PART 1 2 AND 3 FOR YOU ALL AND MAGDA AND MARTA'S GRAN

Good morning Bloggets. My word. What a past few days we have had? Now back to reality. I have a day to prepare our house for our friend coming tomorrow. Tonight I am going to the theatre, so must write this as quick as I can.

It was exciting, amazing, so deeply sad and beautiful, all in one big dish of life.

Our eyes have been opened and our hearts are warmer.

One day I would love to write a story about one of the people I met this week.

If my dream ever comes true, and I can publish books, with the permission of my dear friend, I would love to write her life story.

My Husband has been touched by this amazing person.

We do for sure have angels on this earth, real living angels among us.

So our journey began two days ago. Seams like forever now as we have packed so much in!

Our painter was just cleaning up ready to leave. He has done a great job on our boy’s room. Teen is delighted with it.

So we left our Son with furniture everywhere

And of course. Black Beauty and Waggatail.

Got in the taxi, almost killed myself on our steep doorstep.

With all the rain, all of the concrete has left our doorstep and gone elsewhere. Hahaha.

Anyway, leaving us with a totally broken step.

What else can go wrong with this house? Hub calls it the house that Jack built….

But with our neighbours, we will put up with it for as long as possible

More on our neighbours later.

So in the taxi and off for our break. Oh as soon as I am in the taxi driving away from the house, I feel the stress lifting from me like a hot blanket slowly lifting, leaving a layer at a time. As the minutes go by in the car, the layers become less and less. Leaving me with new skin. Oh I can’t tell you how wonderful it is?

I wish I could put in better words how this feels.

But I feel as though I have been lifted up on a high cloud

So out of the taxi and streight onto a train

It took two and a half hours to get there. The staffs at Edinburgh train station were amazing. A lady called Jacquie was so professional and friendly too. If only they knew how much us blind people respect and appreciate all what they do? Whereas flying? Oh it’s awful.

In the taxi to our hotel. I felt warm and safe once we got there and we stayed at the same room as Hub and I stayed in a couple of weeks ago when he was there on business.

Oh that was so funny. The reception had a lot of voices talking business. As Hub and I reassured the receptionist that we would be OK getting to our room, as our dog would remember hahaha. She was not sure about our enthusiasm of how we were going to get to the room.

She asked us if we were sure and she would show us the way? We said, no, don’t worry. Well, by this point, the reception was silent. Obviously, thinking we were the super blind

 Well, we tried to be.

Our dog Long Chops would not work, we went in on the door on the right, and didn’t know it but came out of a door on the left. Straight back into reception. Hahahhaehehheehehe

Egg on face moment

So we were shown to our room. It was wonderful nothing had changed in there. Even down to the bin in the bathroom, same place exactly.

I love the fireplace in there

The thick gilded picture above it too. I thought it may be a mirror but Hub said he thought it was a picture because it was too high to be a mirror.

You would have to be a giraffe to look through it.

Well, little did we know what was to follow?

Part two

Our friend Debbie phoned and said it was late in the day, but she would love to come and see us in the hotel. Great, wow? How brave too as she also is blind and had a long journey to visit us. Hub went out to walk LC and on his way back, he brought Debbie who had met with him in reception. Hub heard her getting out of the taxi so that is how he recognised her.

As she had her dog with her so a bit of a clue when he heard the instructions being given.

We ordered a bottle of wine and that was rather nice. We talked and talked. Now then, her dog I’m sure wanted to talk to LC, and I know LC wanted to play with Cherry, but they were on their best behaviour in the hotel.  If only they were on a field together, they would love it.

Oh Cherry the guide dog of my friend was so lovely. A Yellow retriever.

Debbie has just received her degree. She is Master of Science, I’m sure that is her title.

Wow, she is clever; she has studied psychology and criminology too.

Such a brain. She is desperate to find work, but like a lot of blind people, is struggling.

She is positive though and has a bright future.

We had a lovely afternoon. We laughed for sure and Hub is great, he gets on with my friends and talks the talk. My friend and I said goodbye and I thought to myself how brave she was to do such a journey by train herself. I know people do this, but she was not too confident a couple of years ago, but now thanks to her guide dog and determination, she gets everywhere.

It was really kind of her to travel an hour to see us.

Then off for the meal. It’s not cheap to eat in a hotel, but if you can’t see, to trapes around the streets, is a bit of a nightmare.

We took LC and off we went to hunt for the dining room

Guess what? She found it. She remembered it.

I had vegetable soup and it was amazing, then stuffed beef tomato with baby baked potatoes and vegetables. My tomato was stuffed with tiny green beans, peppers and herbs with a cheese on top all melted in. For dessert, I had my fave, the cheese board.

Hub had some kind of fish for starters, and for main course, another kind of fish, with a pastry filled with a sauce and vegetables with mash and for dessert berries cream and ice cream

Coffee to end the meal with.

And LC, found the front of the hotel and we went for a walk so she could pollute the streets of Scotland.

Back to the hotel, I must say, the road we crossed was a little scary, as it was one of those roads which are really wide. You cross as nothing is coming and half way across, there is a car coming at speed. Your there thinking, oh my God. Where is the path?  It went on forever.

Up the kerb and back to the hotel.

I ran a bath now this is funny as it’s one of those baths with the glass cubicles in the room, God knows if our curtains were closed properly, and we were on the ground floor and I also put lights on in our room. Now why? Again, God knows and he’s not saying.

So lights on dark outside and a gap in the curtains with a Fifi in the bath. Lovely… Not…

Oh the toiletries are lovely at that hotel too. They smell of peppermint and the other thing is lavender.

Now I say other thing, as I have not got a clue if I am washing myself in shampoo, conditioner or shower gel.

All bottles look the same.

The funny thing was, Hub found a box on the bed when we arrived. He handed it to me saying it was a couple of mouth fresheners you sprayed in your mouth? Hmm. Thank Goodness, I checked it out? It was a good job I didn’t spray it in my mouth as one was a pillow spray and the other was a roll on for your pulses. I presume that was what they were anyway, as they smelled of lavender, so if I had sprayed this in my mouth, my tongue would be tired. Haha.

The bath was huge. Really long.

Oh there is something so tranquil about a nice hotel.

After my bath, I made sure my boy was OK, Hmm, he was more than OK, he was out….

Never the less, he did call me back when he got in with his friend.

God knows what time he went to bed?

I had the best night’s sleep in the world.

The bed was enormous.

I love the hotel as you never hear anyone passing. It has loads of doors, so whether or not this is why it’s quiet, I don’t know.

A peaceful perfect night on a plump pillow and a safe feeling of love.

Now the next morning we had to wake up at half seven. We were to have breakfast and go to meet with our friend I have never met before.

We have been talking on Facebook for about eight months. But I have not met her until Thursday.

I have written about her before. She is originally from Poland but now is a Brit. She is the most amazing person and I have had months to learn about her, but Hub hasn’t and I tell you, he was left with a hand print on life. A lesson for sure.

I have said it before; I would love to write her life story. She is a movie in the making.

But until that day, I had not met her so I had excitement but also hoped we would get on as well in real life as we did on Facebook?

She can see perfectly fine, so I didn’t need to worry about her meeting with us.

Before we would meet, I had breakfast and had to catch a train. We had a forty minute journey to make.

I must say the trains in Scotland, are fantastic. The staff really are great and they seem as easy to use too as you never wait for assistance.

Debbie told us if you are blind and live in Scotland, you receive free rail travel. In Scotland only though. This is brilliant.

If they get their independence though, not sure they will still do that as I’m sure it is the English who pay for it, I know Scottish people receive free prescriptions too if you are over an age, I think that is right, and we pay for it. This is what I don’t understand why Scottish people would want to become independent from England, as I’m sure those perks won’t be able to stay in place?

But how good is that, I mean, we as blind people can’t get in a car so they make it so Scottish people can travel free of charge. Amazing.

I was texting my friend Magda all the way and we were both getting more and more excited.

What would she look like to us? She was cheating as she can see our photographs on our Facebook pages, but I didn’t know what she looked like obviously, but when I saw her in real life, I would find out in a blind persons way.

Haha.

Now what way is that?

Part 3

As the announcement told us, we were one stop from the station. Magda was texting and I knew she was at the station

The little train pulled into the town where my friend lived near and would be waiting for the two people she had been chatting to online but had not ever met. I had butterflies in my stomach. I was really excited to meet with the girl. Hub marched off with LC with me following behind like a shadow on a sunny path.

Down two steps and I heard the little friendly voice. She was there, such a sweet person, I felt like I did when I first met with my dearest friend Olga so many years ago. You know, she took my arm and off we went to find a taxi to go to the restaurant. We never stopped talking all the way. It was as though we had been friends forever. She was my little baby Sister. It was like wearing a comfortable pair of slippers, not saying Magda is like a pair of slippers,  haha.

She is a cute little doll.

Oh my God Bloggets, she was amazing, I mean she has not ever been with blind people before, but she just knew to be normal. You know what I mean? We were normal, she was normal, she is an absolute natural. Some people just freeze when it comes to guiding blind people when we just need an arm to link or voice to follow. I loved the feeling I had with her and if we lived closer, we would be great shopping buddies, haha. If she ever comes here, I will introduce her to my friend Di, and the three of us will have a great time.

In and out of the taxi and that is when the fun started.

It was raining; we entered the porch of the restaurant. I was told on the phone, if we came early, we would be able to sit and have a coffee or drink of something. Well, the doors were locked. There we were the three of us plus LC, stuck in this tiny porch and I said, well, this is cosy. Hahaha

The funny thing was, the staff were looking at us, we were looking at the staff and we still stood there, no one came to let us in. we did laugh.

Well, I decided to phone them. It was so funny we could hear the phone ringing.

A lady answered and came to let us in. Well, did she think we were just sheltering from the rain?

The restaurant was really big and we were taking to a booth

Oh

My

God

Em. How can I put this?

Let’s just say, when they were building/designing the booths, they didn’t make them for large Mafia men as when I got in, you needed to get a tin opener to get me out. Magda and Hub thought this was really funny as they had plenty of room between their slender frames and the table. Haha. Shall I tell you, there was no reason to put a napkin on my knee, as nothing was getting between my mouth and my knee. I told Magda that if I went blue, to tell Hub, so he could do his first aid on me.

Bless her; she gave me my birthday present. Wow.

I received the most beautiful bracelet which I will treasure forever as she made it herself. She makes jewels.

Its blue shells. I love it so much.

She knows I love Elephants, and bought me a beautiful scarf with them on in blue. The gifts kept coming; they were from her and her sister Marta. I got some lovely Polish chocolates and a box with lovely cosmetics in. Now, then, after receiving something she made, something she knows I love, something to say where she originates from and a girly gift which smells so lovely, she handed me a birthday card. Can you believe this?

She found a company who made tactile and Braille cards.

What 21 year old would even bother to do such a kind thing?

My friend Gabriel was so caring making me tactile pictures and now Magda’s kindness? I am so overwhelmed by such wonderful souls.

Oh the meal was delicious. Magda’s Mum picked it and what a lovely place it was. The food was stunning.

We talked and talked. It was so very natural.

Two wonderful days with my new friends.

Hub listened to stories about Magda over lunch and he came away touched to the heart and soul.

He says he has never met such an amazing person and to be so young too?

We came to the station after the meal and said sad goodbyes but I know I will be seeing Magda for sure again. She invited us next time; we will meet with Magda’s family and eat Polish dumplings. How great will that be? Just like the old days when I used to visit the Russian Dacha’s. We would eat homemade jams, nuts and drink tea.

I love the family thing. I am so comfortable with that lifestyle. I am not really into loud brash parties, I just love cosy feelings and close families which we struggle to have in the west.

I would love to have waved bye bye to Magda, but the glass window next to our seat on the train, was just a polished partition, with no light or picture.

Just like the picture/mirror in the  hotel room. What was it?  A mirror or a picture. It’s glass, its sand and water.

But in my mind, I saw a little girl, with a sad soul, an older than her years memory mind and heart, with a painful past, a tough existence and a prosperous future, though with commitments beyond her youthful years.

I know one thing; I will be there for her for all of my life, as she has found her way in my heart for sure. A true friend, who never asks for anything material. Who never expects anything from anyone? Who is so positive, clever and committed? She has a hard life, she really does. She cares for her three siblings with disabilities. Her step Father also has a disability and her poor Mum some days cannot get out of bed. Magda, cooks, cleans irons, helps her brother with his homework, and takes him to a group which she helps to run for autistic children, takes her brother’s to swimming lessons as well as has a part time job and attends college.

She translates for her Mum, fills all forms in for the family for schools ect and does a whole host of other things which I won’t go into but what an amazing person. So selfless. So real, an yet so from another world. A world far from here. A place where kindness is their first language.

Hub and I sat on the train, num. Sad to have only a short time with our friends, but numb with disbelief.

The train journey was like the ghost of Christmas past. Our lives passed by us. The weeks we have had of late where things have gone rather bad for us, where answers we were not getting and stress was building up. Just went past as though to say, you know what?

Look at your lives. Brush yourselves down and hold your head up high. You have visited another land from the world you are used to. Your life is alive and your past visited you and your future is open. It was a journey we were meant to have made.

And you know what? As we made that journey of three and a half hours, we received a call from my friend Di, who said she was waiting for us at the train station to bring us home.

My God. What kindness. I really feel honoured, blessed and so very humble.

As soon as I got home, I contacted my other poor friend whose fiancé had died that day.

For Debbie, Elisha, Magda and Marta. To my Husband who gave me the best gift for my birthday, the complete journey. X

FUNNY RUBBISH

It’s so cold tonight. I just would love a hot water bottle, a thick soft blanket and a cup of tea. All toasty in bed.  But I have work to do. I always have work to do before bed. This is why I am not tired

I do not know how much rubbish we go through as a little family. Our bin is overflowing and we have another couple of days to go before bin day.

As for the recycle bins, well, that was to go out one day, it did go out, but we forgot to take it to the end of the drive, so we left it near the top of the drive, the drive is about eighteen foot long, so six meters long, the bin men can see them, it’s on their list to bring the bins back to the top of the drive, so wouldn’t you think they would say, oh we will just go and get them? Oh they were so full too. Our recycling bins are so dreadful. One for paper, one for plastic and one for glass. Small boxes. Our last house was great; it was one huge wheelie bin for all recycling, well, all but glass.

The ones we have here, the lids blow off, they are so small when they are empty, and they blow down the paths. Crazy.

I said to Hub a great idea I thought. Kind of like a large chest of drawers. Three in total. The height of our wheelie bins you pull each drawer out. Paper, glass and plastic.. Because they are like drawers, they don’t blow away, and it looks tidy.

Well, we have no step into the house still. It’s a huge step. About three foot.

Now, we have a very important lady coming to the house tomorrow in her suit. Haha. High heels for sure can you imagine? How embarrassing?

The workman said to us today, how would we get out of the house if there was a fire? I told him I would have to climb on Hubs back.

Oh he did laugh?

In fact, he laughed so hard, I thought I was going to have to pat his back. It was as if he was choking.

Oh a horrible thing happened today. A car went by and then all we heard was the horn of their car.

The horn went on and on and on. Just one long horn sound.

I said to Hub it could be someone having a heart attack. I felt so sick as not long after then, an ambulance came by and stopped just where the horn was sounding off.

Oh I imagined all sorts. Mainly thinking of the family.

I made some soup today. It must be the easiest soup ever and so much cheating went on.

I chopped some potatoes and carrots. Put them in a little bit of water with a stock cube and some celery salt. Then in went chopped onions, peppers and lots of garlic.

I then added two cans of tomatoes and then baked beans with chilli sauce. Oh, and some herbs too. It is OK, not the best, but very taste tingling. So much back kick to it. Hub loves it.

They had chicken too. Oh awful, I had to slice the poor chicken. Just after I thought my canary, Irish you know, had died yesterday, then today slicing a bird. Yack Yack and double yack.

I’m glad I’m a vegetarian.

OK, going to have some olives and then sort out life here before peepies. Haha.

Oh a funny story before I go. My boy sent for some deodorants yesterday online. I thought they were a bit quick when a parcel came today?

Anyway when he came in from college he was pleased to see his parcel. I said, they came quickly?  And they are huge? He said he knows, they are a great size. I asked what kind they were. He answered Scotch Gard

I said,

Oh my God? Don’t put that on your skin?

He said

“Sorry Mum? What do you mean?

I said that is for carpets Son.

Oh I felt so sorry for him thinking he has wasted his money.

He laughed and told me they weren’t deodorants, they were coming later; the cans were for his suede boots.

Haha. Few?

Hub said

Heck, how many pairs of boots do you have?

Anyway, the cans are to protect his boots/shoes from wet weather.

Scotch Gard also is for carpets.

Reminded me of my dear Dad when we stayed in a caravan with my Mum and X.

Dad was in the bathroom and came out all in a fluster.

I could see then. I looked at him and laughed.

Dad, what on earth is that on your hair?

He answered all in white foam.

“Oh I was trying to stop my hair from curling up so thought it was hair spray. Hahahahaha

OK, the hint would or should have been the white foam coming from it, to say it was my exes shaving foam.

He looked so funny.

Almost as funny as when my friend came from Russia for the first time she left the former Soviet Union and she knew nothing western.

Well, we went to the ladies toilet when we were in the shopping centre.

We came out of the loo. Washed our hands in the sinks and tried to dry our hands in the  hot air machine. When no air came from the machine, I told my friend that they must be paper towels and to pull from underneath.

She did.

I said pull the leaver?

She did

It made one heck of a noise. Well, my friend didn’t stop there; she banged the machine, causing a massive noise. I was standing there not seeing enough in those days to read what was written

Tampons….

Hahahahahaha

Oh when we realised what we had done, we looked around with red faces to see three women looking at us. In disbelief.

Needless to say, we vacated the wash rooms with wet hands…

OK, silly me must dash and I will be back in the morning to have a chat. Xxxxx

MY DOG BY FIONA CUMMINGS

MY DOG

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

My dog is my best friend

With her no need to pretend

She will be with me until the end

She loves me unconditionally

She’s part of our family

She’s my baby girl and I’m her Mummy

She knows what’s funny

And how to be silly

There is nothing she likes more than to make me laugh

Oh and when I put her in the bath

She freezes as though I am torturing her

And Gosh the fir

You could make carpets

But how dull life would be without our pets

Getting my dog I have no regrets

When I’m sad

She comforts me

When I need guiding she sees for me

She’s always there

So much care

Always willing to share

So selfless

Relieves all stress

Just to stroke her little head

All she needs is love and to be fed

A toy and a comfy bed

You come in from a day out the house is calm

No one needs to shout

But right there in front of you

Is your dog saying I love you?

Those big brown eyes

Staring up at me

Pouring out Absolut love

And little things I do for her

She is full of surprise

With silky black fir

And paws so round

She’s my cute little hound

My best friend always

She stops the boredom throughout the days

She’s cute when she plays

And loving when she puts her paw in my hand

No matter what is wrong

She understands

I love my four legged friend

And I know she loves me

We will always be together

Now and forever

ONLY IN AMERICA

Good morning Bloggets. It’s damp, dark and dirty in Fifi Blogget land today.

The men are here fixing our step at last. Oh God. The house is shaking! I’m right at the back of the house and it’s flipping moving!

It’s one of those days when I am cold to the bone. I never knew what that meant until a couple of years ago.

Now for some good news, to my absolute delight, I awoke to my beautiful Canary, Irish you know?  Singing so strongly and sweetly this morning. My God, he is a tough little cookie?

I am so relieved. If we lived at the  other house, I tell you now I don’t know what we would have done as my friends work and my neighbours would not wee on us if we were on fire. Here, amazing. I feel so lucky and blessed. I am grateful to my Yam and DD, who helped us to move. Now we are here, to be able to call for help like that is amazing.

Oh hell, as I write, the men are in my back garden.

I thought I was out of sight hiding here, but nope?

Better not touch my Elephant? Haha.

Yes, I have them outside too.

God, I hate workmen you know? I find them so invasive and always something goes wrong.

Hub in the office working. Teen at college.

Dogs haring up my living room. Haha.

Me? Chatting to you. I can’t do anything really as the doorbell has already gone three times.

Still no currency for Hub to go to America on Wednesday. God knows, every time he goes away, he has this stress of last minute arrivals.

It’s funny when my Yam and Dd lived in the states, I used to get some comfort out of the knowledge that they were there. Now they have moved, it’s like sending Hub anywhere else in the world.

Even though in parts of the states, it’s as far to get to hub from where they used to live to travelling from the UK. Still odd though.

I read a study saying that scientists have discovered that dogs share a part of the brain the same as humans. The sensitive part. So they show sadness and empathy when you are sad. I could have told them that?

Two out of three of our dogs put their heads on my knee when I am sad or ill.

Whenever Hub is away with his LC, LC gives out so much love, as though to say,

“I’m here Daddy, don’t worry?

They are beautiful things, dogs. I love them. Well, I love my bird too. Yesterday I really felt the pain as he went slamming to the ground in his cage. Never again, he is on the windowsill safe and he is still singing, though the men are out there banging and walking around.

Oh my God, the noise? Hahaha. My poor neighbours.

Right going now to try to do work in the kitchen. Till later a smile first before you leave me.

Something I found on a joke. Com

Things to make you stop and think

1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an
ambulance.

2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.
3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to
the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people
can buy cigarettes at the front.
4. Only in America......do people order double cheeseburgers, large
fries, and a diet coke.
5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain
the pens to the counters.
6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in
the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.
7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and
then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't
want to talk to in the first place.
8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in
packages of eight.
9. Only in America......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the
process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning
'bloodsucking creatures'.
10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille
lettering.

DIARY SUNDAY NIGHT

Well, my canary, Irish you know? Seams to be OK, but if he is still alright tomorrow, then I will be happy.

He is flying around though my friend who is an animal lover and his wife who works with animals say it’s looking like he is going to be OK. I really really hope so. Thing is you know, he is tiny.

Like the runt of the litter.

The size of your thumb. But looks like a tough little birdie.

I really felt his pain, shock and it’s took me all day to calm down a little.

Oh he is now back on his favourite place. The window. Our windowsill is huge and he loves it on there. The stand is going in the bin

I have had to move all my blooming ornaments and that includes 37 elephants.

Haha.

Oh I miss my friend Julie already. She comes and goes so quickly.

I had a lovely email from my American Mum now living in Mexico today.

Teen came in, had no tea though it was half seven. Salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast though at his girlfriends, but no tea…

Well, I tried to contact him all day but for some reason, when he is with his girlfriend, his phone stops working…

So I didn’t make him anything.

So many times I have cooked for him and he hasn’t turned up then said he has eaten, so it’s just been a waste of time.

College tomorrow for him.

Did I tell you I have booked his first driving lesson?

For his birthday. On his birthday.

I asked his Father if he could for teen’s birthday give some money to go towards some lessons even if it is just £10 but he said he was paying for his train ticket for his birthday. £20 train ticket to see him.

Nice

So again, up to me and Hub.

Nothing changes.

OK, Hub off to America in two days. He still hasn’t got his money to go or papers he needs for meetings.

So he is slightly stressed now. They were sent out by special delivery on Thursday. But nothing came on Friday.

He leaves Wednesday morning.

Right, I shall go for now but will be back later. Xx

CRAZY CANARY BYE BYE?

Oh my word. Why is life not easy? My friend Julie came yesterday. It was really great to see her. She is so beautiful. I love her. We have been friends for ages, years, since my Son was about five. We had a Pizza for supper and some wine. We had a bottle and Julie brought one.

A great night of catch up. Breakfast more talking then after a couple of hours, out to lunch. We went to our Chinese.

I am sad to say again it was not so good as before, it has times when it’s like this. None of us were wild about the food.

Shame really.

Came back and sadly said bye-bye to Julie and off on her journey she went back to Northumberland.

The dogs went crazy and LC, picked up Waggatail, and next thing was the bird cage was on the floor. I screamed. Dogs ran like mad and Hub and I couldn’t find the bird. I ran upstairs and cried. My baby bird, I love him. He was dead.

Oh I felt so sick. Hub said he found the cage with the doors opened.

Where was the bird?

It took ages to find him. Floor full of seed.

It was awful. Our neighbours J and Mel, came and found our Canary

Oh my God, I felt so ill.

He was OK though. He is now in his cage he has sung a little bit. Oh God, I know he is a bird, but I love him. Also, if he is hurt? I mean, I don’t think we are out of the woods yet.

Not sure where teen is today. Can’t get hold of him to chat. He called before but the signal was poor so lost him. It’s wild with wind here. Drained after the half hour of Hub trying to find the bird without standing on him. He made no sound so really thought he was dead. Oh the mess too. Hub and I got two bits of news yesterday.

I will promise I will let you know when I can.

EYES OPENED IN SCOTLAND PART 3

Crushed

Excited

Dark

Happy

Worried

Overwhelmed

Compassionate

Honoured

Complete

For Debbie, Elisha, Magda and Marta. To my Husband who gave me the best gift for my birthday, the complete journey. X

Diary quicky

Hi Bloggets I am waiting for our friend to arrive now. We are having take away for tea and doing lunch tomorrow. It’s so much cheaper than going out for dinner. We could make something of course, but my friend is a vegetarian, and vegetarian food is not Hubs forte and he is the better cook. I’m not confident to make anything other than soup or chilli and perhaps I should make chilli, but our Son is not into that or anything unless it has lots of meat. Sad as he was a good vegetarian for 12 years.

My friend Di brought us some homemade cheese cake, bless her soul. She is a wonderful person.

I can’t believe my luck with our neighbours. Never have I had good neighbours other than when I was first married to the x.

Talking of the x, I asked him to help to pay for driving lessons today by text, as of course he won’t answer my calls. I doubt he will, but I can only try.

Its £42 per lesson and Teen will receive his first lesson on his birthday in nine days.

He is excited. This is the first time I have seen him happy in over a year.

So well worth the money.

OK, must dash thank you for all your comments on Scotland blogs, I will write part three tomorrow. Hugs. X

BRASSED OFF WITH THE HEAD MASTER

Hub and I went to see Brassed off tonight at our local theatre. The sky was wearing its dark blanket and the chill was in the air, not only of our day which wasn’t really a good one. A lot of stress. Back to normality. As we walked along the streets, shivering with the bitter night, I felt so cross with a post I read on Facebook. My friend who is lovely put in a group where I am a member, a note about our old head master. He is dying and has cancer. I do feel for his daughter as she was lovely, but as for him?

Well, he and his daughter want letters from people about how they remembered him?

There are some posts on the group about how great this man was. I would love to write what I felt about him but it would be deleted and if I were admin, I also would delete as what I would want to say would not be appropriate.

He was horrible, cruel and greedy. My Husbands Father was on the board of the school and the head left the school under a very dark cloud. Let’s say, money was involved.

He told my Mum he watched me in the dormitory at nights crying myself to sleep. He knew how much I hated the school in the evenings, but didn’t want to let me be a day pupil, because he would be £400 worse off per year. That was a lot of money in those days.

Evil. As there were a lot of children who went home at nights at that school and I only lived six miles from the school. He did in the end let me be a day pupil but for how long? Not even a year before I had to leave the school as we could only stay until we were 12.

Just enough time for me to get used to being at home and having a normal life. As I loved the schooling, it was the boarding I couldn’t stand.

I will never forgive that man, not ever and I don’t wish him anything but pain. When my wonderful teacher from that school died at such a young age, and that head lives on and he must be driving towards ninety, it’s not a fair world.

Anyway, I needed the theatre for escapism from that horror.

We arrived; it was dark as I said so LC missed the doors into the place. Haha. We did another walk past it and we found our way in. It was packed. We got to our seats with the help of a very odd lady.

Then the show began.

It was really enjoyable. I have seen the movie, so I knew the story. It was back when Thatcher was closing the coal mines in the north and how the families struggled with life, depression, divorce and so much more, but it was full of northern humour.

Of course there was a brass band involved. In the UK, all pits had a brass band. Once a year we used to have a miners picnic. As   a child, it was just a way of life. Tradition. My Mum loved the picnics as her Dad was a conductor for a miner’s brass band and later on an orchestra.

She idolised her Dad so I knew the handkerchiefs would be out as she used to always cry when the bands proudly marched by as the onlookers applauded.

The streets were full of colour. Floats went by and there were jazz bands as well as carts with the Princess in the front.

The church halls would have ladies with tables full of goodies and the atmosphere was one of pride.

Thatcher destroyed all of that.

The speeches at the end were rather political for us, so we never stayed to listen to those.

But good days.

The audience tonight were very against conservatives. That was rather nice to know. So very sensible people in the theatre. It was amusing how political the production was and how the audience participated in the anti-conservatives.

The band was great and the humour was wonderful but a sad ending, not as sad as the film though.

We stood up and walked out with ease, again into the blanket of February chill but this time, heavy rain.

A lovely night and tomorrow, Saturday, my dear friend Julie is coming to stay overnight.

Happy Saturday friends. X

EYES OPENED IN SCOTLAND PART 2

Part 3 to follow

EYES OPENED IN SCOTLAND PART 1

The staff at Edinburgh train station were amazing.

Part two later.

FOR ELISHA AND ERIC

Dearest Fiancée

By Fiona Cummings

Why did you come to me?

Make me so happy

Then you were taken away

On a cold wet winters day

You were my first love

Sent down from above

A lesson I had to learn

Now my heart does burn

I hold out my hand

You’re not there

I don’t understand

Now who will care?

My life was planned

With you I would share

It doesn’t seem fare

Tears I cry

Though I got to say goodbye

Then they came for you

Gave you wings so you could fly

With words “I love you

Said from my heart

An angel smiled then tore us apart

Oh I’m going to miss you with every breath I take

The pain will be hard each morning I wake

But at least we shared times of happiness

You gave me that gift

When I was down

Your voice removed my frown

Though it was just for a little while

You made me smile

But oh it’s you I will miss

Now who will I kiss?

I will wear your ring forever

As in my heart we will always be together

The angel left a feather

And I know you’re somewhere better

I will never forget you

And know you are watching down on me

In the sky so blue

I now will live for you

And from that will have a life

I ache as I never got to be your wife

That cuts like a knife

But God took me to school

And introduced me to my lesson

This was you

My blessing

Dearest Fiancée

 I will forever love you
