DIARY OF A MUST READ TO EDUCATE

Good morning afternoon or evening, wherever you are in this land of earth. Not sure you can receive my blogs in space, but if you can and you are there right now, hey there. I once received an email from an astronaut so you just never know. Mind you I’m sure he was writing from earth…….

Well, Hub got up at silly hour to go to work. I lay in bed. I turned to him and asked him to give my LC a kiss from her Mummy before they both went to work.

Oh.

My heart was hit like a bolt of thunder had just struck it. I felt sick, guilty too. Poor poor Hub. My stomach sunk and my chest hurt. His sad voice as I apologised. Oh God it hurt. Never will I learn to think before I speak. How long will it last before we stop saying things like that? She has been gone now for eighteen days. I don’t, I can’t believe it! It’s not true I don’t want it to be.

Hub used to get up out of bed with a spark. No more. It’s now a duty. Thank goodness he hasn’t had much travel to do for work. Only once and that was cut short. Thankfully there is a lot of budgeting to do in his office so not much train journeys elsewhere.

This Thursday he is to stand in our town with some of his colleagues and hopefully raise money for Guide Dogs. He is taking my little Wagga. He won’t be able to use her as a guide, so not sure how he will get there and back, but we will see about that. Wagga won’t be working in our town so she will be OK. As she can’t stand doing that. She can’t cope. She is so fragile. Doesn’t like loud noises at all. Well, she is fine with music it’s just traffic. I don’t think she was subjected to that in her puppy walking days. She certainly has never been on a train. I was talking to a puppy walker not long ago who said she was told not to take her puppy to the cinema. Please, why? That was my question. Apparently she was told by a puppy instructor not to. So why? Do blind people not go to the movies? Any puppy walkers out there, please, listen, we do. We are like you, just we can’t see. So we go to the pictures, theatre and we do travel on trains. Most puppy walkers do know this, but the odd one doesn’t. As we were talking to a lady last year once again, we asked her what kind of places she takes her guide dog puppy to be trained. Her answer was around the shops and cafés.

Our LC / Suki, was amazing. She wasn’t afraid of anything. She would get Hub out of the worst situations. She went on trains, aeroplanes even boats. Our little girl did the theatre and cinema too. Not pop concerts though, but she did do a brass band concert two Christmases ago. Both of our dogs are known to frequent the church or in LC’s case, the Cathedral as well.

I listened to a radio interview about how blind people are treat and, what it’s like for blind people in the UK.

It did annoy me a little. So many people said how good their lives were. Well, that is fantastic. I’m here to tell you all of our great days, and you know we have had a lot of those, but I’m real too. I will tell you like it is when times are so dam difficult.

There is nothing worse when you are first blind and you hear how good life is. I’m not joking. There is being positive and being real. Life isn’t a bowl of cherries. We come across so many obstacles. We don’t just do tasks, we achieve them.

Life can be easy, but not as easy if you can see. If you are newly blinded or have been blind for some time now, or even all of your life, you will still have down days. Those hot summer days when all you want to do is have a picnic. But how? It’s not the easiest thing to do in the world.

You need bread milk from your local shop. You head out on that winter morn. And half way you discover there is ice. What to do? Go home, hoping you miss more ice, as you don’t know it’s there until you slip. If you go home, you still have no bread and milk. So you continue. You are terrified of falling. One path has thick snow that hasn’t been cleared away. Where is your path now? It’s hard to define.

You are to go to your child’s school play fair or a meeting at the school. Try doing that with your eyes closed.

I remember when I used to take my son to his football. Oh I hated Sundays. He would put me yes; put me, on the field. Give me a kiss and tell me he would come to me at the end. So there I was. Standing there. Slowly the other parents would come. No one in the early days would stand even close to me. Which way to face? There were the children playing football one direction, the other way there were siblings also playing, who weren’t in the team. So in which direction. Concentrate. Listen so carefully. See if I could hear a name being shouted I knew were in the team.

Shouting, whistles. Parents in the distance groaning with deep breaths. Obviously a child had been injured. Who’s child? Was it mine? God I don’t want those days back.

Empty birthday cards. Who from?  As for the work place? Even getting a job. Well, before you get employment these days almost every job a blind person can get you have had to have had experience before. How to get that if no one will employ you?

I tell all those employers out there. If you interview a blind person and you think that they will be great for the job, you I’m sure will have a very loyal employee. Normally we go that extra mile to prove we can. We are so capable if we have the equipment in place which really isn’t much at all. Just open your minds to us and look at our brains.

Going to University for blind people is so difficult. Finances for one thing. We can’t really get a part time job in a shop or bar as I’ve touched on before.

So for that radio five live this morning. Great to the people who can’t see and are happy, but for those who were listening at home, you aren’t alone. You are not the only people who can’t see and who don’t feel confident enough to leave your homes. My blog is for the silent voices.

The trouble is with so many positive people saying they are happy being blind; never will we have a cure or treatment for those who don’t feel like you. So yes, be positive, that is great, but please, try thinking out of your own box. Lift the lid of others and take a look into their lives.

So that rants over. On with my day. As I took a shower, and got dressed. Searched for black jeans. I have two jumpers the same, one dark green, the other red. Hmm. With jeans it doesn’t really matter what you wear, if I wore black trousers, I don’t think I would wear dark green, though it wouldn’t be a disaster. Navy trousers and dark green would be. But I wanted to wear red. Red and black are lovely. Also I was to wear my black shoes and black jacket. Got my card to pay with. I know that card now. So don’t get it confused with other cards in my pack of jokers.

I decided to put some washing in the machine before leaving my house. So fun with the colour detector. A shirt of Hubs read, it was pink, purple, blue then it said yellow….. So OK, I was doing pastels. So it wasn’t dark or white, so that would do. Now what colour was it? I then went to my Tap Tap See. That is an apt on my IPod. It’s great; it costs but its fine. See, if you have sight, no need to pay for things to tell you colours. Anyway it read the shirt was lilac. Most things today I was OK with and remembered the colours. I have learned it’s easier if I don’t allow the washing basket, to get too loaded. So less daunting.

Put the washing in. Goodness knows what number it went on, but nothing has shrunk yet. You can get rubber like dots for your washing machine. They are orange and you get a sighted person to put them where you want them on your machine. But we don’t have that. On our last washing machine we did.

I filled the dish washer wiped the kitchen down emptied the inside bins and picked up my shopping bag just before letting Wagga  out to the toilet as don’t want any doggy doodles on the way.

Then went to the front door. It was an hour and a half since teen left for work. He hadn’t locked the door again. I wasn’t pleased.

On my way to the shop. On my way there were a few distractions for Waggatail. She if I hadn’t told her a, would have took me another way. A path to another dog I could hear in the distance. I corrected her and around the corner and over the road we went. Someone was across the busy dangerous road. She started to head their way, really, I wasn’t happy with her. Another correction and a firm no.

Then our lovely neighbour came to speak with me. She is so sweet. She’s a Muslim so I’m conscious of my Waggs. As dogs don’t have any religious views everyone is their friend and everyone is there just to stroke them…  So a strong hold on little Waggs. Some sweet words were exchanged and on my way. I was slapped by wet huge autumn leaves. Poked by end of summer bare branches and teased by dying thorns, telling me they would be back next year to rip at my skin….. Unless of course there is a cure or treatment then I will see them coming and I won’t bleed on my way to the shop….

First stop was our chemist. Well. I put a box in there two and a half weeks ago for Guide Dogs. You put in a pound and take out a badge of a paw.  I asked our chemist, how many badges were left? Just in case it needed collecting.

It was still half full. Not half empty. Haha haha. Such a positive Fifi.

I bought some blister plasters. For five, three of them tiny, it was £5.40 shocking.

Tablets for Hub just normal pain killers for a head ache. Then on to the shop to buy some fish for Teen.

There are new staff in there and I’m not impressed. Young people who need teaching about blindness. Basically, I was asked what I wanted. She went off to get it and I hate that. Normally I would tell her I was coming but I only needed one thing. So she got it shouted to me to come to the till. OK. What till? There were three and lots of noise. Anyway little Wagga made sure I headed to the tills. And the girl on the till was an oldie, and called me to her. Waggs did well in finding the tills. She would. There’s always food under there. Haha.

Back home, spoke with another neighbour. Such a friendly place to live. I love it.

More to write later but for now, remember an open mind to the blind. X

THE SUMMIT BY FIONA CUMMINGS

THE SUMMIT

BY FIONA CUMMINGS

On the wing of the cloud

Feeling so proud

Flying high

No questions left how or why

Just accepting what comes along

Allow me to be carried by the breaze

Across golden autumn leaves

Into snowy mountain views

Over oceans green and blues

Enjoying the tidal crews

 White waves

Silver stars guiding the way

Yellow moon at the end of the days

Navy nights tucking in my bed

Saying goodbye to false promises so dead

Being able to see through fog in the haze

No more mistakes

 Receiving only praise

On the wing of the cloud

Feeling so proud

Being able to look around

Nothing in my way

Curtains opened

Nothing broken

Only truth spoken

Fresh air free from choking

Through the air as though one is floating

So free

No one can hurt me

Am I in a dream?

This feeling is so real

On the wing of a cloud

Feeling so proud

Butterflies flying inside my stomach

Let’s hope they stay in flight

And never plummet

Have I reached the summit?

DIARY OF THE BIRTHDAY

Good day to you all Bloggets. So my weekend. Well, Saturday evening I had pre ordered Hubs Birthday party food to be delivered. It was to come between nine and ten.

Ten past ten and it hadn’t arrived. I was a little anxious to say the least. If the food didn’t arrive neither would his box of his favourite chocolates Malteeser’s. Party food and birthday cake. Neither would our basic food for the week.

Well, when the man came at half past ten, he didn’t even have the courtesy to say sorry he was late.

I’m not being horrid as if not for these people who deliver our food, I really don’t know what we would do, but, I’m sure their brains are handed out in the plastic carrier bags we get with our food in.

These people can’t read and some don’t even talk in a manner of respect. When they do its normally patronising. Mind you, it depends on what shop we get our groceries from. If from a shop called Acado, then they are normally OK. As they are foreign. So speak such little English that they can’t be condescending but do know the words please and thank you. They also say have a nice day. Bless them.

But all of our shopping was there nothing missing, so great. Now time to separate what was for the party tea and what wasn’t. Hmm. A squeeze shake and rattle later, most of it I learned what was what. I had to ask teen as a last result what three items were. Not more than that or he gets a little tense. So much looks the same these days.

Now how to hide things. Some went in a bag on our breakfast bar; some went to the left side of the fridge. How to hide a huge chocolate cake? Well, I managed.

I was shattered mentally as I like to do a really nice party. I know there is just the three of us, but twice a year we have birthday time once for Hub and the other for our little chap. Or I should say young as he isn’t little. In fact he pats me on the head now, when he passes. Cheeky monkey.

I had done a lot of housework that day. Normally Hub and I work side by side at weekends, but he had been unwell that day with his eye pain. He hasn’t had that for so long, but he was quite bad that day.  So he rested and I worked. I just wanted him to be better for the big day.

Time to wrap his gifts that I thankfully managed to get with the help of my dear friends Trix and Hanz. I didn’t tell you about that, but Trix also is blind. Wow, that is the first time I have been shopping with a blind friend. Been of course with Hub and have written about that before. He and I love to shop together but for Trix and myself. It was lovely. She is great to shop with. In fact we are a right pair. She’s so sensible.

I’m not.

  She’s practical.

I’m not.

I’m great with matching and knowing my materials though and know how to have fun when shopping. I’m sure Trix’s young daughter of 22 thought at times

What the heck am I doing out with this nutter?

I know I keep referring to things like this, but, who would have thought when Trix and I were children, that one day we would be in our forties and shopping? Both blind with the same eye condition, whereas when we were children, we could see.

It got me away from the house and I enjoyed being able to buy my love his birthday gifts. OK, nothing exciting, but I bought him a new sweatshirt, a shirt a bottle of aftershave and a belt. Now then, the belt was interesting. There were two of them but they both said the same waist size, but one looked loads smaller than the other. Trix said to measure them against each other and there was a huge difference. So wrongly sized. That’s what I mean by saying she is practical or sensible. I see things still as a sighted person, well, if it says 36 waists, it must be. Though I did notice that it wasn’t very long.  She sees things by touch. I still have a lot to learn.

I had no sleep. Hub kept tossing and turning. He was in such pain bless him. Next morning our brother was coming. First time he has been here for months. I think Christmas last year was the last time. He is my Hubs brother. He’s so lovely. I’m dreading it, as he has applied to go to live in Australia. Oh I will miss him so very much. He’s a big bear with a loving heart. Not when it comes to animals though, we won’t go there…..

Before I got chance to clean up teen’s breakfast, and once again do the floors, the bell rang. It was our bro. He brought me all of his house plants. Not little things you can pop on your windowsill. Oh no, great big plants with razor sharp leaves.

I did say last time I was at his house about a year and a half ago, that I loved his plants, well, I have them now….

He won’t be able to take them to Australia.

But to be honest, I wish he would have kept them and he would stay. Just something else, or someone else, to say goodbye to. My life story.

Well, I told him I needed pots for them now…. He said they had pots. Em. Plastic ones? No way could I have that… I guess he thinks I’m a snob, haha haha. So out we went to buy some porcelain plant pots. Now, I just need a bigger blooming house to put them in.

My brother in law is amazing at describing things, and when he pulls up in his car he always tells us if there is a car parked next to us or not. Just so that we don’t open our door into it.

Then off to lunch. We went local. Really, it would be so good to just go to a new place UT we don’t know anywhere new, so same old. But it was a pub that was across our nasty dangerous road, so a place we don’t go on our own anyway.

At the end, I had my card to pay. The lady came to the table and handed him the machine. I was cross with her I told him I was paying he said we weren’t. He treats Hub for his birthday. So kind. More than his Father did as not even a card. I seriously felt so sorry for Hub. His Dad could have come with his brother as they live together at the moment as bros house has been sold. But never mind. Hub says even when a child at boarding school, he never ever got a card for his birthday. Out of sight out of mind.

Hub did speak to his Dad that night though. By phone. And our other brother the twin of the other, text him. So that was nice.

As my bro planted the pots for me I put on the kettle and shortly after then, he sadly went on his way. I guess it will be Christmas before we see him again. I’m really torn though that this year will be the last one I probably will see him. Gosh he will be so missed.

Our Son had been on a long shift at work. Ten hours. They always keep him so much longer than he is supposed to be there for.

I didn’t feel like any tea party but we had to it been tradition.

Blew up balloons. I know, my Hub was 47, not seven, but again, tradition. Just like getting my Mums china cups and saucers out from our china cabinet. I always do that for our birthdays so in spirit they are joining us.

I made ham rolls, egg mayonnaise sandwiches, in that bread without crusts.  Cheese savoury rolls too. And mini Pizzas with sausage rolls crisps, tiny pies and cocktail sticks. Something I swore I would never buy, those sticks are lethal. Please when you use them if you have a dog, make sure they all go in the bin in the end. I was so careful with them. If a dog gets one of those, it will cut them inside. Tearing at internal organs. Then they sadly will have to get put to sleep.

On the sticks, I put sausages, cheese and pineapple. I did other little bits and pieces too and lots of little cakes  as well as the birthday cake. Teen lit it and brought it through. We sang the song and the party began…

Hub got a lovely card with beautiful words on it from teen and a really smart shirt, a casual one but very trendy. And it fits.

My friends Vivi and Jon sent shirts for work and his favourite coffee as well as smellies. So kind. And Hubs daughter sent coffee chocolate and the other little one put some money kindly on Hubs Just giving page for our name a guide dog puppy Suki. Our friends Trix Like, and Hanz, put a huge £50 on too. So kind. So very kind. We are getting there, closer to the £2500 to help Guide Dogs to get a guide dog out to someone in desperate need. Our little Suki pup will have a lot to live up to. Our girl would have loved yesterday. She thought every  gift that was opened Christmas or birthdays, were all for her. She used to help to open the paper.

Our brother in law brought his dog. At first our little Wagga didn’t really want to know her. But then, she played and went wild. First time we have seen her really happy around the house since our girl went.

An early night for us all as teen had to get ready for work the big boys job now, for the next two months. Personally, I can’t see him finishing this. It’s a tough ask. A long drive early in the mornings. Tomorrow he has to get up at half four in the morning. A long day for him. I hope he does it, for his future employment. It’s a massive opportunity for him, but if he doesn’t I won’t blame him he now has a huge responsibility.

First day at work he text me and after almost six hours, he got his first break. Bless him, sitting in the staff room. All eyes on him as he is the newbie in town. Sitting there with his leftover birthday party food. Hahaha.

I’m going to miss him as he used to pop in during his breaks.

OK I’m going now, keep you long enough.  My Hub working from home today doing something about Procurement.

Later gators. X

TALKING DOG

Well that’s my back windows cleaned outside anyway, I do not dare do the inside on a weekly bases. I have just cleaned all of the windowsills lifting up every ornament and placing them back down.

I would rather do that on days when my Hub is at work though, but it is a monotonous job. So why would I want to do it when he is at work? I will blooming tell you. I hear just as I’m about to pick something up that has been in my family for fifty years.

“Hu’uu’uu’u Hee’ee’ee oh’ooh

As my love takes deep breaths. I go mad as the shock of him actually showing me he is anxious, means I get a fright and almost drop the ornament.

Why do I do it when he is home? Because I can still chat with him and it passes time. As long as I can concentrate on the item, I can still talk.

Not much prevents me from speaking. Hahaha.

My conservatory is fifteen feet long and about nine feet is windowsill for my lovely collectables. Yep, I’m a horder.

So I continued dusting the rest of the house then washed out my fridge and oven. Lovely jobs. I have been to the freezer to see what’s for dinner…. Well something has come out from there wrapped in tinfoil. What is it? I really don’t know. It’s either meat or fish… What kind of meat or fish? I’m not at all sure. Well, basically I don’t know. So Hub asked a rather obvious question. How will I know how to cook it?

Answer? In a pot with a lid in the oven until I know what it smells like and then I will decide. Hahahahaha. Anyone for dinner?

A car crashed into Hub going to work yesterday he was in his taxi doing the last mile and bang.

Thank goodness he the driver and the other driver were alright. The other car, a 4 by 4, was in a state. Hubs taxi was alright. A bit of paint on it. Someone told me years ago never to get a 4 by 4. Don’t worry, not for me to drive, but my ex. People say they are known to be bad in a crash.

4 by 4’s that is, not my ex.

Ever since yesterday, Hub has had a bad neck. And today his migraine is awful. But he said the neck thing didn’t warrant a hospital visit. Also the driver is a lovely man no way we want to cause him anymore stress as he was worried about Hub. I’m sure he will be fine, as for his head ache? Well, he gets bad migraines all of the time. I was saying to him today, when you can see you are told to go into a dark room. When you can’t see?

My Hub has never been able to see. He was born blind. They the doctors don’t have a clue why. We would see flashing lights in a migraine, he doesn’t. But who is to say some part of him isn’t seeing that or isn’t recognising that he isn’t in a dark room. OK I’m mumbling….

My little Wagga and I have been for milk today. No, not down on the farm paying a visit to Daisy, but our local shop. On the way, she hesitated and stopped to look at something. I’m not sure what it was, but I know we had to stop still for just ten seconds. She then went to the left and down on the kerb. Then back up again. Normally I would sense something like a parked car or wheel bin, but I didn’t. I wish Waggs could talk. Smile. Can you imagine the conversation each day?

Morning I come downstairs

Waggs. Mummy, morning. Where is my breakfast?”

Baby gal, you don’t get fed in the mornings.”

“That doesn’t mean we can’t start? Now, I need to go to that awful toilet you call a run. Then I will see what the birds have left for me to pinch. Greedy things that they are. Then I may come in the house, but only if you look like you have a biscuit for me!”

Me, no, you will spend then I will spend. We go to the shop today.”

“Waggs. Yes, we will. I will do my work. I will make sure that you don’t bump into anything or anyone. Though I do find it a little funny when you do ever so slightly clip a lamp post and apologise.

Okay, I’m a bit of a sicko of a guide dog. Hehehehehe. But it is funny Mummy when you wait for an answer. I’m like

Oh cringe Mother. Really?

When we get there, I sniff your pocket and its odd, but when you wear clothes without a pocket, I don’t sniff. How do I know? Hmm. I guess it’s because I’m a genius.

Well, what other animal could do what we fantastic guide dogs do? We even pooh to order for goodness sake.

On our way around the shop, I do my level best to help the shop keeper out and clean the floor for them. Really, why bother with a person when they can have a Waggvac? you need a bag for me, but there so much less money than vacuum cleaner bags.

I bring you to the till and allow everyone to tell their little fellows not to stroke me, I mean, why? I don’t mind at all if they play with me in the shop? Imagine running all over that place? Oh such fun Mummy. In fact, next time we go there, I insist.

The grownups say how cute I am. Hmm. As if I don’t already know?”

Me. “Waggs, your head is so big and you are so boastful, you are not attractive when you are like that.”

Well, Mummy you see it’s like this, to be as brilliant as I am, I have to think positive. No good saying I’m an ugly minggar when let’s face it, I know I’m not?” Anyway after our shopping, we will go to the pet shop. It’s great in there I eat till I drop. Then you ask me to find the door. Hahahehehehhahahah

I take you the long way. Just so I can see if I have missed anything. See Mummy, I’m thorough

Then we will go to the park. You will let me off. I will play run, for my life and pant like a train. I will keep coming back to you Mummy to see if you are alright. But you won’t catch me unless you have a treat in your hand…. Even then, its touch and go!

You touch

I go

Bhawoofwoofhahaha

Well, at the end of the day. I bring you to your door.

You are so relieved when I do that, and you learn your key fits, I get another biscuit. As for when it’s grooming time Mummy, really, can’t you get organised so that I have a king-size mattress to lie on my back and get my tummy tickled. No. Sorry. Em. Brushed. This standing lark, it’s not good enough.

At the end of the day after my dinner and a sleep. My Daddy plays rough with me. I love that, non of that softy Mumsy  stuff I do with you. Then its bed time. I love it when you tuck me in and tell me how absolutely brilliant I have been that day.”

Me

“No darling Waggatail. I tell you goodnight and I love you. Kiss your head and make sure you are comfortable”

“Well, alright Mummy. Joking a side. I do what I do for you because I want to.

Because you feed me good food. Give me lovely treats take me for walks. Give me a reason for living. Stopping me from being bored out of my brain. You make me feel so important because I have something you don’t have and that is sight. I am your eyes Mummy and I will serve you as long as I can. Why? Because Mummy, I love you and I have come too far to let you down.

Am I cute for saying that Mummy? Did I say the right things?”

Me.

Chuckle. You little tinker.”

“Ok Mummy, this is when you tell me I’m so sweet and talking of sweet? Yes please!”

I love my guide dog. She is to others a beautiful little black lab. With amber eyes a tiny face her coat is shiny and she is so clever.

To me. She is a reason to wake up in the morning. She is someone to talk to on days when I am on my own. She is something I have to smile about. She is my means of getting out being human. To be able to feel I have done something in that day to help our household out. I can get that loaf because of her. I can collect my Husband tablets if he needs them. If I’m ill. I can get to the Doctors. Without my Guide dog, I couldn’t do that. The dentist is a place I hate, but it has to be at least once per year.  How would I get there without my girl? I would be like I use to be. Never leave the house. It’s not good for the mind, body or soul.

Guide dogs are our life. We live for our dogs. Thank you to all involved

FRIDAYS DIARY

Hi dear Bloggets. Well I woke up today after the worst nightmare I have had in a very long time. My Suki was still alive. Someone had stolen her and I was out walking with Wagga and again, someone came to unhook her leash from her collar and was about to take her. I knew that was what happened to Suki so I was ready for them. It was a long and painful dream. I woke up sure she wasn’t dead but had been stolen. I jumped out of bed and was in a right state.

I remember when my Dad died, it was the same. I didn’t believe he had gone. I thought they were experimenting on him. I believed that for almost a year. When my Mum died a few months later, after dad, I believed she had gone because I saw her, or felt her. But didn’t with my Dad. It was only two weeks after I had gone blind and my Son was one so it was a difficult time for me. But I kept having dreams that he was still alive and when I woke up, I wanted to get help so badly to try to find him. I hope this isn’t going to be a recurring nightmare. Please no?

Anyway, feeling flat inside so flat, my neighbour Di text me yesterday to ask if I wanted to go for coffee. So I did and we had a nice chat. I’m back now, my boy made me proud today he has been to learn about his job and he is doing so well there. How long he will stand the travel for is another matter.

I’m going to spend a lot of Wagga time this weekend to try to get her out of her sadness. I play with her toys in the garden, but it’s as though she is just going through the motions.

When I went for coffee with Di, I bought some wrapping paper and it was three for two. So I got dark blue with silver stripes and the other two rolls were blue with silver stars. I thought they will do for Christmas.  So there I am in the shop thinking, now, how will I know the difference between the rolls? So I tore the salophen so I knew. Now, where is the sticky tape? I don’t care and neither will Hub if it says fragile on it or if it is golden. I just want to give him a nice day.

Tomorrow will be the second Saturday where we haven’t gone to the town; I wonder how many it will be before we get a new Guide dog. I know people have been waiting forever for one; it’s so bad that there is a waiting list, but it boils down to money.  Like everything.

What do you all have planned for this weekend? Whatever it is, I hope you enjoy yourselves. We have had a few new countries this week reading our blogs. I keep thinking that we have reached as far as we ever will but, no, you keep surprising me. To the blog stats, there is a slight change. I will publish them later. I may not put them on my groups online, but if you are interested, they will be on my blog page at

Thank you for your beautiful messages this week again. You are all so very kind and supportive. I can’t wait to write about our next adventures with Hubs new dog, who knows if it will be soon or not, but lets hope not. He so badly needs one for work too when he is away. Gosh if we get one, I wonder what its nick name will be?

OK going now, teen just coming in. and I need to make dinner. So until later my Bloggets, I hope the sun shines in your heart.

GUESS WHAT IT IS?

This day has been full of words but only working ones. Hardly seen my boy wonder and my Little Wagga can’t talk believe it or not? Well, not words like we know it but I usually know what she is saying.

Almost eight pm and Hub not in yet. He left the house at six thirty this morning. I can’t remember where he was going, how bad is that? I can’t keep up with his diary.

Feeding Waggs tonight her dinner, I just broke down. I’m not kidding its no easier. I just cope better on the outside. But on the inside I hurt so badly. Really missing our girl. The pain is awful. I still don’t know how puppy walkers hand the guide dogs over to go to big school and then onto guide dogs for us? Thank goodness they do though as without them, we wouldn’t be able to have our wonderful dogs.

Going soon to watch the news. Not looking forward to what it says. I just wish the world would calm down especially Russia and the US. Russia means business for sure. I just pray for peace but we have never had it so why change? Our Labour Leeder got into bother yesterday as he said if he got into power, he would remove all nuclear threat to other countries, from our country. So does this leave us the UK as a shooting target?

Dealt with a little nasty man today. He said he was a bereavement counsellor; all I can say is God help those who have to talk with him. As he isn’t at all nice or understanding towards others. Everyone has been so lovely of late my faith in humanity has been restored.

Did I tell you what came through the door the other day? Yesterday in fact? Well, a square box. I got all excited. It was a free sample of hand cream. Right?

Wrong.

Thank Goodness just before my friends came, I didn’t put it all over my face…. Really it looked like a pot of Nivea.

Teen went into the hall where our table is for all the letters and he picked up the box.

“What’s this?”

Me, great isn’t it?

Teen.

“Tuna spread!”

Yack?

Yep, our friend Hanz read it out, 50p off next purchase too. Haha. Both Hub and teen not really wanting to know about it? Why? It looks really interesting. Quite a big pot for a free sample.

Can you imagine though? Mind you, I’m not that daft, I would have smelt it…. Haha.

My Teen left the sauce out in our conservatory where we have our dining table. I was cross as it was full but it had been out overnight so I decided it had to go in the bin, but to replace it on the shopping list, I needed to know what it was? Salad cream, squeeze mayonnaise? Brown sauce? Or tomato?

Well it was tomato. As I lifted the lid before I put it in the bin, I sniffed it. Well couldn’t smell anything so what did I do just before Trix and Hanz were coming? I gave it a squeeze so some air would come out and I would get a whiff.

Well

I got more than a whiff. All over my face I squirted myself.

I just hope it all came off or Hanz would wonder what the heck I had done to myself.

My little Waggs has been in her bed all day. If we play with her she plays back but most of the time she is so sad and so still. This isn’t like her at all.

I do wonder now if she has realised that Suki isn’t coming home after all. Gosh, I wish she was.

Trying to lift my blogs but really it’s so difficult. I just don’t want every blog to be depressing for you all.

To see someone like my strong Hub be so affected by the loss of his guide dog is so sad and then there is little Wagga. We all need a change. This is why yesterday with my friends out was a break from reality. I hope on Sunday we are getting a special visitor who said he may come through to see us. If we do, I am going to ask him to take us for a walk with Wagga so we can all enjoy the day watching her running free and being happy. That is what I need to see her tail wagging and to know she is in a happy place. I’m only happy when those I love are. And right now my Hub and dog are not.

As for teen? Teen is a teen.

Before I go I must tell you this. I wrapped Hub gift for his birthday up and learned that it was in christening paper with golden tape to stick it with.

Oh well….. It feels Okay to me so will to him…. The benefits of having a blind Husband….

1 he can’t see what you wrap your gifts in

2 he doesn’t know how bad I look

3 he never complains about the housework. Well as long as I keep it generally tidy, and dust free, things like stains on floors walls and marks on furniture carpets? We are oblivious. I must say, that really really bothers me. If you have a kitchen floor with tiles. You see a mark. You rub like mad that one spot until it’s gone. We mop the floor and that stubborn stain? Well, I guess it’s still there.

My friends who can see say that my house is cleaner than theirs and I used to think they were just being kind.

Then I went to their houses and learned they weren’t.

Hahahahahahah. Joking, honest I am. Now all of my friends will be looking around their rooms…. I bet I’m in for an earful from them though.

Having said that two of my blind friends are immaculate. I tease one of them JB and tell her she gets a cleaner in undercover. In the dark when everyone is a sleep. It’s so clean her house. As for Trix’s house? Well, Like, is Her Hub and he is the best cleaner around. She should hire him out.

I’m missing her already. The more I see them the more I miss them.

But the more I see them the more I care for them. Each time never thinking it could be possible to care more about friends. They are like my family. We share a lot Trix and me we go way back. As for JB, she is going to arrange a fund raising evening in Northumberland where she lives, where we used to live. Proceeds going to Name a guide dog puppy Suki. Last time she raised money in the same way for Guide Dogs. She raised over £400

People are so kind. Most of them anyway.

OK I will be back tomorrow. If you are off to bed now, sleep well. Love that is lying next to you if they love you and if you are sleeping with no one in the same house as yourself. You are in my thoughts so you’re not alone. Not ever. Xxxx

BELIEVE IN YOUR DESTINY

Good day to you dearest Bloggets. Well the sun is shining it is warmer out there than most days of our summer this year. Love is in the air with a friend of mine and all seems to be moving on in our world.

Hub away working today was to stay overnight but decided to come home later. I just don’t think he can stand the thought of being away without our Long Chops. Suki will have been away from us two weeks tomorrow already. I miss her as much today as I did the first couple of days she left us.

When Hub phoned me to let me know he was on his way home, I really wanted to ask was Suki Okay? It was on the tip of my tongue. Oh it’s really difficult.

I have not left my desk much today only for a quick cupper. Got loads of work done so I’m delighted about that.

Guide Dog week coming up, starting from this Saturday so if you see any of our amazing dogs and volunteers as well as Guide dog owners and staff, please say a cheerful hello and if you can spare a few pennies that would be simply amazing. It’s truly awful that we have to raise money for Guide Dogs UK. The Government pay for weapons to destroy but not Guide dogs who give lives back to us.

I have made pea and mint soup today and put a mince dinner in the oven for the boys later. Teen working again.

Gosh, I did something to my lap top then, and it made the most fascinating tune? Not sure what I did and don’t know how to do it again, but wow, it was so cool….

I still haven’t heard from our wonderful gardener. But I expect he does his pricing at a weekend. Its madness really as my back garden is a yard. In the US a yard is different to the UK the UK we have gardens and yards.

A yard is mainly concrete. That’s my back garden. What is there to price?

Little Wagga is very quiet today again. Has been odd for a while now. She is so missing her big sister. I truly hope not long before she has a new member of the family to learn to love and play with.

Hub has said he will have anything as long as the dog works well. Especially trains tubes and so on. But as far as colour breed sex? He has said anything. He is so desperate to get a guide dog again. Even though no dog will ever replace our darling girl.

Planning my loves birthday tea. I have ordered some on line shopping and I pray it comes. As a birthday cake is in that order. I always get my Mum and Nannas best china out and we have a tea party. I think they are joining us three because of that. It sounds silly but it my way of having a special day with those who meant the world to me and still do.

When I was with my Trix yesterday, it was the first time I have been shopping with another blind girl. Or lady, I keep forgetting we are getting old Trix and me.

Though Teen said Trix looks forty three and I look forty one, hehehe, hope she’s not reading this, I can tell you, we are not that age. We are ever so slightly more mature than that.

If someone was to tell me when I was six and could see quite a lot then, that in forty years’ time, I would be blind and shopping with my school friend in a town I never thought I would live in, I would say no way.

You never know your future. What will our future be in the next ten years? I bet I’m still colossal? I wonder if I will be still blonde. Of course I will be still tall.   Will the map of life be drawn on my face?

Will I be able to see in the mirror? Oh wow, gosh, if so, can you imagine what my blogs will be like? So many adventures to go on. So much to see. I will be starving for information food to my brain, and the food will be sight.

We shall see what happens. But yesterday in our news there was a story about womb transplants. Well, at first I thought it was amazing. Hub was very against it. He said that there are enough children to go around who need adopting. I said well, if you can’t see, you won’t be allowed to adopt a baby, unless they have changed the rules. Many years ago I enquired as was worried with my eye condition being hereditary. I was told no way. Because I can’t see.

The lady has to have injections and treatment for six months before the womb gets put into her. Then as soon as the baby has been born, the womb gets removed. The womb is from a person who has died.

Apparently there is complications long term. But still that lady has carried her baby.

Well, I shall leave you now but will spend more time tomorrow with lots of gossip and news and views , also let you know what it was like shopping with my bestie yesterday. It may shock you. With love and before I go here are some words.
