DURHAM CATHEDRAL ALL PARTS

I’m typing fast as have to sleep earlier than the norm. Up early tomorrow. We are off again on our travels. But today? Well, we got to the train station. Now it’s Ladies day at the races, only thing is, people have forgot to tell the females who are attending the horse racing that to enter “Ladies day” you have to be a lady?

Oh really some women in our country are shameful. Ladies? I don’t think so. But tomorrow, oh that will be hell on earth. It’s the busiest race day throughout the year and I quote so many people I spoke with today. “The gypsies are coming” They have such a bad reputation they fight shout swear steal and more. And guess who’s going back to the train station? Yep, Fifi Blogget and Hub, but this time, LC is joined by little Waggatail. God help me. She will freak out. Oh I’m dreading it. She is a country bumpkin like her Mummy and doesn’t do town. But towns with the Gypsies?

Extra police are on duty and the staff at the station are dreading it.

Well tomorrow is tomorrow and I’m excited to see our friends. We are meeting up with our dear Trix and the Like man. They also are blind and I sent them a Tex saying

“We will meet with you in Newcastle you will know it’s us as we will have a daffodil in our lapel.

Oh. And a couple of guide dogs will be by our side.”

Trix replied saying she would be carrying the Guardian newspaper under her arm. Haha. Thing is, if none of us talk, we could be standing next to each other and not have a clue.

Anyway, tomorrow is tomorrow. Another day another blog. As for today?

We got to our seats on the train,  and though Hub and I didn’t sit next to each other we both had the company of other passengers. I was sat next to a man who entertained me I was telling him we were going to see our daughters singing in the Cathedral choir and that was fine, until he asked me what kind of performances they gave. Well, “Churchy stuff? Haha really, say what? Oh heck it was all going so well. A boastful Mummy about her chicks and then the question? I mean, I am clueless when it comes to Cathedrals. Choirs. I was in the choir all of my school life we went abroad to perform and I was in singing groups. But as for the girls? Well, they are in a cathedral choir so what kind of music would they sing other than churchy stuff, right? But I’m sure that wasn’t the correct answer. I’m sure I should have sounded more knowledgeable and a little more cultured. And possibly have replied. A Choral recital of  Bach’s St Matthew Passion, we will also be privileged to Hymnus Paradisi, but to be honest, I would be in fear he would have offered me some ointment or at the very least, a pain killer? I don’t know what kind of music the girls would be singing. Just know they were, and we were going to see them as Hub loves that kind of music and we wanted to see them singing together.

Said bye bye to the nice man and on our way we went. Got to the taxi rank and a very sweet elderly man drove us to the cathedral.

Well as we left the car and walked up the wide pathway with grass and trees at each side of us, I almost cried.

The sweet air of the North East. My home my dear place of birth. The air. I was like a junky walking towards the bells. Snorting the air as we walked. I found it incredulous that to travel an hour away made the difference of the fragrance. Where I live it is as polluted as is the South in fact even when we went to France, near the beach, the air was not good in comparison to the North East of the UK.

Well, what happened next? I will let you know when I get some shut eye but it did make me pleased that I have left the North East.

Part two

Good Day Bloggets. Well at last I am sitting down to have a chat with you all. A busy weekend. Firstly with our visit to Durham Cathedral to see our girls singing in the choir. They were amazing. Cathedrals are so not my thing, but Hub loves them and I wanted to see our girls as they are performing in even song at the Cathedral. As I said earlier, as we stepped out from the taxi. The fresh air was so heavenly. The greenery. I so miss that about where I used to live. The air is so clean. As we got out of the taxi, we asked if he could assist, but he did a typical thing and pointed. We asked him which way he was pointing, well, then we had Left and Right Gate. Honestly. People who don’t need to verbalise make us laugh how they don’t know their left from their right. They just do it, you know what I mean? Anyway, he then clicked on and physically tapped the shoulder of which way he meant. He was a nice old fella. So we began walking. I didn’t care by that point. We had done part one of our journey. That was awful as the amount of people at the station was terrible.  Also no assistance booked. But we did find someone helpful who showed us our seats as obviously they were booked. So we had to sit in a particular place.

We passed a lot of respectful whisperers. As this place is of absolute respect. It’s apparently the most beautiful Cathedral and the walk to it certainly was. The fragrance of fresh grass and blooms filled the unpolluted air.

There were no steps. Thankfully, as steps is my nightmare. I had my white cane Waggs was at home; it would be her turn the day after. At least with a white cane, you know if there is a step and how big the gap is getting onto the train. With a Guide dog, you have to trust their judgement. Sadly I fail in that department.

As I followed Hub he was being guided by the amazing Longchops. Oh she is a superb dog. She headed towards what we hoped was the building. Again, trust. Me, I would be wondering if we were going in the right direction, but Hub totally trusts LC.  And as I felt the warmth and the air changing, using all of my senses, I knew we were heading the right way. But it’s enormous. So the door? Now this is where a white cane can’t assist. A Guide dog, should, take you to the door. And good old Chopsy did. We went up the steps, through a door. Well, we got in and the other doors were closed. All of them in a line. I said to Hub perhaps it’s locked until time for the service. Well, there were people looking at us and you would think that charitable Christian people would come and help us out? Right?

I could feel myself getting more and more anxious. I hate feeling as though I look a fool. As we tried to open door after locked door, no one came until I asked a person behind us to help. She laughed and said, oh yes there is no more awkward doors than these ones.

“So why didn’t you come and help? Well, I didn’t say that, but I wanted to.

Any way we were in. Oh shivers down my spine. Seriously these places scare me. I sense spirits and fear. I don’t know what it is, a church I’m not bad but a Cathedral? The smell and the Absolut feeling. Well there would be someone at the doorway like there is in our hometown Cathedral, right?

Wrong. We stood to wait to see if anyone would come to our rescue, as it’s not a case of just walking in and sitting down. There are ropes so places you can’t go, nothing is in a straight line. There are steps inside and ramps. Its vast space makes you disoriented. Well I have written about before how Hub is amazing outside but in buildings goes a little like me outside. Not a lot like me, as that would be ridiculous. Anyhow, I soon realised that no one was coming to help, so I took over the guiding I used my echo to find our way, slowly we walked down the aisle. To the left then down to the right. We then stood as we heard voices and of course someone would ask if we needed help. Em… Nope.

A little further we walked. Stood. We could then hear the choir rehearsing. They sounded really good. Then Hub got tearful. That was his girls singing. He was one proud Daddy and I loved that.

Oh but where would we sit? We were still miles away from them. So on we went to find a seat by following the singing. Well, as we got closer, it was rather funny as a little man came to us, obviously scared we were going to cause some damage to some fine relic. Or dare to interrupt the choir. Well, at first the horrid little individual didn’t know how to show us where to go. He made a bit of a thing about it. I say horrid little man because he was little, and we were sure that he was the man many years before who wouldn’t allow us to clime the tower with our kids. Health and safety. But in the end, allowed our children who were nine, ten and eleven to go on their own. We had to wait like naughty school kids I was so cross. But we didn’t’ want the kids to not experience the tower.

How to make us feel so different. You know would he dare do that to sighted parents?  No, he wouldn’t. And as for health and safety, well what about those who have heart problems? I mean, that is something you can’t see but because our eyesight is obvious, we were condemned.

Well, LC kept stopping. Then the little man with the most perverted voice. Stopped in front of Hub and said as a ghost would.

“She. Keeps. Stopping. Because, I keep. Stopping.”

I just wanted to say in the same slow voice.

“Well. What. In Gods. Name are you. Stopping for?

But I didn’t. I was good. Then thank Goodness, our eldest daughter came to us or I’m not sure we would have got far.

She placed us in a seat then after rehearsal, came back to us and sat us right next to where the two of them were going to be standing singing.

They all went off and then back to sing after a break. The person leading the service was fine, told of depressing bible stories. All about killing, I thought there is enough killing on the news; I don’t want to hear it in here. But I did listen to the singing the service was lovely the girls sang so well. Not one note was wrong.  All of the kids were brilliant. I say kids there were adults too. And of course our big girl now is eighteen, so in a way she is an adult. Hmm. Don’t know if I can ever see my kids as adults though, to me they will always be our babies.

At the end of the forty five minute service, we walked out with our youngest daughter. That was after we got half way again up the Cathedral towards where we thought we would find the door out. Our daughter asked where we would get our taxi from. We said at the front. Well that was funny, as she then told us there was loads of doors which entrance? Well, I just told her it was double doors. So she looked around and found the correct door. That would have been funny if we were stood waiting for our taxi and at the wrong entrance?

We stood with the girls for some moments and then we got in our taxi.

Sad to say goodbye to the kids. But they are so brave and amazing in their school holidays, to dedicate their week for a course of singing. That is what they were on that is why they were at that choir, rather than the one where they live as and additional group if you like. They sing all year at school and now our eldest has a scholarship with the choir. But this was extra. Most kids are in their bedroom on the computer. But they give a week to this. Shows dedication.

We got to the train station. The driver said up that path. So LC did her stuff I followed reluctantly. Shaking. Through noises of traffic, suitcase wheels passengers and trains as well as announcements. Now, to find the desk to ask for help getting on the train? And would they help?

We walked; bare in mind we both are totally blind. And then we felt the air. No walls at our side, but a roof so at first was difficult to know we were outside, but when we learned we were, we turned around went in a different direction and were then in the middle of everything I heard an official voice so we followed that with the noise couldn’t hear what he was saying, but the tone? It was someone who could hopefully help.

On the train, to the taxi rank and home. Locked the sighted world out put on the kettle and time to reflect our day. , but we did what parents do. We did it for our kids.

SHAKING FRIDAY

Today I’m shaking. I’m so anxious. We are travelling by train and we have no assistance as you have to book it the day before and it closes at six. We booked the train online after that time. So I’m totally on edge. I think we are  crazy. Tomorrow? We are off again. This time we have booked assistance but only half way. Oh gosh. Heart in mouth. Want to hide.

Think we are mad. Absolutely mad.

I was growing my nails for the first time they reached a level of shape and beauty. Today? One left.

Hub working hard in his office upstairs. Oh I still haven’t got around to gutting that room. Oh it’s a glorified cupboard. We have four bedrooms but three of them are so small. Teen’s is the largest.

Its Friday again. Funny how that comes around every week?

Some smiles, Lord knows I need one?

A lady was driving and got pulled up by the traffic police. The police man asked to see Maisie’s licence. He turned to her and said

“It says here that you should be wearing glasses!” Maisie replied.

“I have contacts!”

“I don’t care who you know, you’re still going to get a ticket.”

The old lady answered her door. A young salesman standing with a vacuum cleaner asked if he could demonstrate his product to her. She said no. She began to close the door. The man put his foot in the way and began to pour some horse manure on her hall carpet. He said now madam. My promise to you is this. If my vacuum can’t clean this up, I will eat whatever is left. That is how sure I am this vacuum works. The old lady smiled and said.

“Let me get you a spoon then, as they turned off my electricity yesterday.”

I was told that this is a real American proverb. But I find it so difficult to believe. “Its bad luck to fall out of the thirteenth floor window on Friday the thirteenth…. Really? And what if you fall out of it any other day? It’s Okay I guess? Haha.

Now we have all done this, when we have a baby, we see what day they are born and this will say what kind of child we are going to have, right? So if you give birth on a Friday, they say.

Friday’s child is loving and giving.

I hope you all have some love today whether it be from a person or pet. X

DIARY OF PASS THE LAUGHS ON

I’m totally struggling with life at the moment. You know when your life is before you and you have no control? It’s as though someone is moving me in a direction I have never been before. It’s completely out of my comfort zone and it’s simply weird. Almost as though I’m watching the big screen. I want to press pause, but the button isn’t working.

Our evening was spent watching a documentary on how the Jews tried to hide away run away anything to get away from the Germans in the war.  Gosh it was harrowing. And as I always say, what have we learned? Where have we gone in the direction of peace? Nowhere. We have stood still in time. Learned nothing lessons have been there in front of us but our Governments, presidents and Royalty, have continued to punish and be punished and young lives we are allowing for their lives to dissolve. Tragedy came but didn’t go away. It stayed. We have all of these memorial days and so on, laying reefs travelling to destinations of earlier bloodshed, but why? It’s a sick joke. We then fight. We enter lands war zones where we don’t belong. I envy countries like Switzerland, as they had civil wars and from my basic knowledge their last war was around 1847, but I’m no expert, all I know is there are countries out there still who don’t attend  modern conflicts! What do those people have in their lives we are obviously lacking?

Then there was train gate. Oh boy. Why didn’t we book our train travel some weeks ago when we knew of our plans? Well we were not sure of our girl’s plans and we have just learned that they are unable to meet with us after their performance at the Cathedral. So no meal or anything, streight back on the train, which in Hein site is a good thing as Wagga isn’t going. Her big day is Saturday.

Then there is our friend’s house. All in all, with tomorrow and Saturday, our train fair is costing about £135

On Saturday we are off to our friends house JB. We are seeing our other friends Trix, Like, Tracey and Mr. Clock.  I’m pleased to say that mad Maggie isn’t going to be there. She was an odd cookie, sadly I had good memories of her from school, and she was one of the house staff for the deaf and blind. But her last behaviour with my friends was a little harsh, so she won’t be welcomed back to anyone’s house. Mr. Clock is bringing some hangers on. Haha haha. They will gate crash our party. I have met them before and they are interesting. The best part will be seeing the five friends we like and feel at ease with. Now Wagga? Let’s see how she behaves on harness at the station. She will love her day out that is for sure, but my poor friend’s house with total five dogs? We will keep ours on leash throughout the day; I can’t stand it when people let their dogs run free in other people’s houses. It’s rude.

Heck, I hope I’m not going to eat my words? Next thing you read, my Wagga has gone ballistic in JB’s garden? The only way she will do that is if I get too drunk on me one glass of wine. But been in charge of a guide dog whilst under the influence, isn’t a good look. I don’t want to be accused of being blind drunk. You know me, it only takes one glass. And I just laugh. It’s embarrassing.

But I’m so looking forward to seeing everyone this week. Tomorrow and Saturday. I’m going to hopefully go to my brothers on Sunday of next week too but a lot depends on that. Though it will be lovely to see the family again.

Then my friend Julie is coming for the weekend. I love her can’t wait. And then?

Dun

Durum

Du’urrn

My mad Aunt G is entering the train station to pay a visit. Oh heck. Who will she wolf whistle on that day? Who will she ogle? Who will she insult? Make laugh? Cry? Will she remember her teeth?

Yep, my delight I call my Aunt, is coming to see us. God bless her.

And me!

Hahahahaha. Everyone has to have a mad Aunt. My Nieces have one that’s for sure.

My lovely friend and neighbour came over today we had a lovely chat. Such a kind person. I would say the heart of the street.

Teen is out. It’s almost midnight. I hope he will be back soon. He has an exciting day soon. More on that later. Perhaps. Still not sure the evil one isn’t reading this? She used to but now? Perhaps she has bored herself. She for sure bores me.

I wonder how she got on with her exams. No doubt she will have done well? I would hope so with her hundreds of thousands of pounds on her private education. Nine in her class, almost one to one lessons from the age of three. If she doesn’t do well, there isn’t much chance for others? My little one got her results today with her GCSE’s. She received two A*, eight A’s and two B’s.

I mean, that is unnatural. She’s a genius. It’s in the blood, Haha.

Whilst my eyes are full of sand, I’m rather exhausted, I want to write so much, but sadly my brain is starting to get confused and that doesn’t take much but on that note, I will go and return possibly after my adventures tomorrow. We haven’t booked assistance for our train, so I’m rather, no, very anxious. Let’s just hope we get there and back without any incidents.

One and a half hours there, same back, so three hours door to door for a 45 minute service. I know it will be worth it though, let’s hope our Long Chops doesn’t decide to sing half way through. I’m not really sure what is expected of me. How to stand and so on, but I will take guidance from Hub. He is the king of Cathedrals….. Me? Em. I have been known to face the wrong way before. Stand on LC’s paw and make her scream. Put money in a collection and miss the pot... Pot? I’m sure it has a more elegant name than pot? Can you imagine the Dean, or, Rector, saying. “Bless you my child. Hand the pot around?  And I always mime words, that’s OK, as long as all those around you don’t mime. Then one finds oneself in a quiet zone.

Oh, so much to tell you such little time. I spoke with my friend who is a teacher today. We always have a great chat. She’s so intelligent I love her words. She laughs so much as well when we talk. I love to make people laugh, or, is she laughing at me? Hehehe. Oh, I’m past caring, if she is, well, pass the laughs on.

WORDS BEFORE BED BY FIONA CUMMINGS

WORDS BEFORE BED

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Before I place my head upon my pillow

I put my hands together

Go into a state so very mellow

And see a pure white feather

For the angels paid a visit

Disaster found my family

Because of the angels they missed it

What could have been tragedy

Turned into a lesson

I can thank those who showed protection

And I’m grateful for this blessing

A kiss upon their brow

Some angelic affection

Why and how?

Did they watch over my loved ones?

I want to keep, all that’s pure

I’m so lucky I can sleep, that’s one thing for sure

At a different time

Life could have gone so wrong

To remove those who in my heart make me strong

Who whistle the tune to my song

And give me life where I don’t belong

Who make my heart dance with pride

Who push me forward when I want to hide

To leave me alone

Make me shiver to my bones

To live in a building that should be my home

But they were all saved

To carry on for another day

A wing reached out

Silenced not a sound

No voices did shout

Wings almost round

Blocked a devil on horseback

Wearing black

Fork in hand

But the angels blocked the plan

And for that I will be forever grateful

For something so very beautiful

Please watch over my loved ones

Keep them from trouble

Out of the dark rubble

And guide them to knowledge so safe

A happy place

Let them see the sun through your face

Feel your love in their heart

Allow them to be smart

Then we will never part

For I get life through their veins

And their success

Are all my gains

Build a fortress

Heel their pains

In the darkness

Hand them a torch

Wrap your wings around them

Please never forget them

Last night the devil paid them a visit

But you showed them something exquisite

 And that was your love

From heaven above

FAMILY CAR CRASH

Good day Bloggets. Well, last night wasn’t exactly the evening I had planned; our daughter was to meet with a friend of my Sons in our town. So it was raining and my Hub didn’t want her meeting with the lad on her own, so asked my boy to go with her. He drove her there parked up and the three of them had coffee. All going well then it came to driving home. Teen kindly offered rather stupidly to take is and our girls new friend home. I say stupidly, because he lives absolutely miles away. It was bucketing down with rain. Cold too. On their way teen went far too fast around a corner and his car span around the other way. Thank God no other cars were coming. As he turned it the right way, his back wheels went in a ditch. No one was hurt. But they couldn’t get the car out.

Teen thankfully had some sense left in him and went to a local farmer. The farmer kindly pulled him out with a truck and rope. Teen offered money to the farmer but the man was kind enough to say no thanks. Teen said he was a really kind guy.

Would the little car live? It did and thank our maker so did our kids, I only hope that this will be a lesson? I’m not too sure though. It was a small accident and his first, but I pray it will be his last. Talking to friends today, all of their kids have done the same, but this could have been avoided. What is it with young ones and speeding? Why? The thrill I guess!

So our girl left for the train station in a taxi. Teen wasn’t very amused. He said he felt used. As he has been kindly taking us places over the past week. But really, it’s so sad that we have to stay out of the car until he grows up enough to be sensible. I wouldn’t care, but only last week when we were at my in laws, my brother in law raced teen with his car. Teen was so good and didn’t play the game. I was proud of him. And he drove there so well, mind you, coming back he was a little crazy; he was travelling on the motorway at speed. He tells me when he goes to see his father, he speeds. I pray it will be a long time before he goes there again. I only wish he would go there by train. It’s cheaper for sure rather than putting petrol in.

Next week he is driving for miles to the festival. My heart will be in my mouth especially because he is taking his two friends. Boys. He is coming back half way through it as well, me knowing he will have been drinking most of the previous twenty four hours too? He said he will time it so that he isn’t drunk….. Time it? Oh goodness.

So, round two? My husband came in from work in a bit of a state. I’m sure it’s part of what could have been last night. Coming from work his taxi had to slam the brakes on. In front of their car, was another and the bang was enormous. A motorbike crashed into the side of the passenger and every window in the car was smashed. The taxi driver got out the passenger in the crashed car wasn’t in a good way at all. The driving wheel was in half and the motorbike was in a nearby field.

Helicopter ambulance police cars too, all came to the scene. Hubs taxi driver had to give evidence. The bike was coming over the hill I would guess at speed. I hope so much that all will be OK? I do feel that our angels are with us this week and for that I will say a forever prayer especially as a lovely lady I know lost her Son as he was driving on a motorbike to work. He was killed. Ever since I heard about it, I have felt so very sad so desperately upset for anyone who loses a loved one in such a way.

In most cases it can be avoided. Please please, don’t think it could never be you and don’t believe it’s always your fault either. It could be another driver not driving well.

OUR THREE BLESSINGS

It’s four in the afternoon. Just sat down for the first time today with a cup of coffee. Our girls arrived on Sunday to our delight. We had a lovely relaxing day in the garden then when teen came in from work, we all went off for a meal. Our youngest girl is so skinny. There is more fat on a chip, than there is on her. But oh my word. Can she eat? She is the size of my leg. Just the one, and she eats ten times more food than I ever have.  An unhealthy amount, but on Sunday evening, I think we almost finished her off. All they had since they came that early afternoon was a sandwich and at tea time, we had some fizz and fresh fruit. Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Lovely. Then it was time to order our evening meal.

Well the little one had a starter and then, a half yep, a full half if that makes sense, no, it doesn’t so scrap that bit of literature. Jog on…. You know what I mean, a half of a chicken. Enough to feed a family of at least two. Then, a rack of ribs. Gross double gross to me a vegetarian, but she loved it.

Though afterwards, she did say she felt rather ill that was after pinching food from her big sister too.

A lovely meal and a walk back home.

The night was closing early as summer has forgotten to arrive here, so it’s more like late autumn, though during the day was lovely, but on the way home? Freezing and dark.

We snuggled down and put on a horror film. Well, it was a rather odd film. All five of us watched it. A nice evening. But we had to end it with some comedy. So we laughed before bed. Always a good thing in my opinion, right?

Next morning it was time sadly for the little one to go. She is singing in the cathedral in Durham. So we all went in teens car and took her to the station. Then teen kindly dropped us off, as he went back home. Hub and I took our daughter to a wonderful antique shop in our town. Oh that was brilliant. I loved it. Everything from amazing clocks to material clothes and china. Then there was the jewellery. We bought our daughter a beautiful ring. She has tiny fingers so we hoped an antique ring would be smaller, but a lot of them were rather big. But we found one with three opals. It’s beautiful.

There was Hub with his rucksack, and me with my white cane. Not once did the proprietors complain or make us feel unwelcome.

Oh the hand bags were really different. But there was a large wheel you use for weaving. It was so beautiful. I wanted it as a quirky floor standing ornament.

But it was over £150 so I just walked away.

The shop is so well thought of and incredible the way in which it’s all set out. There are a few floors to the place and each floor is different rooms.

Our girl also got an antique dress. Thick lace. She is into all that kind of dressing.

She was happy so that made us happy. Then off to a well-deserved coffee shop. It was owned by Australians. The furniture inside was all made from crates. Wooden crates. The smell of coffee was so welcoming. The lovely homely lady read out the different kinds of homemade cakes and we sat with our delights.

Then to the bus and home. I cooked dinner. A steak casserole whilst Hub and our daughter got ready to go back out to the cathedral to a concert. On their return, the pot in the oven smelt rather nice and I’m pleased to say, all family were happy with it.

Today we did a few jobs in town; it was wet and so cold. Dirty rain. We got soaked. Home now, a little work and I have made dinner whilst Hub had to work today so he has been gone all day, but teen has gone out with our eldest now, back to town.

I’m pleased to say the little one is happy where she is. She is so brave. Only just sixteen but on the train, taxi and went to the cathedral to meet with people she didn’t know to work for a week of singing. Our eldest daughter will go there tomorrow and she will have three days of the same.

All of our three children are so full of confidence we feel this is a great thing. We know of blind parents whose children have never gone anywhere on their own and they are twenty plus. But our three are able to travel with knowledge and though I’m always with heart in mouth, I’m also proud. Between both of us, Hub and I and my Hubs ex, we have three polite independent children. Still normal teens though who do all the wrong things as well. But if they remember what we as boring parents taught them, I hope they will be successful in making their lives happy but more importantly, safe.

I’m off now to do some work in the office and then time for everyone to come home for dinner.

Our fire is on as it’s really cold and damp out there. But a cosy evening in front of the TV, or like last night, in our conservatory listening to music. I hope your week has been one of peace. For those who have had a really sad or devastating start to your week? I pray for calm in your heart and for your soul to repair with a blessing. X

DIARY OF AGE

Good evening Bloggets. Late today been working in the office all day. Got a lot done pleased by that as love to be productive when it comes to office work. House work? Em. Not quite the same appeal. Though have been playing dodge the rain drops as I went from my washing machine in the kitchen to the gym/utility room. Okay, garage. Really, the weather is like a late October. It’s dull. And so wet. It’s never stopped raining. Cool too.

So today, well, apart from writing poems, case studies and hopefully what will be press releases, I had my shopping delivered. Oh my Lordi Lord. The guy who brought my shopping? He needed a bib. That is what goes around a baby’s neck when they are eating or dribbling. I could have been sick. And he is dealing with my food!

He kept saying. “Oh, or, what do we have here?”  I thought mind your own cotton picking business?

Then he told me I was marvellous and I did more than most sighted people he knows. Well, really? How does he know this? I never ask them in the house. I take the food from him in bags at the front door. So, what do I do and how does he know this? Then he asked me

“I hope you don’t mind me asking you this?” I thought, here we go again, is it “You don’t look blind?

Really? How should I look?

 Are you properly blind?

No, just pretend blind

Well, he shocked me not asking any of those questions, but asking who the car belonged to.

Oh how badly I wanted to tell him it was mine and I would be going out in it soon, but he was too, em. How can I put this? If I had told him it was mine, I would have been there all day trying to tell him I was joking. So I just said it was my Sons. Oh, imagine if I had told him it belonged to my lover? Hehehhehahaha

But he kept slurping his saliva oh it was grim.

And all of that was when I got him to get out of his van. I thought he had someone with him. As he was having a right conversation whilst I was stood at the door waiting to receive my groceries. Chatter chatter chu chu.

No, no one with him. Just him. What is it this week with funny little men? What with the plastic duck man the other day and today slurpy Steve.

Oh that reminds me, I am going to look at my email and see what his name was, or still is…. Wouldn’t it be funny if it was Steve?

OK a very short blog as so much to do before our girls get here on Sunday and tomorrow we have a full day out. No sleep at all last night as boy wonder was out celebrating exam results with his friends. He left the house at quarter to eleven. In the evening. We were furious. Hub has told him not through the week when he has to get up for work at half six, but no notice was taken. No respect. So he came home at five this morning. Well I can’t sleep until he is home. So asthma was bad and an awful evening.

Tomorrow not sure if he is working but we are out. Can’t rely on him to take us to where we need to go sadly, so we have to get a taxi, £11 then a train and we haven’t booked assistance so this will be awful. As we hoped boy wonder would take us. We are off to visit Hubs Dad. By car fifty five minutes by taxi train and my brother in law has kindly offered to pick us up at the train station, it will take one hour and fifty minutes. Each way. Not to mention the stress of doing this.

But there we go. A list of jobs will be given to him, will he do them? Doubt it. But yesterday he was great, so once a week is what I expect now.

I’m off to make his dinner he has been at work most of the day. I have a feeling that this job is over its honeymoon period. Ten months though that is a long time and only one day sick and never late.

Roll on the next stage. How old are they before we stop worrying about them?

Who said fifty two?

Our girl got her A, level exams and did really well. She received an A star, two A’s a B and a C. It’s her eighteenth birthday soon too. So two kids eighteen. What an age, but at least both of them have received excellent exam results. Teen one A, and two B’s. Just the little one now next year she starts herA, levels. She will be fine, she is a clever cookie. I am proud to say with my step daughters and my Son, between three blind parents, we have achieved three bright children. They have done us proud. Even though this is a selfish age we are going through.

So with going on our travels tomorrow, Sunday our three kids getting together again for some time I will be busy and come back with I hope a happy blog, especially because Monday will be rather special. Later gators. X

CHOCOLATE IN THE AIR BY FIONA CUMMINGS

CHOCOLATE IN THE AIR

BY Fiona Cummings

For a while it remained a mystery

Whatever could that delightful smell be

I found out it came from the nearby factory

Which made chocolate dreams come true

To all children like me and you

I imagined little elves worked in there

And one naughty one in particular

Opened the window

Allowing the aroma to  escape in the air

He was the mischievous naughty Norman

Who has the job title of Forman

The other elves don’t get on with him

 Too well

 Especially whom they call Noddy

 With the biggest silver bell

When it is break time Noddy shakes his hat

His bell rings so hard it wakes the factory cat

Who sleeps in an outside shed

And has a fresh daily  dish of chocolate milk

And the most comfortable cosy bed

A log table with a cloth of silk

Is ready so  the elves can be fed

With little toadstools to sit on

And be given dishes by the cook Alvin

Caramel cups

And strawberry spoons

Chocolate fountains

And bubble gum balloons

Every day there is a birthday party

Because there are so many elves at the factory

Each one having their celebration

Sounds of laughter and jubilation

Leaking from the walls

Everyone wants to visit there

But we are told not at all

As it is a secret haven

A chocolate heaven

When I open my back door

The smell in the air I adore

THE DIARY OF TRUST

So my blog for today. Trust. Whoever thought of such a word and why? It means reliance on the integrity strength and ability on a person, animal/creature or an object. Belief that someone something is reliable, good, honest, effective etc.

A legal agreement such as a property or someone’s money to be held for someone by an organisation, person such as a bank for a set time.

Trust as a parent, is something to me which meant the world when I was bringing up my child. Well, until the day he learned that there was no such thing as Father Christmas or the tooth fairy. Then it kind of went wrong. But trust is something this day an age where by I am on a daily bases worried about my Son. Where he is what he is doing. Now then, today? My Son made me so proud. I was one happy Mum the other day when he stopped his car as he saw an elderly person slump back in his car seat. Car parked badly half up the path half on a dangerous road. He tapped on the window thinking that the man was ill in some way. Turned out that the guy was just wresting. Hopefully he, my Son alerted the man enough to make him re park his car? Teen says he was about ninety. I was so proud of him; most kids would drive by thinking nothing. He stopped and made sure the man was alright. Today? Another matter to make me proud. We were out at the shop, a rarity for my Son, to shop with me; he picked up an IPhone 6. He said he found it needed to hand it in. As he was telling the lady on the till, she pointed to a man in his fifties who had already reported it as missing. Teen handed over the phone to a relieved man. He could have kept it. Sold it. But he did the right thing, especially as he is very short of money right now. One proud mum.

Trust is a funny thing. We have it until that trust is broken. I used to trust everyone I really did. Now? I trust no one. It’s sad really but at least I don’t get hurt.

When I can’t be trusted by a friend, it breaks my heart. It actually hurts me to the core. I feel such a let-down. I can’t deal with life. But still what right do I have if I don’t trust them?

T, for total. R, reliable. U, understanding. S, serious. And T, for the word itself trustworthy.

DUCK OFF

Good day Bloggets. Okay, so today should be of interest to me. More on that in a later blog, firstly today, I will let you know about my walk with my guide dogs and my friend Arty.

Yesterday was tough here, and I so badly needed to get out of the house. Thankfully Arty came with her ray of sunshine known as her personality. Oh, and her delicious cake….. Out we went freedom. And onto our local field. Well, LC dragged Arty and though she kept getting her to sit. That’s Arty, getting LC to sit, not the other way on…. Though at one point I thought Arty was going to ride Longchops as they took off. When it comes to working, Hubs LC is the best in the business. When it comes to playing? Let’s say our big beasty girl has no finesse.

Even little Waggs was naughty and she is normally great quiet on harness. She cried like a baby. Oh it was embarrassing. I said as I was also being tugged a little with my girl on harness. You know, representing Guide Dogs and all…. “What must we look like?

Well we got there at last and it was so funny. Next thing we know Arty turned to me and said

“LC has found a toy, but there are no dogs on the field so it’s OK. I asked what it was. She said something orange. So with jet black fur and bright orange toy from her long chops, hahhahaha. Are you picturing this?

Well, among the silence only interrupted by distant lawn moors and other garden equipment. A quietly spoken man’s voice crept behind us. And said in a rather sheepishly voice.

“Could I please have my dog toy back?”

So red faced Fi cringed as Arty boldly replied asking.

“Oh sorry, is it yours?” A perfect question, as we saw no dogs. He answered.

“No. its’ my dogs……

Well, if you had seen mine and Art’s face? Oh we wanted to laugh our socks off. Especially because he didn’t have a dog? No sign of a dog and Arty could have said sorry and retrieved the toy from the chops of the long one, but no…. What did she say? Just as I was trying to hold my face together?

“Sorry about the slobber all over it, if you hold that bit, you will be OK?

Hahahahahahehhehehehehehehahahaha.

Well, he took the toy, and off he went. Arty and I walked away as fast as we could to get out of the range of the funny little man who was wearing shorts and (GARDENING GLOVES) in the middle of the field with no dog.

Arty reckoned that he had a dog toy fetish. Hehehe it was an orange duck. LC wasn’t amused.

We were.

Well, we met another lady with two tiny dogs she had the sense of humour of a nat.

Another lady with her dog who was lovely, and such a character. The stories she told were brilliant. Some sad but most funny. Such a sweet lady she was. Her little boy dog tried to milk LC. And LC stood letting her. Not sure what that was all about? Especially as the dog was about two so long time since needing milk?

We came back via the shop as I needed milk and bread. Arty went in and I stood with the two shattered girls. Arty went in as she has sight and it would be so much faster rather than me going in, waiting for assistance and so on.

Well, that was the theory. Until Arty came out later much later and said she couldn’t find the bread. Haha. She went around the shop twice and then had to ask.

Bless her, we got home, gave the girls a drink and sat with tea and the best cake in the world. Oh yummy blooming yummy. Arty gave me a gift I will treasure for life. It was from an angel shop in America from her holidays. A pebble with carved words “Forever friends” and I know we will be.

NO CONTROL

Good morning Bloggets. Well, my blood pressure is as high as it could be. Teen troubles. Can’t say why what where or who, but let’s say the atmosphere in the Fifi Blogget household is tense today.

I can’t even get Wagga in from the garden. She is really becoming naughty when it comes to getting her in the house. I lost my patients and came in. Good old Longchops is in like a good girl. Teen in the kitchen. I’m staying out of there you know the saying? “If you can’t stand the heat keep out of the kitchen?

I’m out of there.

Plans have been changed with Arty. We were meant to see each other yesterday, she asked for the afternoon rather than morning and last night a call to ask for today instead. Well, bless her, she is waiting for a parcel, as am I so I really hope it will come before she gets here equally I hope hers will arrive too. In this day in age it would be great if we got a text on our phones to say when it was coming as in time? I know some do this but not many.

I so badly want my parcel to come as need to get out of this house somewhere other than the local shop, even if it is just our local field. Its fresh air and away from dot dot dot.

This is when I so need to have sight. To put the dogs in the car. Drive to the beach and breathe. No, I’m not able to do that sadly, oh I dream. Well, seriously I dream. The other night I had a recurring nightmare. I’m in one of those self-drive cars and I’m sitting there I can see as much as I used to be able to. Most of my dreams I’m still partially sighted. So I’m in the oddly enough passenger seat. The driver seat is empty. But the car is going along. At speed. It slows down in the right places. “Hang on a cotton picking minute? How do you know where I want to go? I have no control.” It’s so scary. I have this dream a lot. No control. Hmm. I can see the meaning of that dream right now.

Oh to be a parent these days really, there are no rewards. One day of love and twenty seven days of worry, stress and hell.

They are a real selfish breed not kidding. How old before they once again are our lovely children every day? OK not every day that would be expecting too much, but at least to show respect? That’s all I ask.

Yesterday, long story short. We can’t really afford to go out for a meal and we as in Hub and I have not been out as a couple for absolutely months. But last night? I had to do it. Well we only know our local Chinese to walk there, we went and it was awful. The food wasn’t at all nice. Our lovely Lewis wasn’t there he is on holiday but Alice was, she is from Romania and is the sweetest girl ever. So cute. Oh, but you should see her boyfriend? Wow….. Em. I only hope on dark nights leaving the premises he stays in the restaurant kitchen.

Scary boy. And according to my mad and loving aunt, he is older than her by years and not at all attractive, an yet people say she is so pretty.

OK Waggs just came in looking rather sorry for herself. Also very hot from the sun. But she is licking her lips. What on earth has she been eating?

Right, off to do some house work and enter the kitchen, hoping I can resolve things with boy wonder; this may end up in tears, and not his. But I need a cup of tea.

Laters. X

FAIRY EXTREME BY FIONA CUMMINGS

FAIRY EXTREME

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

The red and white spotted mushroom

Deep in the forest surrounded by bloom

Little did anyone know

Just the little rabbit colour of snow

He visited each day

He loved to play

With the little pixies who lived below

One called silver

And the other Yoyo

Silver wore sparkly boots

 And carried bricks

He pretended he was a builder

And Yoyo did tricks

With minuscule juggling balls

You would hear his calls

For forest friends to come and see

Just how magical Yoyo could be

He would say “Look up?

And there would be a giant buttercup

In the centre of the flower

Would be a bumble bee

With wings full of power

Flapping making pots of honey

Yoyo was so funny

He would rub his teeny tummy

And burp like a squeaky mouse

But always said pardon

Silver would build a house

With a colourful garden

Using wood chips he called bricks

Paint a purple door

And an orange floor

Green windows

With a picket fence

And make a little seat like a garden bench

From twigs make a rod

And Yoyo would put fish in a pond

That really was a puddle

Then pixie Fifi

Who loved to cuddle?

Barnaby the snow white bunny

Then there was Elfie

He was always filthy

Rolling in the forest mud

Always up to no good

Such fun could be had

Near the secret mushroom

Always good never bad

But first signs of humans

It was time to hide

Trampled on with humungous boots

And bikes children would ride

Grant would trot along

But life still did carry on

When it was dusk

Play time was a must

The little pixie family

Came out from the spotted toadstool

Once again Yoyo could play the fool

Silver was the builder

And how could we forget Elfie

With mud on his nose

And dirty little clothes

Cheekily in front of the camera

Striking a pose

But who takes the picture?

Bugul /Noz, a sly creature

He yearns for human companionship

So he will run to people with his photos in hand

And tell tales of this secret land

So why’s Barnaby the only creature to come along?

Is it because he is an Ellyllon

A diaphanous fairy in animal form

We have to protect fairyAsrai

Who would blow away in a storm

Bedtime now tiny elves do yawn

Though the sky is awake by the dawn

Next time you are walking along

In forests so green

Watched out for signs

Perhaps the fairy queen?

But don’t tell a single person

Let this be a lesson

I guess a blessing?

For this mystical place

Must hide all trace

For it to continue

For hush a bye dreams

By rippling streams

And puddle like ponds

We grow so fond

Close your eyes

You may be surprised

What you will see

Your very own pixie

From a world of extreme
