THE ANGELS ARRIVAL

Another day another $. Haha, we may want dollars if our pound keeps decreasing. Well if we have to go rock bottom to get to the top, bring it on. I feel sorry for my American cousins over your future Presidency. Some people from the US have asked what do our people think of Trump and Clinton?

Our media don’t like Trump and I think I know why? It’s not because of our media morals, as our press don’t have any. It’s because Trump wears his heart or words on his sleeve whereas Clinton hides them under her designer jackets. So how boring will our headlines be if Trump gets to be President? Whereas if Clinton gets elected, wow, our journalists will have what we call a field day. Then the dirt will be publicised. She will make Trump look like an angel. Well OK may be that is going a bit too far, but she is in my opinion very dangerous. He is just mouthy and has not grown up yet. Now if he was talking about wars, then I would be afraid, but I don’t think that he wants wars, in fact the opposite. She will be prodding that huge stick at Putin and eventually that man will react to all the antagonistic convers that has been thrown in his direction over the past couple of years. Leave that man alone, Putin is on the edge and we don’t want him pushing the button, and I’m not talking about to the lift/ elevator!

If we all kept our noses out of other countries business’s, it would be a much happier world.

Gosh, a happy world? Peace? What would that be like? I guess heaven. I hope there is a heaven? Well there are angels I’m convinced of that and today I’m so proud to announce I’m the owner of another angel. In art form. My dear friend Beth Write Medor from America has sent me her latest wonder in art. A beautiful angel for my collection. I can’t believe for twenty five years I have been trying to get artists to paint me an angel and they couldn’t, but Beth has done three for me in a year.

I have described this one to you in an earlier blog, but if I can remember as it was about a month ago when I last had a description of it, she has long dark blonde hair that is swept to one side. Her features are there, but very tiny as the focus is to be on her wings. She is wearing a long cloak and it blends in with the clouds. Her wings are like the sunset and they turn into the rainbow. She is flying over water, with her hands by her side. Well she flew to me and it took fifteen days from America. She must be exhausted. Haha. Boy wonder says he will get my frame on Saturday. I’m going to get the same frame as the other two. Kind of a dark silver, very chunky looks like large bubbles coming from the frame that feels wooden, but is silver with a tiny bit of black showing through. The frames are classy like what you would see in a castle. I have no glass on one out of two paintings, as one is a printed copy so that has glass but the other painting my angel that I described to Beth, I wanted it to look so real without the glass it’s better. The angel if you are new Fifi Bloggets that I asked for, she has beautiful long light blonde hair with a silver crown on her head and the crown has light blue jewels in it and she has porcelain skin with a rose bud mouth, her dress is long white and the focus is on her face as people say she comes to life the art is so good. My third that so far is the most popular, I think until I show them this one, is of two huge wings and the beautiful girl with the most piercing eyes is peeping through her wings again has a beautiful face, the focus on this one is her eyes as I am told they are the most amazing colour.

Few, OK my friend told me today that my memory is really good, well it has to be when you can’t see, but that doesn’t mean I have a better memory than those who can see, it just means I use mine more than others do. Now it’s been used fully for today, I need a coffee… Now, where’s the cups kept?

Before I go here is a short conversation

“It’s so dark right now, I can’t see any light around me””

Answer

“That’s because the light is coming from you. You can’t see it, but everyone else can.””

Nobody’s perfect. We’re all just one step up from the  beasts and one step down from   the angels.””

“It’s too cold outside for angels to fly””

So I’m going to put the heating on as it’s also cold in doors. Also, my coffee?

BE THERE?

I read this today and thought it was rather appropriate for this blog. Strong walls may shake, but they don’t fall down.

What is strength? So many people have asked me in my life, what makes me so strong? Me, strong? No, I always said in my life that I am the weakest person I know of. Until recently. Now I have days, only perhaps a couple every few weeks, when I don’t beat myself up as much in life, but tell myself, actually, I must be strong. To go through what I have gone through in life and still be here? But I have been called brave too, even receiving an award for bravery, and one thing I am not, is brave. The award I received was for being quote for being brave for a particular time in my life. Well, that wasn’t brave. At the time I had no choice. I think the two things that I have done in life that perhaps can be perceived as bravery, is because I had a choice then. I don’t think you are brave if you are put in a situation where you have no choice but to survive.

The times I was brave, were when I lost my sight and lived. I lived for my baby. He was all I had at the time in my life to live for. I was very much on my own and I was terrified. In fact, fear, hmm. There are no words I can think of to let you know how scared I was, scared. No, that word is very insignificant to how I felt at the time. I couldn’t breathe properly. I wanted to so badly die, but didn’t want to leave my one year old on his own. He would have been put into a home, how I started my own life, no way I was going to mirror my Sons life on my own past. So I guess I had a choice, to be selfish and die, or to live. Now to live in the circumstances I was living at the time, was brave. Second time of facing a brave choice, was the decision to leave my ex for a new life. That was the biggest step I have ever made, again I did it I had a choice. Stay with him, leave him to be on my own or leave him to be with my forever love. I chose the latter. And that was a brave move, only those who know me very well will know why?

My Husband is brave. He has travelled all over the world. Never been able to see, some people used to say he is used to it, so he is OK. No, that wasn’t how it was at all. You don’t get used to being blind. You learn to adapt. He went, he worked and he thank God returned home. But was he happy? Did he feel safe? Was he comfortable? Did he enjoy his times abroad? Answer, no. His footsteps every day are brave. My footsteps each day are not at all brave.

One thing I would like you to think about today please?

Silence can be a person’s loudest cry!

So, what does that mean? Those who constantly cry and tell you how bad their lives are; they are the safe people. Those who either are wearing a forever smile or act as if everything in their garden is well, those who never complain, the quiet people quiet as far as anything other than joyful stories are concerned, are the people who need help and need you to reach out to them either by a few caring words or a kind gesture. It may take time, to get them to open to you, but if they do, if they feel that they can trust you, you will be there to catch them when they fall, and in return, I hope someone will be there for you if you ever get a bit wobbly on your feet.

That person may not be the one who you helped, but another. We are all put on this earth for a reason, if you don’t know your reason, then please take some time out just to care!

DIARY OF CHRISTMAS ALREADY BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Good day to you dear Bloggets. Gosh, so sorry not been here for a couple of days. I’m back now though. Thank you for all of your emails. A few days off my blog page and I am touched that you even miss latest words. Still waiting for some more suggestions on what to write about, this page is yours remember. If you choose to read it, then let me know what you want to read about, sometimes I just ramble on, and some guiding on what to ramble or research would be good. Smile.

A strange weekend, followed by a lovely day yesterday. I went into the office to give a talk. So off to where I had to give my speech if you like, lots of cuddles for the Wagging one and then my perfect partner in crime who is just the best, met up with a wonderful lady and off we went for lunch in a style only my side kick, or am I, the side kick? Side something anyway, could go in.

We had a lovely lunch where we did laugh as my friend tried to show me something a decoration from a Christmas tree, yes you read correctly, a Christmas decoration she knew I would like, well let’s just say, as she was putting it back, it didn’t quite go back in the same condition as it left its tree She is so much fun. Nothing is ever boring an yet we can have very serious conversations too. I love that.

Then it was time for her to go back to the office and I stayed with the lovely lady and she very kindly showed me around the garden centre where all of the Christmas decorations were on display.

Waggs was very patient though she did have a few moments where I had to tell myself, well, she is at the end of the day an animal. Haha. Sometimes I say that about people, and they are not half as cute.

Let’s say, she enjoyed the biscuit section and when we got to the till, she took a rather embarrassing liken to an item I bought and launched herself on the counter to sniff the box of delights that I had purchased. The edible box.

I was shocked by her, as she has never ever done that. But what I bought was a very strong smell I guess to dogs. Cringe moment, luckily the assistant laughed. I didn’t. But in general, it was half seven in fact quarter past that morning, when I let her out to spend as we call it, and she went for hours, but she does at home, unless I’m taking her out, then I take her to the garden, but she normally goes out in the morning then about half two. Well, it was almost three in the afternoon and she had not been to the toilet, so at least she didn’t shame me that way.

We went to LF’s home before he came to us. Remember the lady who had to climb through the hatch in her dining room to get to the kitchen, where LF had blocked the door by eating or at least lifting her kitchen carpet? Oh heck. Seriously, as I went in the house, wow, what a beautiful house she has? To think of our LF doing so much damage? Thank goodness he is so settled now, when he went to the lady’s house, he wasn’t a happy boy, but she was so very good with him, and now she has two more dogs, permanently, who had to retire early as guide dogs. She gives them a perfect life and I can tell you, I have never known such privileged dogs. Not only do they have variety in their lives, they have lots of wonderful holidays, perfect for dogs and toys as well as a beautiful house and so much love from the lady, it’s bursting out of the windows and doors.

As I entered the porch, wow, they say if you are going to sell your house, the outside is important, ours gets 9 out of 10, as you walk through the door, is so important, ours gets 5 now we have the beautiful work done by the joiner, but no ten or just under, because you couldn’t swing a duck in there. Not that I would swing a duck, reminds me, Someone I was talking with yesterday, she has ducks. And I’m not talking about the kind you have in your bath… She said if she leaves the kitchen door open, one of the ducks, comes in and climbs on a little stool and admires herself in the long mirror on the wall. She said she, the duck that is, not my friend, doesn’t think it’s a pal, as she poses hahaha. How cute is that?

Well I digress, this entrance hall, gosh the doors and windows are really beautiful. I thought they were lead glass but I was told they were called something else but I can’t remember what? Well they were very tactile and had roses and leaves around the glass. It was what I would call a vestibule and there was a stunning solid wooden unit with either metal or iron handles, reminded me of a unit my Mum or Nana used to own, I wish I had kept it, it was solid wood, old fashioned wood so really dark and on the front were lions made from kind of metal or some sort of iron with those handles like rings that flop down and sound like a letter box on a door when you let go of them. For my Bloggets who live abroad, in the UK we have flaps on our front doors for our letters to go in and when the old fashioned ones close, they make a kind of ting, ting sound. Hahaha. The new doors don’t do that as they are more firm and snap closed. Do you know when you start something and you wonder where it is going?

Hmm.

Well I’m trying to describe the lady’s unit. Smile. Without going around feeling it, I tried to be discrete… It was that rustic wood I love. Oh the fragrance in her house too was beautiful. Like subtle rose petals and in her downstairs toilet, the fragrance was cherries. Funny, we can get cherry air fresheners, but have you ever smelled cherries as in the fruit? I don’t think they have any smell. So how do we get to the fragrance of cherry air freshener?

I sat on the plush chair in the large lounge and the whole house though I obviously couldn’t see it, even when I was given a guided tour of the beautiful home, and that was what it is, a home rather than a house, because it’s so cosy. I felt it had class. Gosh, such a beautiful house. Well, when I go to people’s houses I always keep Waggatail on her lead, but She was welcomed to play with the other two dogs. And play she did. She went to the toy box and picked her toy out and then her and the boy dog played in the garden. Waggs helped herself to a drink of water, and was kindly given a biscuit as we had a coffee and a lovely chat. Back to the office and too short of a chat with the lovely admin who I love there, and back home with Hub. It’s after mid-day I don’t need to go out until later, it’s a good job, apart from a few seconds in the garden, Waggs is flat out after her busy day yesterday of being a perfect show dog to represent Guide Dogs, to being well behaved as we took lunch. She lay under the table so well as always, to walking around the vast garden centre, showing me and herself up twice, to having a great time with the other two dogs and the long journey back home. Shattered dot com she is… Now, zonked.

It was lovely to be able to browse and rather than us going to a shop, getting assistance to get the one or two products that we need before rushing off out of the shop home, to be able to see what there was and what brilliant descriptions were given to me of the items for sale.

It was a totally different garden centre to the ones back in Newcastle, this was kind of huge displays. There were fire places all decorated. Some with garlands stretched across the mantelpiece with little robins among the pinecones but my favourite was, Green ferns entwined to create the garland with red berries and every now and then, there were red wine glasses with a tea light candle in. I guess you would use the battery ones for safety? How stunning would that look though? Especially in an English cottage.

On the ceiling, there were hanging umbrellas with the material removed. On the frame and spokes as well as the handle, there were lights wrapped around. There were large Santa’s you could buy and penguins, snowmen and so on. Tables were decorated with a Christmas lay out and they even had staircases decorated as well as three cottages well the fronts of them with picket fences and small shrubs to show what you could do outside your house and in your garden. All on a grand scale.

It’s strange in October before Halloween and Bomb fire night, to see Christmas decorations, some would say it’s very wrong. I kind of agree, but we live in a I want it now society. Gone the days when the Daddy would go out on Christmas eve and chop down the tree dragging it home with a rocking horse he had made in his workshop!  I do wonder if in five years’ time, Christmas shopping will start in June?

I guess before the rush though; it gives people time to buy without being pushed about. There was a child in a wheel chair who asked to talk with Waggs. I stopped to let her stroke her and a very angry woman said in a rude voice. “Can I just get by?”” She could see the child was just stroking Waggs, could she not wait thirty seconds? Or go four steps to her right and go down the next isle? As we were right at the end of the isle. What goes around comes around. I hope one day she finds herself in a situation where she wishes that someone just showed a bit of compassion? An eye for an eye? Oh yes, I’m a firm believer.

I bought a friend of mine from where I used to live a gift for Christmas and some decorations. I got a cuddly mouse with his best Christmas outfit on to sit on Hubs forbidden piano. Well he has a soft butt so it won’t scratch, right? Well that is where the Christmas teddy and reindeer go along with the polar bear in December.

O Teen went to a funfair last night. It was a really rough area he went to. I was anxious. It was about an hour and a quarter drive from here. He didn’t get in until well after midnight and for the second day in a row, he was up today at half five. I’m a bit concerned about him, as now it’s half past twelve, he normally is home by eleven for a lunch but not back yet. Not answering a text and his phone is not on. Ambulances have been flying by, so you know what I’m like? Worried? Just slightly.

Oh Waggs has     just woken up. Oh boy, she is wild. How does she do that? Fast asleep now full of energy? There is no in between.

OK dog attention time, I hope you are all well. I’m grateful to my company yesterday. And always grateful to You all. Even when I don’t post anything on here, the page receives about one hundred views per day. People look at older things that they may not have read. X

SHE BY FIONA CUMMINGS

SHE

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

She put on her makeup, to cover

Her tear stained face

So she blended in, with every other

Not wanting to look, out of place

Outside her world

No hand to hold

Standing bold

But with a broken heart

To others she looked complete

But she knew within, she had to except defeat

She was torn apart

Shredded and bruised

Waisted and used

Her kindness was abused

Where to go now

Moreover how?

FRIDAYS DIARY (SMILE) BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Here I am at half seven in the morning after seeing my baby girl off. Hub told me that there is a collection and awareness event for our Guide Dog office so wondered if I wanted to let Waggatail go with him? Well, I knew I didn’t need to go anywhere today also she adores going places meeting new people and seeing Wendy who will be there, so why not?

Well, I told Wendy and she is excited to see the Wagging one and Waggs never even looked back as Hub took her to the car, put her in then came back for the Little Fella who sat next to me with slight panic on his face as he watched his Daddy and Waggs leave the house without him.

Gosh the house will be quiet today? Not sure how I feel? But hopefully Waggatail will create cute appeal and gets some penny’s for her team.

Gosh, Hub carried all of the boxes around from the back to the front today and then freaked out as he realised that he has lost his kindle? Well it wasn’t where it normally is, upstairs, nor in his work bag. I asked him did he bring it downstairs with him, he answered yes it was in his coat pocket. I said he must have dropped it outside. He replied no, as I would hear it.

Well he traced his steps and thank goodness he found it on the ground, so please let it be OK? His book is his life line when he is doing silly long train journeys. He normally works on the train but when he is doing three hours plus journeys, he likes a break of half an hour of book, also there are two taxi drivers when he is going in the office, who bore the pants off Hub so he likes to read his book. Me, no way I could be so rude but Hub has no issue with that. Haha.

Seriously I could write a book on taxi drivers. Most of them are fine and there are two who Hub is very very fond of and has high regard for. But two of them? Oh boy… When I was going for my interview, I was dreading the fact that I may get two of them, not obviously at the same time, smile, though knowing these two, birds of a feather an all?

Shamrock came around last night. She had been to Ireland. She’s Irish you know? And brought teen some lovely gifts back. One of the gifts is a sheep that is also a pillow and it has a green shamrock on it oddly enough, well, I guess it is from Ireland so, not really odd?

It was lovely to hear the two of them laughing and obviously enjoying each other’s company. Gosh such a difference between this girl and the horror he indulged a couple of years ago.

Arty came around yesterday and we had a lovely afternoon. She brought cakes bless her and we of course chatted. Sadly, she has lost another one of her cats. The brother of her last cat she lost five months ago. The really weird thing is, both cats died on the same day, same date? The 29th. Obviously not the same month, but how weird is that?

My heart and thoughts goes out to those in the Caribbean and Florida.  I feel for you all, especially those in the Caribbean who have lost their lives and their families. A point that was said today on social media. “Why do people have trailers in Florida, knowing the weather conditions can get very dangerous?””

Something else I must share that I read on social media I have asked for permission it made me chuckle at silly hour this morning.

I wanted to forward this post to give you a giggle!!! My friend, and her sister are both visually impaired..............

Wild in the aisles...

I'd be lying if I said that being Visually Impaired wasn't at all stressful and frustrating at times but one mustn't dwell as it does not serve one well to do so. Besides, no sighted person on the planet could ever have as much fun in the Co-Op as my sister and I...

I needed Savlon...

Sighted person would...

A. Enter the store and head to the medicine aisle.
B. Scan the shelves, ignoring all other products until their eyes landed on the desired box of cream.
C. Pay and leave.

"Boring"!

Here's what the blind leading the blind do...

A. Enter the store and engage memory map...what aisle is the medicine on this week? There's never a dull moment when the store has had a move around!
B. Concentrate hard until one locates a product that might come under the medicine category.
C. Partner in crime gets her Braille reading finger poised.
D. The shelf scanning begins...
E. "Vag-a-sil" she reads aloud (giggling commences) "Wisdom toothpaste", the search continues as I pass the boxes and it reads...
F. Picture my sister crouched down, guide dog by her side and baby strapped to her front, scanning a box with her finger as a friendly voice asks "can I help you two ladies?"
G. "I have found Anasol whatever that is?" but we are looking for Savlon.. The lady  joins in on our giggles, pointing out what the product was and she kindly took over our plight to locate the Savlon.
H. It wasn't looking promising...we could cure various bodily itches and make our teeth shine but the Savlon was hiding...
I. "You'd think it'd be near plasters profoundly announced as she rose from her crouch.
J. the lady took these words of wisdom on board and continued scanning...
K. Let's just say that finding vagisil and anasol were funny but if the Braille reading had taken us in the opposite direction then she would have found the Savlon nestled snugly between the "Pleasurables" and the "Durex"! Now make of that what you will!

Thank heavens that we live in a small town where we are well known and people come to our rescue. I think we provided the assistant with a chuckle too!

So next time that you walk straight to a product in the supermarket, just think what you could be doing if you were us!
Off to work tomorrow so the streets are safe once more until the sister and I reunite for some more mystery shopping next Wednesday!!

There really can be laughter after the dark. Mind you , people don’t have to be without sight to do funny things in shops? I have told you this before, I was shopping with my ex in a paint shop. At the time I had some sight. We were with my Mum who was looking for paint for her lounge and she only likes one brand.

Unfortunately,

So right across the shop, well two isles, she pounded out the words

“Fiona, is there any Durex? I need Durex.””

She of course meant Dulox, as in the brand of paint.

I wanted the ground to open as a man laughed and in a dry voice replied.

“You won’t find any of those in here love!”

Haha. My Mum went purple as she exclaimed how un impressed she was…

A lovely lady today on line also spoke of how she bought condoms instead of head ache relief. Hahaha. Of course I had to comment to her and ask if she said to her Husband.

“Not tonight love. I have a headache.””

Until later my dear Bloggets with love. X

THE INTERVIEW RESULT BY FIONA CUMMINGS

The phone call came today. Oh gosh. I was ready to ask questions but when the time came. I was numb. I kind of froze and then I was given the news. Of course I was expecting it, I was not successful with the job interview. I did manage in the end to get some words out, though I’m sure they didn’t come across as eloquently as one hoped.

I asked where I went wrong. He said I didn’t go wrong in fact I came across as the most passionate person for the role but at the end of the day, it was a case of experience. He said a catch 22 situation. To get a job you need experience. To get experience you need a job and there were a few others that had dealt in management roles before and where I lacked was facts and figures around business. I forgot to ask how many points I got out of the fifty but not sure he would be allowed to tell me that? Dam, I wonder if my Husband will let me in on that one? Haha. I bet he won’t? I will ask him tonight.

He said that I came across as very calm during the interview. I was, surprisingly calm. Not when I came out mind you? I was shaking like the chains on a ghost. He said at the end of the day I came up against a few very strong candidates. I did get the feeling though that I did OK he said it was a very good interview and I had some incredibly strong points. He also suggested that perhaps I should have a word with the office to try to get more involved in something he felt I would be more suitable at and that was campaigning and fund raising and if I volunteered in such matters, he felt that doors perhaps would open for me there in the future. Em. No, sadly I’m rubbish at begging and trying to subtract money out of people. As for the campaigning, perhaps I will look into it because he did say I would be involved with talking to councillors, trying to persuade them to do whatever we are in need of. Well, that was part of the role I thought that I was already applying for? I do wonder if I should perhaps forget about this organisation and look at another, though my passion is with those who have no sight or who are losing it. My dream job apart from being an author and a teacher, haha, would be working in hospitals talking with people who have just been newly diagnosed. I feel my heart would be open to those people whereas now sadly people get given paperwork and numbers to call, which is all very well but I feel that should be the second stage, after the help that should be there for those who are in shock, some would say suffering from grief.

I hope I have not let you all down? I have received so many emails messages about those of you who wouldn’t dare even think about applying for a job and now have the courage as you know what I’m like? I hope this still is the case, yes, it is so difficult to get a job especially if you can’t see, but more so if you have never worked and if you have never worked, no one will employ you. So that vicious circle. Round and round we go. I know I’m exhausted by it all. It has caused a few words in our household as my darling man is the boss there and I didn’t expect him to help me that would be so wrong in so many ways, but when it came to things like asking him for his help to know what a motion was? And he did seem to try to get me not to apply, is that because he doesn’t want his wife working for him? I put this to him and he said bless him, he was proud of me and would love me to work in his office, but couldn’t seem to be seen to be involved in any way. Well I did learn last night that there is one person who has had words about this situation and he is very hurt by it, I must say as am I. Hub is very honest too honest I would say in work matters. But I have had such a lot of kind words from some of the staff in the office and the day of the interview well wishes and kind hearts were open and sent my way. That I will never forget.

I was pleased that I got a job interview I think there were over twenty people who applied and I was one of between seven and nine people roughly who got an interview, something I never even expected. Apparently that was because of my application form and the cover letter I wrote with it. So not a total failure, just a semi one. Haha.

For anyone out there who is young, please try to work don’t be like me? I failed because of awful circumstances. I don’t wish that for you. Try volunteering and hopefully that will open doors for you. For those my age, not quite ready for your pension, come on, there is still good in the old dog yet? X

DIARY OF CANCER RESEARCH FIGHT FOR SIGHT AND THE LIFE SAVING DOG BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Good evening Bloggets. A strange day but we spoke to our lovely friend Vivi, Hub called her to thank her for her kind gifts she sent him for his birthday. It’s cruising towards midnight and Teen has just come in. He has to get up early for work his washing is still in the washing machine. You know, his uniform? Yep, the clothes that he needs for work in the morning? The clothes that are very wet now, will take an hour to dry then he takes forever to iron? Like I said, it’s almost midnight!

I’m starving. I had a disaster with dinner. I made the meat eaters meal, that was fine, it was a lamb casserole, OK, it had an additional flavouring to it… I needed for my vegetarian meal a tin of baked beans. First tin I opened was tomato soup… Okay, that could go in the casserole, right?

Second tin, for sure it was beans. Wrong. It was again soup. This time Carrot and coriander soup. I thought I could be smart and guess. So, I was wrong.

I know what will happen. I will again, have toast. Bread again. Too much bread in my diet. Also too many tins in my cupboard. I really should have used Tap tap see.

Oh my. So at dinner time, I gave up. Ate a chocolate biscuit. Now I’m so hungry and all the ingredients I had to make my meal, is sitting in an oven dish looking very neglected. Beans was the main compliment for my meal.

Nights are so cold in England at this time of year, but today it was sunny. In the air is the smell of log burners and the fragrance coming from the chocolate factory.

Hub made me a coffee from his new machine tonight. Gosh hot coffee, we haven’t had hot coffee for weeks, as our last machine was quite ill for some time. I dare not go near the machine, last night I went to make a cup of coffee and all I did was open a cupboard door next to the machine to get a cup and next thing coffee pouring out of the spout and without a cup under it, I had to quickly grab one, or our brand new tray under the coffee percolator would have been well an truly christened.

Arty is coming tomorrow I haven’t seen her for weeks if not months, so we will have a lot of catching up to do. I hope Waggs will get a walk, she has been such a good girl going on tiny walks with me just very local because of my stupid knee. Oh I can’t tell you the pain I’m in? I thought it was getting better but one walk to our shop or chemist or a friend’s house and I’m crippled again, seriously if there was a fire here I would be stuck. It’s getting silly, I do need to go to the hospital, just I have absolutely no faith in our hospital at all and again I have tried to see our Doctor but again failed. Gosh if only I had won the Lotto I would pay for a private scan. I have had one experience of a private hospital for a huge operation. It was meant to be a big operation, but because of a huge error our NHS hospital had made on a previous operation, it ended up massive. The experience was unforgettable. In the private hospital. It was called The Spirals something like that and it was the one near Newcastle. Oh my. I was blessed in there I couldn’t believe the difference between that and the other places I have been. I was treat like a human with feelings rather than the blind person that is dumped and forgot about until it is time to insult. Tablets were actually given to me or at least I was told where they were rather than silently placed somewhere near my bed with a nurse hurrying away in case the blind person spoke to her.

Even my poor Mother in law, it hurt us when she told Hub and myself that she found a pile of pills one day and another day the nurse shouted at her for not taken her tablets. She sadly went blind towards the end of her life for some time. She had cancer bless her and this was one of the cruel ways it showed its ugly head.

Talking of cancer, the amount of people who are dying of it right now scares me. Some years ago, people were living. Now, it seems like they are all dying and they are getting told that there is no chance? What is going on? How long will it take the public in Britain to start to ask why?

OK I know of one person who I think it was last year was saved, but since then, Teens lovely friends Mum died and she was not at all old. I think a couple of years older than me. Another person I know of is forty and has been told she has max three months to live. Someone Teen knows at the gym, has had to stop going because she has cancer and again I think she is about fifty. She has been given six months. So many famous people this year who again are no older than seventy have died.

Yesterday, Michael Jacksons songwriter of Thriller, Rod Temperton, aged 66 died of cancer.

66, is no age today. Our friend has been told that a treatment can be available in the US if he pays $800 out then $4000 every month of his life after that? Who can afford that? So it’s all about money and because we are some would say including me for certain things, fortunate to have free medical care in the UK, told to go home and die, why is this? Who puts a price on life? Why does the treatment cost so much, and what polices or interventions can be employed?

The high cost of cancer drugs is related to numerous factors.  They say it is very expensive to move drugs from bench to bedside, and to perform all the regulatory studies, including phase 1, 2 and 3 clinical trials to gain approval. Then because they say most cancers are incurable, patients are treated with each approved agent and new treatments are becoming available all the time that may clash with the treatment the patient is already been given. It’s so annoying. I still ask why can’t those who study or research treatments for cancer, lower your costs? Some will say why should they? Well, people do good all of the time give their time and don’t even expect money. The people who are researching treatments for cancer, surely have parents, relatives or even friends who have or who will get cancer? Isn’t it a case of looking out for each other? When it comes to such a dreadful ailment which leads to in some most seams these days, deaths.

Also like for my eye disease, I wish all of the scientists would just stop having this race. I know I have said it before, this is not a game. Our loss of sight is no fun. There are no dice, not even a board, so if you put all of your thoughts your brain power together, you will achieve something rather than taking years to get close only to have your game stopped by a more modern game coming your way. Or something going wrong that if you had put your heads together you would know that your opponent had discovered that last year.

We just seem to be living in a very greedy cold world and I really have never heard of so many people being told when they have cancer, that there is nothing that can be done?

Okay, rant over. It just boils my blood. Talking of blood, we were kind of. Smile. I only learned yesterday that a guide dog has been given a red bandanna that reads “I’m a life saver””

Why is he? Well the dog bless him, though I don’t think he will be too bothered, is a stud dog. Now he is giving blood to save other dogs lives. So they are removing fluids from all angles of this poor dog haha. Bless his paws, what a soldier. It’s something that I had never thought about before. People need blood, so of course dogs will too? I wonder if they get a biscuit and a dish of tea when they have finished?

Well, on that note I shall love                     and leave ya. But not for long. Take care cos I care. X

LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE BY FIONA CUMMINGS

LET’S TALK ABOUT LOVE

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Love me like you have just found me

Love me like I’m leaving tomorrow

Love me because you know it’s me who will make you happy

Never will you experience sorrow

Treasure each single second we are together

Know our love will last forever

I love you today like I did on day one

If you ever left me I couldn’t go on

I want to give you feelings of excitement

To fill your life with compliments

Touch me as if I am a precious treasure

Kiss me at our leisure

Hold me close so our heartbeats dance

If I’m a risk, let’s take the chance

Love me like I love you

And I will send you words so true

Believe in me like I do you

Let’s make our dreams come true

BE GRATEFUL

Back from our meal. Gifts open, cards read. Thank you to our friends who took time out to send cards Hubs way.

Teen out with his friend now. I’m sitting in our lounge with a very full stomach, though I wasn’t keen on the meal. Being a vegetarian is a challenge, but that challenge I shall   live with.

All the gifts I bought Hub for his birthday were somehow wrong. Even the coffee machine, I just went near it before and it made me a coffee, though I didn’t want it too. It’s that sensitive. I don’t think I will be able to use it. Sad about that. The theatre tickets I bought I thought it was written by a friend of Hubs. Well, no. Wrong person. Wrong place wrong time. Also I forgot to ask if they had an audio showing. Silly me. So they are going to be returned and try to get times for when they are showing an audio production.

Two of the designer t-shirts are not right Hub said he wouldn’t dare wear them. They are too expensive. One of the shirts is going back so a pain to do that. The other one he said he will not wear for work, though that is what I bought him for. But the trousers, they were fine. Few, one out of seven?

Shame about the theatre tickets, egg on my face. I love the theatre as does my love, but somehow this time the tickets are not right.

Teen got Hub some lovely gifts, five syrups for his coffee, some chocolates, his favourite, Maltese’s, and a huge cup for his cup of tea. Bless our boy, he is so caring always thinks about his gifts.

Our friend Vivi bought him his last gifts. She got him socks, posh coffee and three work shirts. Perfect. Too kind she is.

All over for another year. Hub and I met 42 years ago tiny children at school. How much time has travelled since then, here’s to the next 42 years?

Yesterday, I had a most enjoyable day with my friend Geordie. She came I made lunch, typical, we had to stay in because I was waiting for parcels. She always says I am amazing because I can make lunches, bless her, she isn’t the most domestic person, but she always looks like she has stepped off the cat walk, whereas I look more like I have just finished walking the cat!!!

Time chased us and won the race so before I knew it, she had to leave to go home to see to her Son. As she pulled away from the drive, in her brand new posh red car, my neighbour came over and he wanted to know if I wanted to go for a cup of coffee? I told him I had to stay in so I invited him and his wife to mine, so I was the hostess with the mostest yesterday.

Still no news on the job front. But I know if I had the job I would have heard by now. I just hope that I will learn soon where I went wrong, if they will tell me?

It’s late, I’m really tired, so I must go to bed, but before I do, some words.

Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some?

Some people complain that roses have thorns. Be grateful that thorns have roses.

TUESDAYS DIARY BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Good morning Bloggets. Last night was lovely, Shamrock came and whenever she comes to the house, suddenly there is sunshine. Long may at last! She is such a cutie. She brought Hub a birthday card, heck wait until Teen reads the card he bought his dad from him and I asked him to get me one too… Well, let’s say, Teen has a very unusual sense of humour and he, as in Teen, did laugh when he was reading them to me last night.

Hub will open his gifts and cards from us tonight, but his main gift I gave him last night. I bought him a new coffee machine. His last one was very ill. It was a huge risk as seriously, most kitchen gadgets and equipment now days are touch screen. Flat glass plastic or chrome. Really helpful if you can’t see.

The machine was from a department shop called John Lewis. Well, I called the shop before going all the way there as I wanted to look at the product before I left the house. They only had two close to the price I was looking at. On line, 27. I wasn’t impressed and said to the lady on the phone. “Why do you have huge shops if there is nothing to look at inside?”” She told me that people on the phone are going crazy about this as people are wanting to buy beds and sofa’s and they are being told that the range is very limited. So things that you need to try out to sit on lay on you can’t even do now? You order on line. It’s becoming so bad to shop we are rapidly heading towards a clinical harsh soulless product way of shopping. So if we always order on line, jobs will go, people interacting will disappear, the lack of being able to communicate will phase out. We will become machines, and I’m not talking coffee…

So a lot of research and I took the leap and ordered the machine and hoped. It came the buttons if you like are sensitive pads so you can just about feel them. What is wrong with blooming buttons? Hub says it’s cost. Well I don’t agree as even expensive items are flat and as for microwave ovens, actually the only range you can buy now with a dial that is functional for those of us who can’t see, are cheap ones.

Did I tell you I ordered a coffee table? Oh I love it. It’s made from solid wood and it’s carved. It is brown. That is the only information apart from the measurements that was given. Thankfully it was bought from Amazon and you can ask questions. Well I have asked before for other things and no answers, but this time I asked what the legs were like and three people kindly took time out to tell me and guess what? It’s not just a normal boring coffee table, but it’s stacked carved books. I would have never known this. Why can’t the sellers just say the table is a carving of stacked books? Because people take it for granted that everyone in the world can see. Some are confused as how am I writing this blog if I can’t see? Just for those new Bloggets, I use soft wear called Jaws. This enables me to hear each letter I type so I can thankfully touch type though of course I can’t see the screen or buttons that I am typing, oh, don’t get me started again, as even lap tops now are becoming flat… Anyway, each key I press reads the letter, or you can set it to read each word, but pictures or text that is taken as a photograph, is a blank to me.

For all of you sighted people who write reviews on websites, please try to remember those who are not as fortunate as yourselves, it makes such a huge difference. Thank you public service over. Smile…

So Hub was delighted with his machine and tonight he will after work open his other gifts from me and Teen also our kind friend Vivi sent a parcel, bless her. He has his cards to open too. One came in the post, I think I know who it’s from, but tonight will tell.

Oh I’m looking forward to tonight, I have a very special and brave gift for Hub… I’m excited about it. Also the three of us are going out for a meal to our lovely train carriage restaurant.

I’m going to move some furniture downstairs now, so wish me luck. My leg is better than it was so I hope it will be OK. Once I get a bee in my bonnet though, haha. Where does that expression come from?

Meaning

Preoccupied or obsessed with an idea.

Origin

This phrase clearly alludes to the state of agitation one would be in when finding a bee inside one's bonnet. It follows on from the earlier expression 'to have bees in one's head', which had much the same meaning. This is recorded from the 16th century, for example, in Alexander Douglas's Aeneis, 1513:

Quhat bern be thou in bed with heid full of bees?

Beekeepers have always worn protective headgear when working with bees and it is possible, although entirely speculative, that the bonnet refers to this.

The first citation of 'bee in his bonnet' in print that I have found is the Reverend Philip Doddridge's Letters, 1790:

"I suppose you have heard of Mr. Coward's pranks. He has, as the Scots call it, a Bee in his Bonnet."

Thankfully Hub has not had to go to London like he thought he would have to today. So he will be home normal time just before six tonight. He has had really bad pains in his face again for two days now. Last night bless him, he was in agony. So I pray he is better now?  We are sad about our Little Fella, I really hope that he is going to be OK and the early signs of his arthritis will take so many years before it shows its ugly head and by then there will be treatment as the kind he has we are told that tablets won’t help he will just become lame. He is only two bless his gentle soul. But he is happy and loved beyond love. Also he has a forever home with us.  In my next blog I will tell you about my day yesterday. I loved it. Until then, thank you all for coming back and keeping this blog going with your reading. I love to have my Blogget family and remember if there is ever anything you want me to research or write about, just let me know? X

Thanks to The Phrase Finder

MONDAYS DIARY BY FIONA CUMMINGS

Good morning Bloggets. Well a late night yesterday and I’m sorry I had tech troubles hence why “It’s a dog’s life”” my blog for some reason that I am not sure of, published four times, haha. Bless you all as so many people read each one. I just hope you didn’t read one, then the same people read the next one then the third and then the forth? If you did by the time you read all of them, you will think you are going mad? No, it was me entirely all my fault. Only thing is, not sure what I did wrong?

A busy day today, lots of deliveries. Then my dear friend Geordie is coming. It’s been three weeks since I saw her too long, and about six weeks before then. The last time I saw her we went out with our Husbands and the four of us had a lovely time. We have loads of catching up to do. Sadly, I’m not able to go out with her today, so we are staying in. I have so much due to be delivered today, firstly our very kind friend Vivi  has posted Hubs birthday present. She never forgets bless her. Thank goodness for kind friends like her. She is our family. It’s sad we don’t see her enough. Last time was the wedding of her daughter. Need to have a word with the lovely bride and tell her she needs a six month party, then her first year Anniversary and so on haha. It was a great day.

Shamrock is going to Ireland for a few days to see family so I guess Teen will be like a bear with a sore head for the next couple of days? He may be going to our old home town to see his friend at University. The lad has only been there three weeks and already wants to come home. Funny two of teens pals at that University suffered. One last year started and hated it wanted to quit so many times an yet is still there a year later. But this lad only three weeks?

What is the connection? Both lads went to private schools and it was funny as I was talking to a teacher friend of mine and she said that parents are furious because all they thought they would have to do is say what school their little treasures had gone to and bingo, they would get the chosen University. Well, my friend said no, Universities are not wanting private school kids as they quit their course within a year. I thought that wasn’t totally true, well all I have as evidence is what my friend said and two of Teens friends. So perhaps it’s true? They have had things done for them all of their lives, and now it’s the real world. They can’t cope.

It’s getting really cold here in the UK. I have had to put my heating on a few times. I love the winter, but after Christmas, I’m ready for spring. Sadly, we have winter for months now, Spring seems to be a thing of the past.

Teen doing great at work he loves it too. I’m so proud of him. He is a really good worker as is his gf. She works sometimes over 45 hours per week.

Oh not all good news about our LF. He has the start of Arthritis. He is two for goodness sake. This is why he has been collapsing. Due to further investigations from the vet. But Hub has been told just to keep an eye on it, smile, he should have asked which one? And see how he gets on bless him. Let’s pray LF will be OK or he will have to take early retirement. We so don’t want that. Our boy has to be Hubs eyes for at least the next eight years? One thing is for sure, if he has to retire, no way we are giving him up. He is my baby. And our Waggatail adores him. They can be in bed and suddenly one will get up the other will follow, normally Waggs behind following her little Brother. Hub had a problem this morning as Waggs went in the porch near the front door and no way she was going to go back in the living room? She was adamant that she was going to go to work with her Daddy and Little Fella.

It’s been ages since I spoke of our lovely friends in Mexico. My poor DD isn’t at all well. Mexico for sure hasn’t been good for him. He now has E. coli. he is losing his sight in one eye and his cancer is being very nasty. Poor man, but he is a tough cookie and fighting in his corner.

Well will today be the day when I find out the result from my interview? I hope so.

Next blog I will write to let you know how my day goes with my lovely friend and tell you about Hubs birthday present. Oh I’m excited to let you know what it is.

Before I go, some words.

Fall down seven times, get up eight. A Japanese proverb.

The beautiful journey of today can only begin when you learn how to say goodbye to yesterday.

IT'S A DOGS LIFE

Good afternoon Bloggets. It’s sunny and chilli outside but cooler in our house. “Why is that Fiona?”” I hear you asking. Well, Hub and I on a day of rest, only no one has taught us that we have Sundays off working, we had the great idea of defrosting our freezers. Yes, they had an S, on the end.

We have two, one in our house and one large one in the garage. The garage where our exercise machines are along with our Dryer. Good job we don’t need it for a car? Haha.

My two dogs are singing. Or is it crying? Waggs has such an annoying cry and Little Fella has such a deep voice it really doesn’t match his baby face and behaviours. I swear, they are almost singing in harmony.

Why are they running around and screeching? Because they are about to go for a walk. A very kind lady who is a volunteer called June is taking them! It’s odd they know at weekends they go out. They haven’t quite grasped which day, Saturday or Sunday, but they know when Daddy is home that there is a chance that it is the day.

It’s amazing how dogs know when you are not feeling good either. Some say that they smell pain? Last night my knee was killing me and I have a sofa that you press the button and the legs lift. Well, I couldn’t stand bending my knee so I raised the seat. LF came over to me, put his head on my lap then suddenly went to my knee and pushed, yes, pushed his hot head on my knee. Oh it was lovely. It helped so much. He stayed there for at least seven or eight minutes. Not moving a muscle. He is my Golden boy. Oh and get this? Last night or should I say this morning, about threeish? Waggs woke up and cried. I’m thinking why? Her LF is near her, she only cries when he isn’t here. Well, next thing we hear pitta patta. Little monkey had come upstairs. Whenever he has been to the nice lady’s house who looks after him when we are either on holiday or the other day when he had to stay over at the vets, he comes upstairs. He never bothers any other time.

Well he had come up without us or Waggs knowing and he must have like us, heard her cry and he took himself downstairs. She was fine after that. How cute is that?

Their beds are getting washed now and after their walks I will groom them. An exciting day tomorrow more later. As for my result for the job? Let’s see if I get a call tomorrow? Maybe I will get the answer via email? Not sure. I hope phone then I can learn more about the result. Loads to tell you and catch up on but right now, must dash. I hope your weekend has been interesting? Peaceful and you have found some love somewhere.
