’t want them as I am trying not to eat I was proud of myself not eating them but ashamed of how Shamrock and I were so adamant that we were going to contact the person to tell him and were cross with Boy Wonder that he was drinking their coke, but then started to dish up the food. Hahaha.
Her and I did laugh as hub remained his sensible self and Boy Wonder was like a grumpy old bear saying he was tired, he needed to sleep… Well, he found the blooming energy to come down and pour the coke, didn’t he?
So I am, the man of the house…. Smile.x
So, I was doing so well, no supper again and Hub and I were watching the TV. All kids were upstairs and our dogs were sleeping in their beds. It was after ten in the evening. FI'S FAT FILE DAY 6 BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Day 6
Well, if you read my blog later, not my fat file, but my Diary, you will laugh your gym shorts off. Let’s just say, the slim Gods were working hard last night and the outcome was hilarious.
I went to bed last night on an apple. Well, actually on a bed, but I ate an apple! During the day, I ate salad for dinner with gnocchi. More of that than I wished for as boy wonder served it as I spoke with Shamrock. Oh, my seriously, you will have to read my Diary blog later about our night, every time I think of Shamrock, Boy Wonders girlfriend, I laugh. Last night was crazy, anyway, back to yesterday. Lunch I ate some small pastries so that wasn’t good, but no bread, no crisps.
Today? Hmm. Today was a bad one so far and we are only up to lunch time. I had the other pack of the pastries. If you know what a sausage role is from the bakers, it is the equivalent of two of those. But with cheese and spinach. So, no good with the pastry, but then I did a sin. My first slip. I opened a large bag of crisps/potato chips. I ate half of the bag. I hate myself for that but have to tell myself at least it has been done in the morning and not the evening and for dinner tonight, I will have only salad. I haven’t craved for toast yesterday or today or bread at all. I can’t believe that. If I had not have bought the pastries in, or the crisps, then they wouldn’t be here for me to eat. Sometimes if there is nothing but salad though or cold fruit, then that is when I will turn to bread and bread is what I really feel like I need to give up.
But here we are on day 6 and my first bad moment. And as I said a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips, but I ate them quickly, so hopefully it was less than a moment. Smile. No cake apart from one my Son brought me it was a cup cake and he brought me another that went in the bin. I felt bad but he knows I’m trying to cut out on those kinds of things and it’s all about life change I guess.
Because of yesterday I’m not weighing myself today but will have to do it tomorrow as we are meeting up with our friend this weekend for a meal or two and though I will try to eat as best as you can as a vegetarian when out, it will still be more than what I have been having at home. I won’t be having dessert, that is for sure.
How do I feel physically? To be honest? I have more energy. When I say more, I mean more than I had which was none at all. So, if the most energetic person feels 10, and the least those who just want to sit in a chair all day is 1, I was a 3, because I had to get up from my comfort and do housework and cook for my family but I say 3 because I did get up, my mind and body would say 2.
Now? I would give my score an energy total of 4 and to me this is what this is all about. I haven’t done a week yet, and I’m up to a four and I think this is how I am going to have to face reality it’s a life style that has to be for life. I’m not the young girl who can crash diet and loss weight fast or cut out and loss lbs, my fluff as my American friends say is comfortable and will take some moving. Thing is, my joints are not comfortable, my bones ache. My stomach is more free now since I have stopped eating bread. And my breathing is slightly better, gosh, I sound a right one, don’t I?
Friends who only know me by photograph, say I look lovely, pretty and not overweight at all. Not sure what photo shoot I used but must look their number up hahaha.
Interestingly enough, I’m not at all tired of salads. I have been buying the ready-made ones and adding cucumber, tomatoes, celery onions and beetroot. You may ask what the heck was or is, in the made salads? Well different kinds of leaves and carrots with thinly cut white cabbage. Oh, sweetcorn too. Which reminds me, I must cook the baby corn that is in our fridge tonight. I think I will make fish for the family and that will go with the salad I shall have and they can have new potatoes with herbs. I’m very very happy that I have only had one potatoes this week, a baked one and one naughty portion of chips when I had a cheeky lunch with my friend. Bread and potatoes are my main diet and I was having four slices of bread for breakfast, sometimes some for dinner and sometimes for supper so in total I could have up to eight slices per day. I was having five bags of crisps per week 18g per bag and some kind of chocolate biscuit of some homemade cake in a week. So, in comparison, really not to beat myself too much, I have done well. I’m not saying anything to my friend this weekend and see if she notices, because I used to say she ate like a fly and she does. She can go all day on one slice of toast for breakfast and a tiny lunch with half a dinner in the evenings. But, she drinks a lot if I did, I can’t imagine how heavy I would be. My friend is lovely and slim, very tall too, thankfully I’m tall, God help me more if I were shorter. They could role me like a cheese.

DREAMS WITH THE BIRDS BY FIONA CUMMINGS
DREAMS WITH THE BIRDS
BY FIONA CUMMINGS
As the geese fly over
Hills of heather and clover
Such beauty they see
Greens from forests and all the water
The grey blue sea
And a babbling stream
Sights only I can dream
Paint pictures in my mind
Images I try to find
But my eyes don’t see
It’s as if they don’t belong to me
In my head, I’m not blind
But once the door is open
Reality has spoken
My inspirations die
Tears fall as I cry
I hear the birds fly
And my spirit is with them
Travelling inside
I see what they do
Through skies so blue
Wresting on clouds so fluffy
But back to reality
Isn’t that silly?
As they don’t see how we are meant to
So, my dreams aren’t even true
Though my words are
So, if you care
Please share
Say a prayer
For sight for us all
Here my call
Through every bird song
All I ask is to belong

As the geese fly over
Hills of heather and clover
Such beauty they see
Greens from forests and all the water
The grey blue sea
And a babbling stream
Sights only I can dream
Paint pictures in my mind
Images I try to find
But my eyes don’t see
It’s as if they don’t belong to me
In my head, I’m not blind
But once the door is open
Reality has spoken
My inspirations die
Tears fall as I cry
I hear the birds fly
And my spirit is with them
Travelling inside
I see what they do
Through skies so blue
Wresting on clouds so fluffy
But back to reality
Isn’t that silly?
As they don’t see how we are meant to
So, my dreams aren’t even true
Though my words are
So, if you care
Please share
Say a prayer
For sight for us all
Here my call
Through every bird song
All I ask is to belong

FI'S FAT FILE DAY 5 BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Day 5
Well, yesterday I was delighted when it came to bedtime. I had no breakfast just some grapes and went out for lunch. I knew I would be naughty at lunch time, but being naughty is all I am good at. So, there you go… My favourite coffee shop was closed getting refurbished so it was a pub for me and my friend. Homemade chips and delicious sandwiches with salad. Then a coffee and a flap jack. I must say, I doubt the flap jack was very calorific as it wasn’t the best. Tasted as if gluten free. So, in other words, no taste. But the company and laughter made up for that and the coffee was lovely.
I returned home buzzing with good company feeling full with laughter. Hub had been working from home, I really thought he would have started to make the dinner, at least got something out of the freezer. Haha. Nope, he said he had not stopped writing and phone calls. I must say when I left him, he had been working hard since eight that morning. Boy wonder had been in an hour, not sure how he even survived, but thankfully he decided to go and have a sleep whilst I hurried and cooked sausage and chips. I had nothing at all. I wasn’t hungry so why eat?
Eight in the evening came, I still wasn’t at all wanting food, this was odd. One meal that day? I ate some nuts though, just for vitamin K. Something vegetarians need. Then by half eleven I still had no pain or desire for food, so I knew if I went to bed with nothing, I would be ill during the night and it would be hell for me. So, I ate two pears.
I woke this morning feeling fine, it was a strange evening as boy wonder didn’t get in until almost one this morning, even though he was up for work at half five. Hub was up at four this morning. He had a train to catch and it was a train that requires loads of changes. Three and a half hours each way he would be in transit. He won’t be home until almost nine tonight.
I came downstairs at quarter to nine and saw the kitchen was full of dishes. The dish washer had been on, so needed emptying. I did that then filled it again. Cleaned the work tops in the kitchen and did doggy duty. Then I was ready for a cup of tea. I have an angry feeling today, it wasn’t helped by a cross Son returning home for lunch. I knew had his lunch to do so ate a pack of six, yes, six, see, I can’t do two. Six tiny pastries of cheese and spinach. They are the size of four thumb nails put together. I felt rubbish afterwards as in calories, they were as many as the four toasts I have removed from my daily food, apart from yesterday’s sandwich. Which I don’t regret because I’m not on a diet, I’m trying to cut out food and not eat suppers.
I made a huge dish of salad and spoke to myself about what to make for dinner tonight, as boy wonder is home with our girly and much later Hub. So, for tonight’s dinner, I shall just have a huge salad. Then hopefully, I can go all night with perhaps some cereal before bed, or fruit. Though the acid of yesterday’s fruit on an empty stomach didn’t feel happy as I put my head upon my pillow.
If I can do the salad only, again no bread today or potatoes and another day without crisps. It will be hard this weekend as we are seeing our friend and a meal or two will be involved. This scares me witless, but let’s see what happens. This is the thing, you feel a party pooper. Eating for me is something you do as a group. It’s like people think we are odd because we don’t drink though Hub will be a bit this weekend as again, feels as if he should because our friend likes to. But I shall let him take that responsibility and I shall just be the company my friend comes to see. I hope… Could be Hubs good looks. Smile. She did tell me when I introduced her to him eight years ago, that she thought he was really handsome… haha.
My friend who put 2lbs on went out for two meals, so I said I would have put on 2 stone if I had done that.
My Son came home for lunch and it was a stressful one. Words were said that didn’t make me feel positive I was on a roll too. It was my own fault. I suggested that he was eating too many take away. His girlfriend lives on them and sadly he does too now, but I should shut my mouth and as long as he out lives me, so be it. Shame of his children though. I told him what I was cooking for dinner tonight he told me Shamrock was also bringing him food. Last night he ate with Hub and then went to Shamrocks for round two. Hahaha. It’s not blooming fair, if I were to eat like him, can you imagine?
So, what I was saying yesterday about the mind and mind over matter? Today isn’t a good one. So now I’m going to get active with housework and then may pop out with Waggatail.
Do I feel any thinner? At nights, I do. But tomorrow, day 6, if I get there, is the big weigh in. Let’s see. As long as I haven’t put on weight, as that is always what has happened in the past when I have gone on proper diets.
Motivational quotes for today?
“It is better to take many small steps in the right direction than to make a great leap forward only to stumble backward.” ~Old Chinese Proverb
“The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” ~William Faulkner

How are you all doing? I hope you are happy? Let’s see if I get this day over with. X

DIARY OF PUP IN THE PUB BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Good day Bloggets. I hope you are all well? I met with my friend yesterday and we went for a coffee to my favourite coffee shop. It’s a long way from where I live and as the wind blew my friends car closer to our destination, we learned that the blooming place was closed. At first I thought she was joking. But when I learned that she wasn’t, I felt so bad for bringing her all the way there. Well, she brought me really, as my driving skills oddly enough have a lot to be desired.
She is a puppy walker and we had the little cutie in the car with us he was in the bad books as he had just eaten her carpet. Well, who knows, in his past life, he may have been a carpet fitter? And to lay them you have to lift the old, right?
How does a tiny little thing turn into a long leggy lad like him? This is a little life changer to be. Little does he know of his future. Who knows what it may bring? Will he be assisting the young man to university? Making it possible for him to get his qualifications to continue hopefully for a career. Will he be walking the school route every day with a young parent and child? Will he be going to the shop with the lady who needs groceries for her family’s meals? Travelling on busses/taxi’s/trains to go into the office environment each day with his new guide dog owner or will he be making it possible for a person to be able to walk to their elderly parent’s house to pay a much needed visit from the Son or daughter?
Perhaps he will become a dual-purpose dog for those who are deaf aswell as blind? Or a buddy dog I have written about them before or maybe he will become a stud…. What a guy?
I will never know how puppy walkers do their job. How can you have a tiny dog from the age of seven weeks and then about a year later, hand them over? I know puppy walkers say that they do it so we can have our guide dogs, it’s so much better for our dogs to go into houses with families rather than kennels, but they also say that they cry for days and really dread giving them up and are in such pain the day they leave, so still, I can’t understand why they put themselves through such torture. They must be so selfless. Put on earth for a reason, that’s for sure. It’s only when you spend time with a puppy walker that you realise just what they do for us to have our dogs.
All the things that puppies do, these dogs do of course, why not, they are dogs at the end of the day. So, carpets chewed, lifted, table legs chewed, sofas ripped I have even heard of someone’s glasses being crunched. The responsibility of making sure that the dog doesn’t pick up your child’s toy, as so many dogs have to be put to forever sleep because of doing things like this. Feeding at the right times, the correct foods as our dogs only get fed the best and they weight has to stay perfect. “What is their secret?””
Trips to the vet for the treatments that are due and always cleaning the garden as well as the house after the pups. Taking the puppies out to places we go to, may be the big shops, butchers, cinema, theatre, office’s, trains, schools and so on, so the pup gets used to the sounds and sights of such places.
They attend puppy class’s it’s really a full time job that the amazing volunteers don’t get paid for and then there are the people who care for the dogs carrying the puppies. They look after them and then the pups for seven weeks. Gosh, if that was me, I would have to pop a pup in my pocket. I don’t think I would make a very good anything to do with pups. They are so very beautiful. And this dog is months old and yet is so perfect in the boot of the car just happily looking out of the window you would never know he was there.
Even at his age, he stopped at every kerb before we crossed the road., mind you he did some gardening along the way too. Haha. Bless him, he was partial to some spring petals.
We walked along the cobbled pathways, it was a lovely place a perfect village location and the air was so much better than where I live. It had such a lovely feeling about it.
Someone asked yesterday, if you are losing your sight, where to live?
My answer was somewhere where there is a Doctors, chemist, dentist and general grocery shop. And to be able to walk to these places rather than think of them by car, as if you can’t see, a car won’t be the option if you want to get out on your own.
Some places in the country don’t have paths to walk along, this is the worry about the countryside. Then there is the cities, well, like here where on the map we have everything that we can imagine, but to get to them, be it at our own peril.
The roads are so dangerous and there are no crossings. The noise doesn’t help. When you need to cross a road, it could be clear, but you can’t hear because of other roads nearby.
Check for buss’s too. If you live somewhere that there is only a couple of busses per day, or the bus doesn’t stop at the same place each time? Or that you can’t actually get to your bus stop because of one of these nasty roads or there are no paths. See how we have to think when we are trying to find a house?
Well, we found a pub that said (Muddy paws welcome) My friend and I didn’t have muddy paws but that was a sign that pup would be more than welcome. Guide dogs are by law meant to be allowed anywhere, but having said that there are some cultures in our country who don’t care about our laws and refuse us. Restaurants shops and taxi’s. But puppies by law don’t have that same rule, though people try to ask first and let the owners know that the dog is a puppy in training, so needs to get used to such places and normally the people are more than welcoming. But not to have such a conversation, we just walked into the pub and took a table to enjoy our dinner and I must say, it was lovely, just not my wonderful coffee shop that I have fallen in love with.
I couldn’t believe how long my friend and I had chatted for, with us both, there is never a dull moment and our conversations flow. So, we got up from our table and went to another coffee shop that only sells cakes and fudges and sat outside as it was lovely, though slightly windy. Our take-out coffee cups had lids which kept blowing off the table but hey, not to worry, pup collected them for us to put back on the table. Well I won’t go into why we were creased with laughter, as we were like two old ladies sat outside this blooming place, but we did laugh. If people who passed saw us coming out of the pub, then laughing like we were, they would have thought we had one too many, but truth is, I had a coke and my friend a coffee at the pub…
Talking of alcohol, I did laugh when I read this article yesterday and wanted to share it with you, just how it was written.
(How is alcohol impacting your health and life?
Try it now.)
Hahahahahaha, but it did continue, just on another line and it said.
(Try free our demotivator and check out your risks.)
What the heckers is a demotivator?
We returned home laughing all the way like silly school girls, though she and I can have really serious conversations too. She’s a gem!
Have a blessed day, this is a long one for me. More on that later. X

FI'S FAT FILE BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Day 4
I wrote about day three half way through my day yesterday, I was pleased with myself because I woke up without the pain of hunger, but then a fatal thing happened and I had the most enormous weakness. My Son kindly brought me a cake. Chocolate. So, in answer to some of your questions whether I have support from my family? Smile. I should have said no, but it was thick chocolate and a gift. Oh gosh, I really felt so bad eating it, that I didn’t have potatoes for dinner that night. Just two disgusting sprouts, as I said, it was like swallowing eyeballs. Not that I have any experience of eating eyeballs, but one can imagine! I had turnip, and yes with butter also parsnips and two large Yorkshire puddings. Dietitians would disown me right there. But I’m not on a diet, I hate the D word. I did them many years ago, and they don’t work for me at all.
I have a theory I always refer to our bodies as cars and cars require different petrol/gas/diesel oils and so on at different times of their lives. So why should we run on the same stuff? I’m sure my downfall is bread, so that is why I have not had any since Saturday.
Today, I will break my duck in a nice way. Poor duck. Smile. Basically, it’s a dreadful saying we have and it has nothing to do with the quacking kind, but to do with cricket. It’s a batsman’s dismissal for a score of 0, therefore when one breaks one’s duck, they have scored over zero It’s an English idiom meaning to do something you haven’t done for a long time. Okay, it’s only day four, but it seems like at least day seven….
Last night’s dinner and cake didn’t resort to a good evening. Gosh I was starving all night. So, salad fills me more than vegetables. Hub told me I was like a druggy coming off something. I really feel as if I’m going through cold turkey. I believe that saying comes from the US. Some say it means to talk directly, to stop something abruptly.
Last night I feared the outcome. Our shopping came, bags of salads. Haha, Hub put the fridge stuff away, it was so funny, I told him I was going to eat healthier, so be it. Gosh, I will look like a rabbit when I’m done. Last night salad wasn’t on my mind, but toast was, hot toast with melting butter. MMMMMmmmmmmmMMMMMmmm
But can you believe it, I declined.
I ate fruit to compensate for my mistakes through that day. What is it they say? A moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips?
So, that was yesterday, today is today. Another day when I must try to end the day better than my start as I’m out for lunch with my lovely friend. See how I get on.
My friend and Blogget bless her, has been trying to lose some weight and has gained 2lbs. There is nothing worse than doing well and that happening. And the other night before bed, she ate a apple, so how good was that? I haven’t spoken to her yet but I will do to see what she is doing differently. I know if I have a slice of toast in the morning with beans or eggs on, and some fruit, then a small lunch then small dinner, I will be hungry all day and I know with past experience, I will go up and up like a balloon, this is why diets don’t work for me. This is why I’m trying to cut out the thing that makes me sluggish, bread. If I feel sluggish, I will not want to move and moving really works to lose weight. My mind is saying I feel bloated and my mind then talks to my body. I do believe that weight loss has to do with something to do with our mental health.
Right now, I’m going mental to get healthy. Haha. I dare not get on the scales. I will in a couple of days, that will be six days since I cut out bread. If the lady trapped inside of my talking scales tells me A, to stop having a laugh
B say, I can’t count that many numbers or C, I have gained weight, I would be devastated, I hope the least they will say is that I have stayed the same. Even if I have lost 1lb, that would be four per month and it’s better than putting four on per month. This is why I don’t want to diet because if I do, I really would suffer, but as it is, I’m not suffering. Going back to what I said about your mind talking to your body, if your mind is starved of delights, it surely will sulk with your body and if your mind and body don’t communicate, then what chance will we have?
Who knows may be what I’m trying to do will be a complete waste of time but I have tried everything in my life this is the last resort.
So, day four, I got this far, I hope I get to bedtime and can put my head on my pillow and feel proud though I will have had bread today, I shall not eat a meal other than some salad for my evening meal and I won’t have had crisps or biscuits. Mind you, there is the coffee shop coming up…
However well you are doing today, I hope it’s in the right direction.
The thing is with my friend, she has put 2 lbs on so if she is like me and says stuff it now, then where is there to go? When that happens to me, I get really cross and rebel and eat more. By doing that, before I know it, I’m 7lbs overweight then a stone. 2lbs is retrievable. Don’t get angry, get even.
Please let me get over day four and make day five even better? Then day six and that is when I’m going to weigh myself. As it is now, I don’t feel hungry during the day, I’m not waking up in the mornings starving, it’s evenings and during the night I have a problem. Stay strong and try to carry on, just hour by hour as hours make a day.
I end this blog on some quotes
Fall down seven times, stand up eight.
And I love this one from George Eliot
It is never too late to be who you might have been.
So, if you have had a weak day today, show yourself just how strong you can be and take over, mind over matter, tell your mind that your health matters. And that person you really want to be, is there for you to own.
Yours truly
Forever hopeful

Talking of tomorrow, I’m hopeful that I am out with my friend so looking forward to that. In the meanwhile, I must dash and see what on earth I’m going to cook today. Gosh I hate cooking. I wonder if the people who enjoy it don’t do it every day? What makes someone like to cook? It’s boring to me and such a lonely place to be, the kitchen, having to decide what to put together every day to give variety. Well, let’s see?

FI'S FAT FILE DAY 3
Hello and welcome to day three of my fat file. Smile. A lovely lady, friend and Blogget told me that she is also fluffy and also is trying to lose weight. Fluffy? Haha. It’s cute, but does this mean we are hairy?
Last night before bed I would normally have cereal but I had the remains of the dish of salad instead and that got me through half of the night. About 3. a m my stomach started to talk with me. It was not like on day one as if a hormonal lady going through the menopause, more like a toddler showing signs of the terrible twos. Throwing a wobbler as I say.
Like a calm Mum, I spoke to it and had a chewing gum. Haha, normally it would be some chocolates from Christmas, see, I don’t binge eat otherwise they would be long gone. But they are still there on my bedside table. Gosh, what had come over me? Blogget power perhaps? But moreover, about nine in the evening yesterday, I received a text, from my Sons bedroom, seriously we live in a normal sized house, but he texts to ask the fatal question.
“Mum, are you hungry? We are going to get an Indian take away.””
Oh my. It was not words I had to say, so perhaps that made it easier? But only a reply by text, saying no thanks for me. But then when he came downstairs, he said he was going to get a curry and said the dreaded words.
(POPPADOMS)
Gosh I love them so much. Did you know they were made with a flour called Urid flour?
Now those of you who are using a screen reader will have to do a double take on the word Urid, I did. But that may be my age and not hearing. Haha. I thought it read urine. No, there is a d on the end.
On his return, I thought the smell would kill me. But there was none. He kindly left the empty paper bag on my kitchen worktop so I hurriedly took it outside and put it in the bin. I guess at least they put their dishes in the dish washer… Boy wonder told me how delicious it was, don’t people get trying not to eat? I smiled showed interest that they enjoyed their supper and bit my bottom lip, the restaurant was called zero spice. Haha, may be that is why I didn’t smell anything? Because there were no spices in their food? Why would you call your Indian restaurant that? Just thought of a really funny name for an Indian Restaurant, now if anyone pinches my idea, I expect nothing less than a supply of free Poppadoms please for at least a year… See what you think of this name?
(SPICEY MAMMA)
What do you think? Hahaha.
I resisted. Gosh, what has come over me? But still that was only day two, but one and a half more than I normally do. This is day three. It’s only mid-day, I have a long way to go before I reach the pumpkin hour. I’m on my own and that may be more challenging, but having said that, apart from Boy Wonders lunch that is cooked waiting for him, there won’t be any nice home cooked foods until I prepare dinner and I can easily resist dinners, though of course I will eat tonight, I just don’t know what? I have no desire to taste anything I cook. Haha. My family enjoy my cooking so it will be done with love, but me? I so love convenient food out of a bag or pack. And that is what I’m having to not buy and replace with salads and noodles. Noodles? Yep, that has been my lunch for the past three days. 460 calories but better than four slices of bread, butter with something on, right? Please say yes? When I eat sandwiches I’m still starving and going along with sandwiches, I have most times, not always a bag of crisps. But we have them from last week’s shopping in the cupboard and I have not even weakened to them.
I know I have turnip and sprouts to go with tonight’s dinner. Not a chance I can eat turnip without butter, but again, I’m not good at all at dieting, I just want to be a day prisoner, not in the jail full time. I will have a tiny amount of potatoes if any, I can do without them to be honest. As for sprouts? Urg, I hate them, I shall eat them as always for health benefits, but to me they are like swallowing an eyeball.
So, in short, this morning I woke up actually feeling good. I think I’m over the pain factor, already? Seams too good to be true and as I have said many many years ago, when I was good at this rubbish, I used to do a month at a time, but for years and years now, it’s been half a day.
When I was able to do a month, I dipped in and out of pain. Gosh I hope this time Mother nature is good and I continue as something drastic has to be done. My body cries every day in so much pain. I move like someone in their late eighties and I’m forties. But more so, my chest is wheezing like a heavy smoker. But I also blame the area we live. We are a city and my delicate lungs are not used to this muck.
I hope if you are joining me to try to get healthier, you too have got to day three or more? If you have had a weak moment, start again.
My inner voice says take control of your body and don’t allow your body to take control of you. Easier said than done, but hour by hour. I know I can fall at any moment and again I very much doubt by Friday, I will be sitting here writing my fat files. Gosh I pray I will be though. I know I’m going out I hope with my friend this week and it will I hope involve a coffee shop, but if I do that I won’t punish myself and I will eat some lovely food, but I won’t have many calories for dinner that night.
Well yours truly

SUNDAYS DIARY BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Good evening Bloggets, sorry if you haven’t read a blog of mine for a while, but I have been writing posts, just not sharing them on all of my groups. I’m trying to make a change in my life, I have no doubt I will fail, but I’m trying, so I have been writing blogs about this but not sharing them to every group I’m in. If you want to read what I have been writing, then please go to my blog page, either type in Google search box Fiona cummings Inspirational Diary, or open your search engine and type
Fiona-cummings.blogspot.co.uk
Hopefully that will work?
The heat is on in our house though it’s been a beautiful day. Hub and I went out to soak up the sun earlier.
Shamrock came and the love birds are booking a car park space for when they go on their holiday. I wish boy wonder was back.
He started work really early today and has two days in a row where he starts at half six then one starting at 6a.m.
I have dreadful eye pain today along with a head ache. Not good.
In our news, today a rare £5, the new horrid plastic ones has been sold on eBay after one hundred bids over two days. It sold for £60,000
It has the unique cereal number of AA01. Would you?
In Australia, our singer Adel has been getting to the stage inside a box on wheels as there isn’t underground for her to get to her destination. Em, am I missing something? Can’t she walk?
The first settlers on Mars will soon evolve into another species says scientists.
Scary, right?
Well since I started to write this blog, Hub and I have watched yet another drama where by at the end of it one finds one needing anti-depressant pills, smile, it was a heartbreaker. The two kids popped out for an Indian take away, left the empty bags and so on in my kitchen of course, the bin outside is too far away. For them anyway. So, Mummy Fi took them out.
Tomorrow another week starts. Let’s see what it brings, before I go some words.
You have enimies? Good. That means you have stood up for something, sometime in your life.

You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t worry, don’t hurry and be sure to smell the flowers along the way.

FI'S FAT FILE (DAY 2)
Fi’s fat file day two
I woke up this morning not wanting to kill someone. I was calm, but didn’t have that comforting smile on my face thinking of the prospect of breakfast. Instead, I ironed. There was something about the steam from the iron and the awful smell from the ironing water that even made me hungry, seriously, what is wrong with me?
My stomach didn’t feel as if it was cut, from past experiences, the first couple of days is difficult but then you are OK, but then you dip and then you either crack open a bag of crisps or you continue being strong. I haven’t yet been strong.
I have been grateful to my lovely Bloggets who have offered me some good advice about not starving myself. I’m just trying for now to not eat bread at all and no crisps or food after six in the evening. Apart from a dish of cereal. No sugar so hopefully it’s OK but to go to bed with nothing will make my little sleep less.
Day two is better than half a day and that is all I have managed over the past few years. I went on the treadmill again today as well. I don’t run, I care too much about the foundations in our house.
If you are starting some kind of regime too, please let me know and see if we can do this together?
I want to live to see. Literally to see. How long it will take and will it be in my life time? Well if I continue to inflate, I will die early or not be healthy enough to benefit from the freedom of sight. Hub said if I die, he will follow, charming, no pressure love?
Boy Wonder of course is telling me that I’m not doing enough exercise, well I can’t be pushed. If I am pushed, I will fall. Day by day, who knows, by Wednesday, I may be writing to tell you that I have failed again? I really hope not, if I do, I have no hope.
Food just doesn’t turn me on at all. Sandwiches crisps chocolate I can eat until the cows come home, but cooked food? Naah! So, you can imagine how difficult it is to eat healthy. Well I have had two bananas today and loads of salad. But I had custard and some chips too with a veggie burger without the bread of course. No crisps cake or biscuits. Yesterday I worked out I had about 1200 calories less than I normally would, even if I have a thousand less per day, that is a lot in a week? I have had the worst head ache all day I should go and get a big glass of water? Urr’rr’rrgg.
I wish I was good at this, but I’m not, I know what to do, I have been on more diets over the years than a new Mother and ate as healthy as a fitness instructor and crash dieted like a super model.
But as the years added onto me the way of life has changed, my mind has developed bad habits and I can tell you, this is tough.
It’s seven in the evening, please let me get till midnight without failing?
Yours truly

DIARY OF FEEL THE BITE BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Good afternoon Bloggets. Hub and Boy Wonder went looking for a coffee emporia today that according to BW was there last week, and this week? Smile. Hub was wanting to buy some nice coffee, but it didn’t happen.
My friend asked me after reading yesterday’s blog on what my Husbands opinion on those who take drugs was, well, I like to think out of the box, Hub likes to stay in that box so he thinks the same as a lot of people, kids just get into the wrong crowds and once they start they can’t stop but he said that he wishes he understood what takes them there, he didn’t like or agree with my explanation on what I thought. He said if we knew why they did it, we could stop it as it’s getting out of hand! It’s more dangerous now because as I said yesterday, there are drugs now where you take just one and you are hooked. There’s no second chance. There is a synthetic drug that is more addictive than heroin and leaves user’s catatonic!
Hubs solution to get them off drugs is to put them away in rehabilitation, but fact is, that doesn’t work, does it? They stay there and meet people like them, make friends with them come out and start again. I said by putting people into places like that, makes them rebel. Makes them angry towards those who are wanting the best for them. Also, a lot of people who use drugs are past caring about those around them and themselves.
The rugby is on again today but I’m in a different room though I did stay to listen for a while, until one person was dropped on his neck? Well something about dropping and the neck was spoken about so I left. My football team are losing, Newcastle United. They have played too many games in a week so now their forth I think, is too much for them and they are losing big time, though there is twenty odd minutes to go. But typically, they are playing at home today.
Our dogs have been out for a very long walk/run. They are now exhausted. Boy Wonder has taken his girlfriend to the town. To do what? Not sure, but on the phone, bless him, he didn’t sound too impressed he was going there. He would have rather wanted to go somewhere for a walk.
It’s coming up to Shamrocks eighteenth birthday soon so I have been looking what to get her. Did I tell you I bought her a lovely pair of earrings that I was sure she would like, but BW said she would not wear them? They were silver plated too, as she doesn’t like gold. Oh well, I have them now and have had them in a couple of times, it would be funny if I had them in one day and she said she liked them?
Our friend will be here this time next week. She is coming from London. Not sure what we will be doing yet.
In London, a picture has been an internet hit of seven nuns on the platform of the Seven Sisters Station.
Our singer/songwriter Ed Sheerin has smashed all records as he has nine songs in the top ten of our charts. The songs from his latest album, which has broken all records if you pardon the pun, is the fastest selling album by a male artist ever.
A fisherman was attacked twice whilst he waited to catch fish in the Caribbean. The shark feasted on the 58 year olds leg. Hmm. Perhaps he will now know how the poor fish feel when he allows a hook to go through their mouths?
Talking of creatures and feasting, time to feed our dogs. Did I tell you that our Little Fella isn’t so little anymore? Thankfully he has at last put on some weight. It’s taken months but at last our bony dog has some flesh on him, he looks a chunky bear now, but he is the perfect weight for his breed and age. 31k.
Have a lovely weekend, stay safe and smile, someone cares. Me. X

FI'S FAT FILE BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Well, after a few weeks of words from a friends Mum, my Son and today my Hub, I have been told well and truly that I’m overweight and have to do something about it. I’m sick of hearing that it has to be something I, want, who wants to be overweight? Is it that easy? If so we would all have perfect figures.
So, I have tried not eating crisps for weeks as that is a weakness of mine, I have about five bags per week they are about 18g bags sometimes 25g. My biggest killer is bread I have between four and six per day. If I have potatoes as in mash I can’t eat them without butter. I use a low-fat spread, but have to have it. So, I have tried to not eat dinners at nights so I avoided butter. I have cut out biscuits I would have about a dozen per week biscuits like digestives not like American biscuits, they are like a small cookie. So as for cakes, well apart from when my friend brings a homemade cake where I have two slices in that week she bakes, when my friend Artie brings me an individual cake that is about every two months, and if I go to a coffee shop, which is about once every five or six weeks, so what I’m saying is that is all bad food, but doesn’t justify the amount I weigh. So, the only way to go is have nothing to eat all day and just try to eat dinner. Now those who know me know I struggle eating at nights there are too many reasons for that, too many to go into detail, but if it means I don’t eat full meals at nights too, then surely, I will lose weight?
Normally I would come downstairs on a Saturday and really look forward to a breakfast of a cup of tea and four slices of toast with butter. Then nothing until dinner time tonight. Not today. Today nothing. So, I’m grumpy. My stomach feels as if it’s been cut. Hub told me to have cereal. Very nice, but A, I can’t stand cereal in the mornings and B, once I start to eat in the mornings only, I want more. He said I’m making excuses now. Well, is he making excuses when he says he can’t eat before work? He said if he ate breakfast before work, he would feel sick all day, so is he making excuses? How come it’s OK for him to say he doesn’t like something and not me? Cereal I enjoy for supper, but not first thing. So, some fruit salad? I would love that as long as I knew something warm and salty was to follow. So, a hopeless case. That’s me. The only way I can try to lose weight is the way I used to do it years ago, and that is to crash diet. I will lose weight but of course then put double back on, unless I live like this all my life? Who knows one day I may get used to living on a dish of salad every day, at least I should, lose weight and feel better eventually? I mean, right now, I don’t feel fit and healthy. So, Hub is right, I’m wrong and I have to deal with it the only way I can and that is to starve myself. So, in the meanwhile, I shall be a grumpy Fi and have to keep out of the kitchen all day, well, this should be interesting how my Hub will cope for snacks as when he is off work I feed him. That is what I would have thought early this morning as I was getting a rightly deserved lecture. Until ten minutes ago, when Hub was rattling dishes in the kitchen. Then the smell came my way. Oh no, how cruel? He has only cooked himself two bacon sandwiches and of course being a veggie, I can’t eat bacon, but still long for the taste of it and the smell has made me even more hungry and grumpy, as Hub too needs to lose weight just not as much as me. It’s OK him telling me to have cereal, so why didn’t he this morning and not wave the delightful fragrance under my nose? Not a happy Fi.
Hub says do something to keep my mind away from food? It’s not my mind at the moment that wants to be near food, it’s my stomach. It really feels as if it’s been cut. My ribs are burning, but hey, it’s only day one. I guess I’m in shock as Hub has never really been bothered about me being overweight, he said his ex-wife was really too skinny and he didn’t find it attractive, but now he is saying he is worried about my health. As am I.

I CAN'T HEAR THE SPARK BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Good evening Bloggets. Gosh, dinner time conversation tonight? Heavy or what? I made a lovely salad as yesterdays was a success so I repeated it today. Bake potatoes with cheese too. I made some slaw as well. There was just Hub and myself as Boy Wonder went out to dinner with his new friend.
Listening to the radio we got onto talking about those who take drugs. Why and how they have got into that situation. I tried to explain to Hub my theory. He didn’t agree of my analyses of how people start to sample with drugs.
I believe that we are all born with genetic switches that can be activated at different times of our lives. So if you are for example born with the pro to drug switch, and you have a certain upbringing, now, hold your horses, I’m so not saying you have to be born into a rough or lower class family or even uneducated, but a family who neglect teaching the lessons of certain morals or allow you to do more than you should at your age, even such as freedom to the extent that you are allowed to stay out later than you should as a child at nights. Or if you are brought up with what I call a silver spoon, so you don’t get taught the word no, and you are made to believe by your parents that you are so much better than anyone else, you will be seen to be different to your piers! Perhaps you will find it more difficult to make friends so when the opportunity for you to make friends, you will eat the situation up like the hungry person you have become. Hungry for the feeling to belong or needed or want to be popular. The thing is, those people are not wanting to be your friend. They want company to enjoy their habit with someone.
Have you ever noticed smokers? When they are at for example a party, one will learn that the other smokes so ask the other to go outside with them for a cigarette? They will turn into children and with some excitement, rush out together. They have a partner in crime if you like.
They, the smoker knows what they are doing is bad for their health, are they really bothered about their new friend? No. If they were, they wouldn’t encourage the other person to join them.
The person who is already into drugs, needs company. They feel safer in their early days of drugs in an army, rather than on their own. It won’t take long before they are okay being alone, but in the early days, they need you. If your switch is activated, if your life has thrown something in your direction that makes you need to feel part of the negative company, then you will go along and for once in your life, will feel part of society!
The story we were listening to I felt for the Mother. In the end, she took her adult daughter to the Police station. Then to court. She was a good Mum and had a good Husband/Father. But this is where my switch theory comes into action. The daughter didn’t feel like she fit in. So, she found a group of people where she belonged, in her opinion. She was dating a much older man, old enough to be her father. It was him who introduced her into drugs and these days some drugs you only need to make one mistake and you are hooked.
The thoughts are generalised. People say like a slip off the tongue. “She fell into bad company. He hung around those kinds of people.””
If that was the case everyone would be into drugs alcohol or smoking
And we aren’t so here is where the switches come into effect! My switch? Where to start? Gosh, the genetic switch is of interest to me as I’m adopted so from the age of four weeks I lived with my Mum and Dad who adopted me but I left the cold shell of my so called natural Mother, though there wasn’t a natural maternal bone in her body, when I was two days old.
My birth parents were very slim, one was a model the other a steeple jockey. I was born small and as a young child I was very tiny but then my fat gene kicked in how? I turned to food for comfort. Whenever I returned from boarding school where we were seriously almost starved, my Mum had my favourite food waiting for me. Home, I was home, safe away from the nasty place I had to be in most weeks’ days and nights. To taste my Mums food made me feel warm. Loved. Back soon though to the hell of a tea plate of food made as a job rather than made with love.
My Mum was huge and fed the world. Her cupboards were bursting with food her fridge was full of delights. So, from being starved to being so full I couldn’t move. Seeing my Mum overweight should have made me sit up and say I will never be like that, it has my Son. He is so healthy and is conscious of his body image, so the combination of his genetic switch perhaps being missing and the fact that I did my best to bring him up with only healthy food, as well as him looking at me and saying heck, no way Mum? Smile. If he had been born with the genetic button, then he wouldn’t in my opinion have been able to avoid the situation of not being in the best of shape and each day eating the wrong foods. So, this is what I mean about the switch and the way of upbringing.
Well I hope you have been able to understand the point I’m trying to get across, I must say it’s rather difficult to write about it as you may know, I touch type and each letter that I type my lap top talks to me, well the software that is in it talks. I’m having trouble in hearing what I am writing even though I have my earphones on, as I’m in our lounge and my love has the rugby on full blast. I must say I’m half listening to it, though I don’t understand a thing about it, apart from I think it should be band as it’s so dangerous and that rugby players have rather beautiful legs. Smile. But I love it because of the atmosphere. Oh, the singing is great. It’s Ireland v Wales tonight. The crowd are fantastic. Whereas football? Oh, sadly you almost can hear how drunk they all are.
OK, so now, we have the Hubsters loud TV Rugby, and he is also telling me about his recurring dream…. How am I meant to write? Haha. Come on Hub, my Bloggets won’t understand this blog? Or perhaps you can, it’s me who can’t hear what the heck A, my head is telling me to write and B, what my fingers are typing.
So, in brief. Boy Wonder has had a great day. He went to the gym with his friend and afterwards, thankfully he got his car back. Few. One thing has gone right for him and his car looks great. He then went out with his new friend who is a brilliant influence and he is very clever. Teen isn’t mixing with clever people anymore and he needs the stimulation. He enjoys his conversations we have around the table, but he needs that from those of his own age and all of his friends are at university, so he doesn’t see much of them. It was so lovely to see him on his return as for the first time in so many months, he had his spark back. Our Son has returned, the happy clever positive lad. Hub helped him to write his CV today too wow, it sounds amazing, Teen has a way with words and that combined with Hubs expertise in what people look out for on CV’s, was a great combination. I wish He had helped me a few months ago, mind you on reflection it wouldn’t have been a good move. Things happen for a reason it just may take us a bit longer to learn the reasons why?
Now BW is out at Shamrocks house.
It has rained all day. Hub and I went for our walk, only we walked for some miles but didn’t move in area. Sadly, as well, we walked without our dogs.
Where were we?
On the blooming treadmill…
OK, I must go now, someone has scored something, whatever the term is for rugby, and the volume has just been cranked up a notch. So, have a great weekend, I am going to publish this without reading it first as that would be impossible to do under these conditions smile. With love.

UPSIDE DOWN KIDS AND HOPE FOR RP BY FIONA CUMMINGS
It’s almost one in the morning. I have been to bed, even fell asleep. Gosh shock horror as I never sleep before at least two. Have I had my hour’s sleep? I feel so fresh. Haha. I’m not normal. I have come downstairs because I had to check the front door. Boy wonder has just took Shamrock home and I do get concerned that he has not locked it as Sham lives around the corner, so he may think what is the point? Well, he had locked it, well done but hadn’t closed the lounge door, or had he? Well I say that because our new doors were put on before Christmas, lovely, perfect, but then our painter came to stain them took the handles off and they have not closed properly since. So, one little Wagga nudge and they open. A smile on her face and she is happy on the sofa. So here I am, with a very warm cushion behind my back!
BW just come in and I asked him where on earth had he been? He has been away over half an hour. He said talking with Shamrock. Well what funny kids they are? They fall asleep by nine in the evening and on the way home after the pumpkin hour, they talk? We really do live in an upside down world.
Hub has some days to take off work before the end of this month so tomorrow is one of those. We don’t have any plans so far. We may go for a walk in the morning before the rain comes to visit. It won’t be anything exciting, just our normal walk to the shops and around past the monkeys in the playground and back home the long way.
Oh, I was cross when our online shopping came yesterday. Apparently, there was one item missing, so an item they couldn’t replace with anything, so something really unique, right? A one off? No other make like it? So, what was it? Blooming dish washer tablets. So only one make and one pack in the full supermarket? I couldn’t believe it.
I haven’t got any of my admin jobs done this week. I have so many to do as well. I don’t understand it, I used to be so organised like this. I think it’s because I simply can’t be bothered with people now companies are so unprofessional and it takes so long to get through to who you need to speak with. Also, my filing isn’t half as good as it used to be. Why? Not sure. I used to be very anal about filing. So, to look up what numbers I need then addresses?
I received my PIP forms yesterday so that is on my mind. Hubs just got sorted with his tax and now my PIP form. This should be fun?
Looking up trials for treatments for RP, here is what I found, if you live in Spain, A clinical research study of Intravitreal injection of Autologous bone marrow Stem Cell and Subconjunctival injection of saline for the treatment of Retinitis Pigmentosa
In El Palmer, I hope I have that spelling correct?
Italy, A clinical trial seeking patients for a research study for the treatment of Outer Retinal Degeneration or Retinitis Pigmentosa
Camposampiero
United Arab Emirates Stem Cell Ophthalmology Treatment Study
In Dubai
There are loads of places in the US and in the UK Moorfields hospital in London too. At least there is news that we have moved on from mice, though sadly we still study them. But there is a lot of trials going on and even starting phase II.
I believe Japan is the country to look out for. They are doing trials with three hundred people and are even up to phase 3. Gene therapy is so exciting. Personally, I can’t get so excited about artificial vision like microchips but something to restore sight as a fully sighted person would see gives me hope. One day I hope I’m writing not about hope for the future but how hope changed our lives!
Phase I is done with just a few people, phase II more and phase 3 hundreds of people. Then there is phase 4 and I believe that is the last phase before we have lift off. Most trials are phase I some two and as I said, Japan has phase 3. Each phase takes a few years and these trials are years after the animals. All it takes is to work with the animals, then if phase I goes wrong, back to the drawing board starting all over again. It’s not only frustrating reading about the trials, but it’s very confusing and sometimes I think one needs a degree in medicine to even comprehend the wordy documents.
Each morning I reluctantly open my eyes to receive a slap in the face as my dark day begins. At nights, I look like a fool, in the bathroom mirror to try to see my face. I mean, why would I suddenly see? I guess it’s because I believe in miracles. I believe in some kind of higher being and I have hope that one day my life will be part of the sighted world. In the meanwhile, I shall continue laughing crying feeling excited and devastated as well as love and be loved!
To close this blog for now, some quotes.

DIARY OF A JOG AND A LEAF BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Good evening Bloggets. It’s late and this is the first time I have been able to get my hands on the lap top today. Waggatail and I had to go out today, thankfully it was a lovely morning, the sun was shining and the wonderful wagging one weaved her way around people, plant pots, pillars, cars and whatever stupid shop signs that were sticking out just to test my dog’s ability to manoeuvre me around them and she did, though as it was busy today, I did feel rather sick with the ins and outs of it all.
Well, that was written last night and today is today. That shows what kind of day I had leading into the night. I didn’t even get chance to write a blog. Today is still sunny, mild but very windy, I have just had to rescue my lid of my dog box which was floating around my back garden and thankfully the wind blew just at the right time so I could hear it tapping along the path. It’s back on the box and a huge bag of soil or compost perhaps something, is on top of the thing now weighing it down.
Shamrock came around last night so we got chatting just as we were watching our program but we record it so we can see the ending tonight. Sham is always a jolly little soul to talk with. They had been out for a meal. Gosh I remember when I was 16. I had split up with someone I was very much in love with. I wasn’t a typical 16 year old having to grow up very fast in my life, I felt as if I had lived three lives already! But at the end of the day, I was sixteen, and signs of that did come through, especially the way in which I handled the breakup of my boyfriend.
I have written before about him. I met him when I was just thirteen, an yet he didn’t come into my heart until I was fourteen. I didn’t even recall seeing him the year before. He remembered me, but said because I didn’t even make eye contact, he best leaves it alone. Well, I for sure made eye contact this time. It was my Mum who said there is a very handsome young man looking at me and smiling. I turned around to see the most exquisitely good looking person I had and have, ever seen in my life.
It went beyond good features though. Our hearts connected through the vestals of our eyes.
Then again, my age or immaturity showed as I stud up. Why? Not sure, but it prompted him to come over to me and introduce himself to me. I was speechless. Red I’m sure by the absolute manner in which I composed myself. As I have said before, I’m so not cool. But he agreed that I wasn’t cool, in fact the opposite he thought I was positively hot, smile. Long and short of it, we fell in deep love. I would be with him forever. He was eighteen. Gosh, I couldn’t tell him of my age, overnight I became 16. I begged my Mum not to say anything about my real age. She complied and a lie was born!
If I ever get to write my autobiography, I shall let you know the shocking story which followed that meeting, but for two years we were together, kind of. When we broke up, I couldn’t handle it. Especially as he proposed just six month before. Saying that when I was older, he would marry me and we would live a very beautiful life. But that was not meant to be. But on our break, up, I was in a difficult situation personally and had to get out of my space, away from my head. I just dated any good looking guy who asked me out. At one point, shamefully I dated five men at once but before you go all moral on me, I didn’t sleep with them. Anyhow, after a while I settled down to just two of them and oddly, they were not as handsome as the ones I teased just more normal. We went out for dinner, I was so embarrassed as one time I went for dinner on the Tuesday night with one boyfriend, then Wednesday afternoon the same restaurant with another and Saturday night I went to the same place again, with a friend who happened to be a man. And that was a funny story, because when my friend visited the little boys room, a man came and introduced himself to me. He was the restaurants accountant. Well, he was an accountant for many business’s but was working with the place I was in. He was also having a meal, I would guess, a perk of the job. Any way, he gave me his card with his name and number asking me to call him. I never did and I have no regrets about that. But where I was in life, I had really enough of men by this point. I wanted a break. My Mum thought I was having a nervous breakdown and her reactions were well, not good. I sunk into the deepest of depressions yearning for my love to at least tell me why he felt the need to end our relationship?
My heart was shattered. My almost seventeen years on earth were far from the best and I decided to be driven in life and go where I was told. My ex Husband was sent to me to care for my parents, as I have said before, he was the best Son in law. My parents loved him. I can tell you now, I believed my life was over. I had no care for myself or my future. I existed. I was a good wife to my ex, cooked for him cleaned his house and did whatever he asked. All I asked in return was to have a lovely home in a good area. I’m sure he hates me for that, as he was quite happy in the council house we first lived in. But my house was my prison, and to me I needed at least a pleasant place to perform my duties of a wife.
Going back to how I started this story, apart from the time when I had restaurant gate, smile, to go out to a restaurant wasn’t the norm. To kids these days, well, my Son, as he is an exception, to spend a hundred pounds for a meal is nothing. Certainly, my Husband and I couldn’t do that as much as those two do now.
Talking of boy wonder, he is due in for his lunch soon, he has had a few mornings starting at half six so is really tired. He has the day off tomorrow though and is meeting with his friend, guess where? For a meal, but then they are going on to train at the gym. Hopefully not immediately after a meal? He is a relatively new pal, so here’s hoping a new friendship as he needs to branch out as all of his friend’s drink that is their only form of entertainment and Teen has a much wider expectation on life. Thankfully.
Shamrock isn’t the sporty kind of gal so he needs to make a friend who is, to get rid of stress or any kind of boredom he may have. It’s odd but when my Son is happy, I’m happy. When he is upset in any kind of way, it probably affects me more than it does him!
Since starting this blog, my Son has been in for lunch. Sitting eating his food, he began to tell me how he was talking to his bestie the other day and saying just how worried he was about my health…. Oh boy, nice. I asked what did he mean? He replied he was really worried sick about my weight. He is scared he is going to lose me. I really don’t want him to feel like this, I knew what it was like to worry about parents. Mine I would lay awake at boarding school so upset thinking they are going to die, but with me, it was their age. Looking back, my Mum smoked like a chimney and she was hugely overweight. but it was her age I worried about.
Now I’m sitting here feeling like rubbish. With some people, it would inspire them to get up and exercise. Me, sadly the opposite. I’m a born quitter.
The program we were watching last night was about celebrities who are looking to retire and India is their place of choice. It’s a great show, I have written before about how much I love anything to do with India. The people, culture and country fascinates me. I love people watching, I really like to get into other people’s minds and learn how they tick. This program is a good study into that.
Well I shall go and chew on a lettuce leaf and jog around the kitchen. X

CONTACT AND THE CANE BY FIONA CUMMINGS
We are joined by Sweden, UK, US, Canada, Ireland, Pakistan, Portugal, Spain, France and Germany. If you are from a country not written here, then you are just out of the ten countries that are listed. I wish I could read all the countries rather than just the ten top ones.
I was asked again today about my autobiography. A lovely lady asked me how I was doing with it? I told her I procrastinate too much, but one day… I hope it will be out there.
I was reading about people being afraid of using the white cane especially as they have some vision still. Here was my message to them.
Learn to care about yourself rather than others opinions. Gosh I remember those days when I was so bothered about what people thought, putting myself into significant discomfort just to try to fit in. Well, the day the penny dropped, was a day of having my chains removed. Your safety is so much more important than what those think, people who wouldn’t be there if you fell or if you needed help.
Don’t look at their faces if you do have some vision, just blank their features. It’s a powerful feeling to get somewhere on your own by using your cane and your first steps to your kind of freedom.
People are very cruel though, gosh I had some dreadful things said to me in the past and if only I had the way about me then to say to them. “If I told you your brain was an ap, perhaps you would start using it?””
I told you last night I made some cauliflower and stilton soup? Well it’s been in the fridge all night, but now the beast has been released. Gosh. Let’s say I am going through my fragranced candle at a rate you wouldn’t believe.
I received an email today asking what my top five wishes would be? Here they are.
In no particular order.
1, sight for those who are blind and want it.
2, end of cruelty to animals
3, world peace
4, to be thin
5, long healthy life for those I love.
And if I could have more, because I’m greedy?
6, for us not to experience grief.
7, to clean up the planet.
8, for my Son to find a wonderful perfect for him, partner who makes him laugh every day and be loved with all of her heart.
9, to spend more time with my friends and 10, whatever you are wishing for now.
If you wish to ask me anything or ask for me to write something for you, then please contact me via email?

DIARY OF THE WATER JUG BY FIONA CUMMINGS
It’s really sunny out there, I should pop out but, I’m still waiting for the parcel from our Doxford weekend. If there is nothing delivered today, I shall phone them and ask if it got posted?
Feeling very sick. I have gorged two doorstops of cake. Shocking. I’m not really a cake person unless it’s homemade then, oh boy… Tie my hands behind my back.
And feed me. Smile.
On Facebook, today, it was suggested to me some groups I may wish to join. Well, here are just a few choices and perhaps you can help me to decide which ones I should add my name to?
People with foot drop
Total hip replacement forum
and Superman man of steel.
Em, I won’t be joining those groups, not today any way.
I do have a page feel free to join me on Facebook? My page is called Fiona Cummings. How original is that? Haha.
I was reading the news last night, well, more like quarter to four this morning after three nights in a row of no sleep. Seriously, perhaps an hour but interrupted. My thoughts are taking over me and dictating what little sleep I should have. I’m really stressing about a couple of things, one being somewhere I have to go and I really don’t know how I am going to get there and it’s important. I’m afraid to ask for help after the last time I asked when sadly people were too busy with their own lives, and why not? I know if it were a matter of life and death I could get someone, but as it’s not, I hate asking. The guilt I feel is too bad. I hope my Son will be off and will be able to take me?
Well the news I read said twin ladies of 97 both died on the same day as they slipped in their yard. How sad an yet beautiful is that? I mean, if you live close for that many years, how do you manage without the other?
Boy wonder is happy as it’s not long before he is off to Prague. Just another couple of weeks. I just hope that Shamrock will allow him to appreciate the culture of the place, rather than sleep shop and eat. It will be her first holiday away from her parents and I know Boy wonder will look after her, but the question is, who will look after BW? Haha.
My Son is proud that he has been asked to be promoted. They are fast tracking him for management but to be honest, where he works, it’s a long way to go until you earn a decent amount of money and have the responsibility that his brain requires. What he does now, most kids could do and trying to get him to attend night school, is like pulling out teeth. Not Hubs… Talking of Hub he is on a long shift at work today again, it took him an hour and twenty minutes to get home last night, so a long day, but I quite like the fact I have longer in the day to do stuff. I didn’t say I have done the stuff, but you know, they say it’s the thought that counts, right?
I guess that is my prompt to get motivated. Oh boy, dinner again, what to do tonight? Washing machine to empty, put in the dryer and iron then empty four vases of flowers, wash them out the vases, that is, and do the floors, there is also dusting that I should have done yesterday and the dreaded dog run.
What have I done today? I posted a poem I wrote for someone’s wedding this Saturday brushed a Wagging one, played with her and her toys and tidied up Teens lunch dishes, seriously, what I had for him wasn’t good enough so he made himself bacon and eggs with toast and it was like a murder scene in the kitchen, so all that is cleaned away, now I’m blooming started, our coffee machine cleans itself out by releasing water before and at the end of a cycle. The water falls into a tray. All I ask is for the jug a small chrome jug I have to be put under the tap? An easy request, right? It saves me having to take the machine apart and emptying it. Well, Boy Wonder hasn’t got to grips with that little helpful chore, so every day I have the coffee machine to do. Don’t get me started what he does with the coffee grinds?
Right until later Bloggets. Take care cos I care. X

ISCHIA AND THE BUNDT TIN BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Good day Bloggets. I end my blog today on a dream. One day I would love to go to this place, one day if I ever get sight. To see such beauty can only be witnessed with vision. Some countries you can go to and just soak up in the atmosphere, sounds, smells and climate of the place, but the place I am writing about today, I believe you must see. More on this paradise in a mo jo!
Gosh Hub still has his cold, really, I’m starting to really believe that moving here wasn’t a good idea. I believe his immune system is low any way with his travels abroad and he tells me that when he was with his ex, he didn’t eat well because he was busy working all day and by the time he came home at nights, he was too tired to cook for himself, his waist line certainly proved he didn’t eat much. Smile, Last night I made a two course meal, starting with something I have never made before so I was reluctant to see how it would turn out. It was soup of cauliflower and stilton cheese. So, I washed the cauliflower and put it in a pan of water which had two vegetable stock cubes in. I added salt and then a roughly chopped onion and two cloves of garlic with a grated potato and a couple of grated mushrooms. When the pan had been cooking for about fifteen minutes, I put the blender in the pan, some may choose to wait until the pan has cooled but I like living dangerously. Smile. I then added a few fresh herbs and continued cooking. Adding a little more salt, just a tiny bit with lots of black pepper and finally some stilton cheese. Turned the hob off, yesterday was my lucky day, I was able to turn on our stupid hob, and then off again, so no need to either take a hammer to smash the blooming frustrating thing up, or call the fire brigade out to turn off my fire. Haha.
When it came to serving, it was a smoothed appearance. In the soup dishes, I served more stilton, just a little and a dollop of sour cream. Gosh, what would it taste like? Wow, it was really lovely. I was quite surprised. Hub said it was sophisticated soup. Hmm. I would rather he said it was tasty. So, what were we meant to do whilst eating it? Where a dinner jacket?
I just served it with some hot garlic bread. So, you can imagine what my kitchen smelled like? Not good. My lovely WoodWick candle helped me out there.
My friend brought us some homemade cake again, yesterdays was chocolate and caramel. Gosh, you should see the shape of it? I asked her how on earth did she get that shape? The cake, not her, and she said it was the cake tin, it is called a bundt tin. Take note of the spelling? B U N D T! She thinks it’s German. Well, I just had to do some research and to be honest, baking cakes terrifies me. I think I would rather sky dive…. Oh my, that would be a cloudy day? See if this link works, but if it does, come back to read about my new place of discovery?

Wow, I have found a new paradise, well it sounds beautiful. Bloggets will know that though I dream of living in Canada, why? Not sure, it’s a kind of inner feeling. But my favourite country in the world so far… Is Italy, well, I came across a place called Ischia. Gosh, if I were an artist I would head here to drown in the colourful architecture and the natural surroundings.
For meat eaters, there is a huge choice of food, but for me? No words I could find mentioning the word vegetarian. But there will always be the delicious salads, cheeses and breads. And I’m sure that I would find pizzas and pastas too. But the descriptions of the restaurants wow, I have never read such amazing sounding places in my life. Our country is so boring in comparison to some others, especially Ischia. My words won’t do it justice and whenever I try to put a link in my blogs, it goes wrong, I shall try again, but don’t fancy my chances.

WHY STILL MICE? BY FIONA CUMMINGS
Looking at the viewing Bloggets today, I see a place I have not seen before. Chechia. Used to be known as the Czech Republic. From what I can gather they changed their name hoping to make it easier for people for things like sports logos for example. Gosh, maybe it will for the young, but not for those of us who remember the old way. Czech is much easier to remember than Chechia. Well whoever you are, welcome and I hope you come again to read my mad world of sensible crazy words. Haha.
Oh, today I have so much to do and its things that I have been putting off for so long. In the days when I was so organised when life seemed to run smoother as far as time to do administration work, the days especially when I could put pen to paper and read what I had written. Now everything is taken down electronically and thank goodness for that, but it really messes with my mind. I’m sure tech is killing my short term memory.
I have to take a pill every day. I brought the box downstairs after I had left it in a bag when I went to the chemist and with my coat, I stupidly took the bag up there too. So, I put the box of pills in the drawer where I keep them and ate breakfast. Then, had I taken the pill or not? Oh, could I remember? Nope, not on your Nellie. So, the only option was to take another. I don’t think they will do me any harm…. …. ….
Hub working a long shift today staying back at work and Teen not in till eight tonight. The house smells of bacon as my Son has had that for his breakfast. My dog has brought me her Kong where by you put treats in for her. I do, once a day one treat. But then she gets it out and brings it back, really trying her luck… Little Fella does the same and when you take no notice to him, he growls and tries to climb on your knee.
My friend popped in today so a nice chat. Well there was a cringe moment. We have the Avon lady who comes and delivers magazines selling her products of perfumes make up and other things, and you are meant to read through it then leave your order on your doorstep for her to collect it. She brings your order back a few days later. As any junk comes to us we recycle it… So, whilst our neighbours all had their books outside for collection, ours was safely in the bin. Little did I know, but she only went and knocked on my door, asking for the book? Hahaha. I told her I didn’t have it, first thing I could think of was to say my Husband has put it somewhere as I can’t see the book, and what did she answer? Wait for this one?
“Oh, don’t worry, if you can ask your Husband, if he has finished looking through it, I will be back tonight at five.!”
Em. So just found it in the recycling bin. At least I hope it’s that? Imagine if it’s a car magazine?
Raining again, but mild. Teen didn’t come home for lunch today. At least he let me know. He said he is finishing at eight, then going to the gym then to Shamrocks. He is at work tomorrow at six, so I hope he isn’t going to have another late night? He won’t be finished at the gym until ten. When he will eat his dinner, not sure.
My friend was telling me that she had a magpie nesting in her cherry tree. I wonder if we have anything in our apple tree? I wouldn’t know. Oh, the stress of our garden is starting to get to me as the spring gets warmer.
There are many things on the internet about how to make the best cup of tea. Well most of the reading says to leave your tea five minutes before drinking, surely it will have started to get cold by then? In my opinion, this is a perfect cupper.
Firstly, your kettle. Make sure it’s filter is clean. We now have a water heater rather than a kettle and it’s great as you don’t pour, so no burning fingers, you put your cup under it and turn the dial to what size cup of whatever you want.
If you are using a tea pot, warm it first with some hot water for a couple of minutes. Tip the water out, then fill it with water along with one tea bag per person and one for the pot, so for a pot for four people or two big cups each for two people, four bags and one for the pot so in total fie bags.
Now tea bags are really important. My favourite is Yorkshire Gold. Not just Yorkshire, but Gold on the end as there are two different kinds.
Pour a little milk only the size of your thumb nail and take a spoon to teas the bags in the pot a little then pour. Perfect. If you are doing just a cup, pour your milk a tiny bit, add a bag then pour water on top. Boiling water. Leave for a minute then again, mash gently for a few seconds then remove the bags.
Real tea leaves are more difficult again one spoon per person and one for the pot but make sure you use a good strainer not to get leaves in your cup, unless you read them, smile. I have written before about our neighbour who read our tea leaves, and she was so accurate. I think those people are psychic and just use the tea leaves as some kind of focus.
Reading articles today from ffb.ca, with regards to the race for sight answered a good question why the heck we are still at the stage of working on mice? The article you I hope will find a link at the bottom here but the only part that scared me was at the end it read keep tuned in we are only starting. It was 2016 when they discovered mice could be helped to see so ten years ago, here is why.
